  1. To be a D1 caliber recruit (athletic wise) the level of commitment needed is pretty intense and there are very few diamonds in the rough anymore. Kids that go D2-3 or NAIA or JUCO don't very often blossom into D1 caliber studs like they did in the past. Once in a while a D1 type.athlete might not have the academic chops to pass the clearing house so they end up at D-3 or NAIA but that is rare anymore
  2. 20 years ago teams like NDSU, UNK, and UCO and others would make the trip to Vegas and have kids place. Seems lime.we.don't see much of that anymore due to the reasons posted above
  3. Ramos.was the 2nd best college 125 pounder at the Clarion Open. Why shouldn't he fall in the rankings ?
  4. He must have really enjoyed all the attention and adoration he received on his farewell tour in 2022.
  5. As of late, there have been very few D2 or D3 kids that were thought to have been able.to.compete.for the top 3-4 spots in D1. Most have been HWTs and the last one of those was Fortune but in reality it was Tervel
  6. If there are 5 beers on the bar and I already drank 3 and I tell the bar keep ill be back to drink my 4th and final beer What does that mean? Is that #4 and #5? Or #4 and I'm going home?
  7. At the college level, many of the teams have changed the extreme cutting mindset and many wrestlers are talking about it as well. The basic practices are evolving slowly but surely. We don't see the drawn in zombie like face we used to see back in the 80s and the plastics and spit cups are few and far between
  8. Great response! Many folks don't realise that there was wrestling before Gable took over the Hawks and there are others that don't think it existed before Cael took over in Happy Valley
  9. Wright, Ruth, Nickal, Brooks at 184 Pritzlaff, Wright, Ruth, Brown, Nickal, Hall, Starocci at 174
  10. I'm only guessing here but do some of you think that the harsh punishment is set forth as a deterrent to other athletes that might consider placing wagers now or in the future?
  11. I'm glad you are the arbiter of all things wrestling/veteran related.
  12. So only illegal activities are the benchmark for being ruled ineligible?
  13. So being a thread about Veterans one is not allowed to have an opinion on the validity of a claim about wrestling? That claim kinda crapped on the work of the coaches before Bill Koll. Charlie Spiedel is in the HoF for a reason ya know
  14. WTF??? It was posted that Bill Koll was the father of Penn State wrestling and I didn't agree. PSU won a pre NCAA national title and an NCAA title many years before Bill got there. How does that diminish BK's accolades?
  15. I hear that Cael and company are in cahoots with the AGs office in Des Moines.
  16. I read somewhere that the state was investigating underage gambling when the names of athletes popped up and the rest is history
  17. Its my understanding that it was the state not the NCAA that did the investigation. The school was presented with the evidence and had to report it to the NCAA Nothing uneven
  18. Not at all, but it is hard to be the "father" of a program that started in 1909 when the coach in question wasn't born until 1923.
