  1. Who got their hand raised? Lee made up 10 points of ground on Eierman in a short period of time. I don't have to dunk on Iowa, everyone just watched their wrestlers score in the wrong basket for two hours on national tv.
  2. But that's the point, dude. Lee kept getting better. Eierman plateaued and made the finals in a cleared-out weight class and lost to the only other guy. Penn State guys keep getting better.
  3. Of course they do, especially Eierman. The margins were so close and PSU's staff >>>>> Iowa
  4. The point is to win the nationals. Those guys will tell you that. They didn't/won't. Failure.
  5. Cope harder, I guess? there are 30 head coaches in the country that would get more out of Iowa's resources, including two in that state. The fact that a historic, iconic, proud program like Iowa lets themselves be coached by two brothers who clearly don't have all the crayons in the box is downright sad.
  6. We talking about the same guy? Check his Twitter lmao.
  7. The theme applies to guys in the room for a career, though. If you're an elite recruit, it may be the worst room in the country to go to. They will break you down, give you HEW, and you'll have limited senior prospects unless you go to Penn State's room. Ask Thomas Gilman. He will tell you.
  8. But if he was the Penn State starter, odds are he wins more. Everyone else sees how Iowa guys plateau near the end of their careers and don't get over the hump in the last 6 years. This is not controversial at all.
  9. No. But guys like Kem, Marinelli, Eierman, GIlman, Woods to name a few all could've won and never did (woods could but it looks bad) That's damning. those guys win 10 total in Penn State's win.
  10. A guy that is considered a bona fide title contender
  11. Did they turn the crowd mic’s off? I couldn’t hear any crowd noise the last hour
  12. Brands doesn’t have a clue how to take a great wrestler and make them better. Evident for almost a decade now.
  13. Penn State is Dad. Say hi to dad before he leaves, Hawkeyes!
  14. I'd be stunned if Carter wasn't back. The money will talk.
  15. If you're a middle class kid and you get into the Ivy League, they pay for it all, more or less.
  16. Someone at NCAA's a few years ago came out to "Stuck in the Middle With You", which is an excellent choice for a wrestling match. Obviously, Spencer's Pokémon theme song was incredible. I don't even like Pokémon, but it was so funny.
  17. Yes, that money is only allowed to be used for things other than abortions. Birth control, cancer screenings, STD testing, etc.
  18. Federal funding cannot be used for abortions. Hyde Amendment. Pretty baseline stuff here
  19. Each team had factors in their favor. That definitely helps PSU when it comes to bonus points. Iowa also got to wrestle that 1997 nationals in front of a glorified home crowd. The record is the record.
  20. Yeah, I'm sure Greg Kerkvliet and Adam Coon are great examples of American excess.
  21. Bartlett has proven he can win in March. Of the two guys ahead of him, one is sitting out and one looks like Dog-S. Obviously, if Real handles Beau next week, that would change the calculus. Truax also knows how to win in march, and will have the best game planners come March in his corner. You're betting against a PSU guy in the semis? Seems like a bad bet.
  22. You would've said the same thing to people who picked Cenzo to beat IMar, Carter to beat Kem, RBY to beat Fix, etc. There's nothing outlandish here at all, and you have to factor in Penn State's overperformance. They're 50-7 in semifinals since 2011. Tell me who is richer, than man who bet on PSU overperformance or the man who bet on underperformance?
  23. 125: Davis (5th). Who knows at this weight. Could win! Could go 1-2! split the difference somewhat. 133: Nagao (4th) think he turns it on like SVN did last year, finishes a few more shots. 141: BB (1st) Has he been awesome? No. Has Real Woods looked much worse? Yes. 149: Kasak (6th) Kasak has a great Friday night, winning twice, before his size hurts him on Saturday. 157: Haines (1st) He doesn't look great, but are you picking anyone else over him in one match, factoring in the PSU nationals bonus? 165: Mesenbrink (2nd) I think he's just not quite positionally disciplined enough yet to beat KOT, but he's more than enough for everyone else. If he went 157 this year, the buzz next offseason would be about him being the second undefeated 4xer 174: Starocci (1st) Still that dude. 184: Truax (2nd) Penn State magic gets him to the finals, loses to Keck. 197: Brooks (1st) turns the bracket into a mockery. 285: Kerk (1st) He was pretty good before. He's taken a HUGE leap in health and consistency this year and looks to be well-above the rest of the weight class.
