  1. Lewis went from about 25% to 10% when the seeds came out. THe #9 seed to Starocci may be "fair" to him in some sense - but it is not fair to Lewis relative to seeds 2 - 5.
  2. I should add that the officiating - even with video review - can be unpredictable as people are people. Not meant as a knock on these underpaid dedicated souls that are so important to the sport.
  3. last year Spencer Lee would have polled in the high 90's and probably been #1. I do not think anyone is above 80% as the competition is fierce, style matchups can be quirky, ther can be an element of luck, and there is always injury risk.
  4. Glazier beats Hidlay Dugan beats Keckeisen Incontrera beats DeVos Franek beats Teemer Swisher over Arrington Echemendia over Mendez Bouz over Fix Smith > Stanich Provo > Ayala Sotelo > Volk
  5. 125 Max Gallagher (27) 133 Colaiocco (28) 141 Composto (22) 149 Swisher (30) 157 Brignola (20) 165 Fish (21) 174 Starocci (19) 174 Mocco (22) 184 Conway (19) 197 Mac Stout (21) 285 Pitzer (21)
  6. ok - that might be more than 2 points
  7. Two points. Not all who root for a team have the same mindset. Plenty of humble PSU wrestle fans wary of a tough loss. So far this year, the team has met the standard of great without a lot of flat/bad (team and each wrestler) days. But this tourney is so tough that PSU might falter from the seeds/expectations. Would be a big surprise to have them finish below 1st as a team, but as Spencer Lee teaches us, even the most vetted NCAA competitor can get knocked off. These risks make it fun for fans! As tough as Brooks looks at 197, the #2 seed has been off the charts this year as well. Brooks is human and that match could be one of the best ever.
  8. Ramirez is very dangerous and capable of beating the top seeds. Fun tio watch. Same for that Cornell 174 lber wrestling up a weight. Foca has a lot of tricks and I try not to miss his matches. Can be very entertaining.
  9. Hamiti has to be kicking himself that he did not just belly out on that last td - his path is quite challenging!
  10. the top bracket seems overloaded and the bottom one a far more favorable path but maybe these NCAA seeding wizards know better? (anybody believe this?)
  11. I think this will be the bracket that gets busted most quickly and severely with 133 and 125 in the running too.
  12. Starocci v Lewis in the quarters - damn shame
  13. I would take the under that this is the NCAA finals matchup.
  14. a different kind of anticipation, but Starocci's first match to see if he is healthy
  15. Do not know the bios of the olt timey champs before Sculley, but of the 11 most recent champs, I think five are from the Lehigh Valley (Cruz, Rohn, Lievbermans, and Sculley). Two guys who were finalists or at least ranked #2 and at that level from Lehigh Valley include Trenge and Mike Brown - not sure if Brown made the finals but know he was very close to NCAA title.
  16. Dake lost to a Bucknell wrestler in EIWA finals if memory serves. But he was quite good!
  17. good analysis - culture of the team and school also could be a factor Michigan gets transfers from Stanford, Northwestern, Princeton - have my doubts that Ok State and Iowa have the same attraction for their graduate school programs. Might matter to some wrestlers when evaluating transfer choices.
  18. All true but just a perfect storm. While they are not my team, they are still one of the very best programs and will be in the hunt at KC and at least a top 5 team next year.
  19. Feldman is interesting - but not ready to say he has shown dominance potential, Let's see if he makes the NCAA semis and how he does - agree he could be a future champ.
  20. Penn Quakers sending 8. 9 is their record if memory serves. If the stater at 165 was able to compete, I think they might have gotten to 9. Happy w 8!
  21. Davis v Stanich Figueroa v Camacho Crookham v. Fix v Vito v. Crookham Orine v Ragusin Mendez v Echemendia Gomez v anyone - he is fun Lovett v. Henson Haines v Shapiro Messenbrink if he makes the semis, same if he makes the finals Lewis v Welsh Ayzerov v Keckeisen Foca v Plott Brooks v. Hidlay v. Beard v. Brooks Taylor v. Bastida
  22. Providence is nice town and nice to see the Bears on the rise!
