  1. Although this particular Pastry thread is fixated on Iowa (to maximize the juice), my concerns are not with Iowa's seeds. They got what they earned. I think the seeding criteria is a little wonky though and unjustly rewards those with light schedules and punishes wrestlers with tougher schedules. Call it B1G (and Big 12 for that matter) bias if you want but once the dust settles I will bet my bottom doge coin that the result will be the same as it is every year: those that were gifted good seeds on account of wrestling in weaker conferences will fail to meet their seeds (relative to the competition) while good wrestlers from the tougher conferences rise to the top. Caleb Smith is not placing top 5 at 125 this year
  2. Favoring Glory is fine, I'm happy people are picking him because I think he's a live dog. But to call him a lock is a little much. I think you are not giving Cronin enough respect
  3. Show me a team that definitely had a tougher slate than Iowa. Don't mince my words, I'm not saying Iowa had the toughest schedule, but they weren't feeding on cans all year either
  4. Can you make your point clearer? I'm not following
  5. I would love for the Hawks to make trips out west. But I didn't have the Hawks in mind when I made my post. If anything, I was thinking of O'Toole and the reasonable discussion that took place about the possibility of him dropping down to the 3 or 4 seed. It makes absolute no sense in my mind that a dominant returning champ, who has only lost to the undefeated #1, should even face the possibility of being seeded at anything but #2
  6. It will probably come after the 1st round, when some team like OSUw is in the lead
  7. It's fine to be biased and stand behind your guy but calling Glory a "lock" is beyond idiotic.
  8. They're not the best seeds but they're ok. I wish they would do away with conference placement as a criteria. Or at least reduce its weight in the matrix. I do not understand why some goon who wrestles cans all year should be seeded higher than, let's say, a returning finalist who took a couple losses to the #1 guy (not referring to this year, just posing a hypothetical)
  9. Will the Brands or Manning take their clothes off once they're out of challenges in protest of a ref's call?
  10. Thank you, Mr. Peanut. You've always been a good friend
  11. I read online that he has had a number of injuries over the years that have set him back. It would fit with the observation that he has gotten worse each season
  12. A different verb could have been used here
  13. Huh, what does that mean? Are you saying there was exposed genitalia?
  14. Don't leave us hanging, brother. Spill the beans
  15. I've been holding out but I think it's officially time to hop on the bandwagon. Yes, he has a realistic chance of winning it all. I would still favor O'Conner at this point though. I'm deeply intrigued by a Haines-Andonian match-up.
  16. It better freaking change or else the whole concept of a "coaches ranking" needs to change. 3-5 took losses this weekend. 6-8 should take their place
  17. Dang. I should have read the last line of your post. You spelled it out right there. My bad. Without putting much thought into it, I really like your list, I would just put Shane at the end.
  18. Good list but you gotta penalize Shane for having 3 losses on the season. He doesn't even have the benefit of being a conference champ to lift him above someone like Ramirez.
  19. I wouldn't say complete douche. Petty? Yes. But I'm here for it. I won't speak for Vak but I think this is all in good fun
  20. I do think there is a small chance that Nebraska has more finalists than Iowa at NCAAs. I'm actually rooting for Allred.
  21. Watch out, Vak. The corn huskers are coming. They have 6 certified horses in the stable (plus 1 blazing pinto).
  22. Simply getting the other ankle isn't enough. You need to get the wrestler on their hip. Carr avoiding that was impressive.
  23. He pinned Witchcraft like 2 weeks ago. As for question #2, it's been a minute. Cruz at senior nationals was the most recent champ he's pinned, I believe
