El Segundo was decent. The pollution was terrible because it was between LAX and the oil refinery, but the town was pretty quiet compared to most of LA. Fantastic Cafe made the best, greasy-ass beef and cheese burritos ever.

As I remember it Lee seemed to be relieved to be taking a few years off from FS. I can't blame him, doing a fullbore FS schedule in addition to folk must be brutal.

Hehe, OSU really didn't have much of a choice after Joe Seay was fired. I heard OSU offered Gable, among others.

Pendleton is a great coach, but he doesn't have 4 gold medals. That's a huge recruiting edge with HS kids, they want to wrestle for a guy who has won it all on the highest level. I'm not sure how many HS kids even know who Chris Pendleton is, his wrestling career ended in 2005 and I bet none of the current D1 wrestlers ever saw Chris wrestle a match (except maybe on youtube)! David Taylor, on the other hand, is like an icon to HS wrestlers. Taylor is recent enough that some of the HS kids today may have watched him winning his last NCAA title when they were little shits in elementary school. Plus David has had a great Sr level career and they are certainly aware of that. No offense, but comparing Chris Pendleton to DT, wrestling wise, is like comparing prime Cindy Williams to prime Barbara Eden. Yeah, Cindy was pretty cute, but Barbara is one of the all time greatest pieces of....well, you get the point. Try not to think too much about me comparing wrestling resumes to women. By the way the guy below was married to Barbara Eden, so don't lose hope ugly dudes.

I think David will endeavor to make sure his wrestlers knees don't get too close to their heads, especially in NCAA championship matches.

His pedigree as a wrestler is impeccable. I bet he could land a coaching job somewhere good if he wanted to dip his toes in the profession.

That's what happens when people who are not well grounded in reality are given too much acclaim. They get the big head, and all the insufferable douches don't go to PSU. I know some coaches, present and past, who fill the bill of "insufferable douche" to the letter. If coaches are like that, guaranteed wrestlers are, too! Fortunately for me I was never as successful as Brooks or Starocci. I came by my insufferable douche status honestly!

That's what livestock are for. Plus it'll probably be moderately expensive moving those animals to Oklahoma. A couple cattle and 10 chickens makes for a pretty decent BBQ! Have you ever been to a bbq with a cow on the spit? Nothing beats it.

What a shame that ISU would invest so heavily in a new facility when everybody is going to want to be wrestling in the OSU room JK!
