  1. some years the difference between a 1 and 2 seed seems consequential - but at 125 this year seems like not so much other than whatever publicity the program can squeeze out of a #1 seed
  2. Good analysis - not a fan but I think the coaches at Iowa are a good fit. It is still a magnet program and will have plenty of success going forward.
  3. I wonder if Nathan Taylor might get a 6 or 7 seed and avoid the potential Quarterfinal match w Kerk.
  4. After Kerk? Bastida #2. Feldman#3
  5. Baker from Cornell is tough and not surprised he is having success
  6. I think coaches may make strategic decisions about the quarterfinal matchups when deciding whether and how hard to lobby to move from 3 to 2. Hard to know the particular motivations unless they are expressed. Might be better use of energy to challenge from 4 to 3 seed. Coaches have different views on these things.
  7. i'd guess Cornell Coach did not challenge the preseed and cares little between 2 or 3 seed
  8. that ref failed to award back points for Swisher as well!
  9. Swisher from Penn at 149 is interesting and if he makes a run at NCAA's it would be potentially the biggest darkhorse.
  10. smaller school, NH and New England are not hotbeds of wrestling, doubt they are interested in funding the infrastructure or annual budget or that any alums are pushing for it. Dartmouth has not had wrestling in a very long time - unlike Yale that had it until the 1980's. Some of the reasons I think they would not add it.
  11. would it were I think the chance of Dartmouth is extremely low
  12. leaning Carr but this one is a great rivalry - reminds of Glory v. Vito WIll be interested to see if Messinbrink can go with these guys.

Brock is impressive and fun to watch!
  15. Tigers now have Reece Humphrey as an Assistant Coach and have the talent and coaching to compete at a high level. I think there have only been a few years where the Tigers were above 3rd place in the Ivies in the Ayres era. Tigers had no 125 lber and their very good 197 lber Luke Stout was out as well. They are not as down as this match and the Lehigh match seems. Penn beat them last year as well and Princeton had Glory and Monday for that match if memory serves.
  16. This was predicted by someone on this board at the start of the season. Swisher appears to have captured the Penn 149 lb roster spot for the post-season. He had been up at 157 and looks good at 149 in recent matches against Cornell and Princeton. Might have a shot at qualifying for NCAA's and winning some big matches in the post season. Surprising poise for a frosh and has some good offense and pace. Tough on top as well.
  17. He is a freestyle world champ. #5 NCAA ranking probably would not intimidate him.
  18. I think Foca seems to be back on track and would pick him if I were a betting Elevator. I think Ungar is vulnerable.
  19. I am really going to enjoy this weight class and respect to all of these outstanding competitors! Fun!
  20. artsy movie w fine acting that is uninteresting and dark
  21. I already made clear this bet was off as against the best interests of the forum. We need JC! No more such bets.
