Yes for him to compete this season Wisconsin would have to sign an NPO, which basically says that they were NOT giving him an opportunity to compete, practice, be on scholarship, etc. with the University of Wisconsin. Wisconsin didn’t do any of these things, so signing the form for them doesn’t make sense because they didn’t restrict him. Burwick choose to transfer after the deadline. No one forced him to leave Madison. Also people keep complaining about eligibility, but he will have 4 opportunities at NCAAs even without this season because of the Covid year. if Kyle entered the portal during the window he would be competing right now. No one to blame but himself.

Clearly you don't know what NPO is. Your choosing to only see one side and sound like a fool. The NCAA has a messed up rule, but Wisconsin is doing nothing illegal. I feel bad for Burwick, but he has most of the blame in this situation imo. He choose to leave without knowing/caring about the rule. He said he was thinking about transferring right after NCAAs, but clearly didn't look into the rules, deadlines, or by his own admission didn't talk to his coaches, or athletic department. Life has consequences as does running from a situation and then expecting everyone to feel bad and fix it for you.

He would lie to bash the Wisconsin program and coaches though.

Barnett(2 AA finishes), Gomez(2-0 over Ridge including a pin), and Gross(senior world team member) easily....

Even Kyle Burwick doesn't think hes better. If he thought he was better than Lamont he would have stayed, competed, and outwrestled him. Also hard to hard Nebraskas lightweights vs Wisconsins. Nebraska has great coaching and is one of my favorite programs, but he has been wrestling with Barnett and Gross.

LOL So you can't count wins from 2 years ago but count a match that Lamont/Shwartz wrestled in 2020. Double standard. Lamont already has more All American finishes than Burwick will ever have. That is fine to take 3 years of a wrestle over 1 of another. But to say they are equal when 1 wrestle has ZERO top 30 wins and only 2 top 50 wins in 3 seasons(according to wrestlestat) with a 1-4 NCAA record is equal to a guy with 4 top 30 wins just in the past 2 seasons, 15 top 50 wins in the past 3, and has an 8-6 record at NCAAs with an AA honor is just stupid. But you do you.

Lamont is 8-6 at NCAAs including an All American and has wins over Sebastian Rivera, Montorie Bridges, Mastrogiovanni, Latona, and Ethan Lizak. Burwick is 1-4 at NCAAs with his best wins being Damion Elliot, Mosha Schwartz, and Jake Rundell according to wrestlestat. Yea there isn't any difference between them......

Not paying off because he has only lost to ranked guys? Lamont is still ranked 18th. Burwick barely qualified for NCAAs.

Gaining strength from being healthy and being able to get good workouts in is ridiculous? LOL ok....

125- Barnett wins a close one 133- Arujau gets the major 14-5 141-Zargo had Cole Matthews on the ropes before getting choked out and Cornella lost to Carter Young who didn't even win at match at NCAAs. 149-Yianni wins, but could see this being a decision if Gomez wrestles it close. I anticipate Gomez wrestles aggressively which could turn the match into a major. 157-Model has been making big strides and think he outlasts his opponent in a close 1-2 point win. 165- Hamiti pinned Ramirez last year, but think Hamiti still wins comfortably. 174-Rowley is a big ? as a freshman, but think Foca gets bonus points. 184- Bonus for Cornell 197-Amos wins. He almost won last year dealing with all the issues he had going on in his life. 285-Hillger was hurt last season and has gained quite a bit of strength. I think he wins by 3-4. 18-16 Wisconsin

Don't see Lamont getting teched, Zargo and Model will not get majored either. In fact I will pick both Zargo and Model will win.

Also Lamont is a one year guy. Coaching staff probably wanted someone with a winning record. Let Burwick compete for the spot, but based on results probably not be the guy. He would have 2 more years of eligibility left to wrestle for the Badgers. Kyle could have full eligibility if he stayed he choose to leave without following the deadlines. I feel bad for him, but if he was thinking of transferring after NCAAs then he should have notified coaches and entered the portal. Just because you enter the portal doesn't mean you leave for sure. Seems like a lot of bad reactionary decisions made by Burwick.
