  1. The company that should not be named posted the entire freestyle portion of finalX on YouTube. Nice gesture
  2. Gilman spoke numerous times around the time he was getting ready to jump ship about the hamstring injury he suffered late 2018 and how hamstrung he felt afterwards so part of his improvement curve had a lot to do with getting healthy. Still, it does appear that the change in location has done well by him. If we're keen on incomplete narratives then I think it's important to note that both RBY and Max Dean regressed this past year and Facundo failed to live up to the hype Now excuse me while I go shudder in a corner about what the Ferraris are about to do to IC
  3. I get that Angelo's only "sin" (to use another poster's words) is who he is related to, but I really, really, very much don't want this family anywhere near the program. Just a random hawk fan's perspective. If AJ is taken on board, I'm not sure what I'll do. Gable and the Iowa wrestling program did a lot for my family so I'll always have some respect for it. I just can't imagine actively supporting the program when they have such a cancer in their presence. And yeah, I'm aware that there are similar if not worse characters in other sports, especially the major popular ones. I'm not a fan of those sports though and don't contribute money to those teams.
  4. Yeah, he was my favorite to watch. But I feel like he got plenty of awe and respect while in college, at least in my circles. I can't think of another wrestler that made his opponent doggedly pursue the ride out (all while getting called for stalling) just to avoid a tech fall.
  5. Good riddance. Courting the Ferraris was the dumbest thing TNT tried to since deluding themselves that they could rein in Downey and "bring out the good in him"
  6. This doesn't make sense but nothing makes sense so...
  7. What are you talking about? He showed up to the parade of all-americans, showed up to the podium (on time), had his picture taken, and congratulated the 2 finalists - all very publicly. What about that gives you the impression that he did it as if he didn't want to be seen?
  8. You're a little behind the times, bud. Spencer showed up to the podium and congratulated Ramos and Glory. Furthermore, it was well publicized that Spencer watched his teammates compete Saturday morning.
  9. If AJ is accepted by Iowa, I think I will be suspending my fandom
  10. I really hope that is the case. I'd like for him to have a successful international career. Something he has talked about many times and has vocalized frustration about not being able to do so due to injury.
  11. I don't want to think it was intentional, but it happened multiple times in the 1st period. Credit to SVN, I didn't see him do that after the 1st period nor in any of his other matches this season so I don't want to insinuate that he's a dirty wrestler. I enjoy watching him scrap
  12. Rewatch the 1st period. Van Ness goes for Yianni's eyes with his thumb several times. Yianni indicated to the ref but didn't get a reaction. Van Ness kept doing it and Yianni was visible mad, swiping SVN's arm away forcefully after one of the pokes
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't call that a dynasty. The Hawks were trending downwards as Zaleski's clock worn down. What was the hawk's finish before Brands took over, 9th?
  14. Is there a realistic coaching change that could elevate Iowa to a championship contending team? I respect the brands but Iowa has been 3rd or 4th most years for the last decade. That's not really cutting it in a lot of fans' eyes. Feels like something needs to change.
  15. Exhausted and wasn't thinking clearly. That was an easily defendable position. It's a shame. One slight adjustment and he can avoid the fall
  16. I'm really sad, ya'll. My kid cousin has been to a few camps with Spencer and really looks up to him. That connection, along with the fact that he went to Iowa and wrestles the way he does, made him my favorite wrestler in a very long time. The loss shocked me and I'm rather shaken by how emotionally invested I got in the atletic life of someone that has no real impact on my life, other than providing entertainment. Sports are wild
  17. My favorite Hawkeye in a long time. I'm absolutely crushed. I hope he can rest, heal up, get his mind right and get ready for the U.S open. I'd say there is a 60% chance he doesn't finish the tournament
  18. Too many points. How about every other takedown that a wrestler scores is worth 3 points, beginning with the 1st one?
  19. Assad eliminated. He gets in on shots plenty, but usually he's already in bad position by then. The injury probably doesn't help.
  20. I dont hate it. But the concept of "control" is core to folkstyle and earning an escape point is tied into that. Maybe top man can choose to restart in neutral at some point without giving the point
  21. I hate how amine wrestles but I respect that he shows up at NCAAs Similarly, I don't understand how Griffith can look like crap during the season but sharpens up tight for the last event
  22. There's a chance it could be close. Glory has the tools to make it to the third. I don't buy the "game planning" angle, though. I don't think you can gameplan for someone like Spencer Lee. Cronin doesnt seem to be getting the respect he deserves.
