  1. If I'm not mistaken Rulon Gardner was one of those guys, going to Ricks College before landing at Nebraska. TJ Williams went to Lassen and then onto the University of Iowa, and was able to put together a few wins.
  2. That's good. I hope they get a HS program there too. If I'm not mistaken, the nearest HS program is about 45 minutes away.
  3. I am not sure what the situation was with Leeth at Stanford, but going from Palo Alto, CA to Stephenville, TX has got to be a culture shock for a younger coach.
  4. Do you think they will raise enough money to get it started past club status?
  5. He probably crashed the school's server blasting out the emails about the NEW summer camp location!
  6. They will need more of them to come out to duals, as they only had 192 show up for the Morgan State dual. It would be nice to see them get some NIL money to attract some heavy hitters.
  7. WHOA! I hope that wasn't extra strong bong water!
  8. Why is a ref be telling a D1 kid to put his foot on the line, multiple times in the same match?! That is just the new and improved "Big 8 break" put on by Okie State. Williams should have been hit for stalling when he takes his time to get back to the center, and then fails to put his foot on the line.
  9. The Williams-Swiderski match was terrible for a lack of stalling calls! Why does a ref tell a D1 kid to put his foot on the line? He told Williams to put his foot on the line at least 3 times. Plus Williams backed up the entire match! STALLING!
  10. Those kinds of performances kept Minkel at Michigan State for many years. They are stuck with Bono!
  11. So the joke used to be when a guy untied his shoes to get a breather, it was called a "Big 8 break". Now we have the "Penn State break".
  12. I think that was when Surber was winding down and about to get out of coaching, I could have my time lines wrong. Oh there are some solid kids all over that state. As you well know, Tuttle is super solid and has been for DECADES. There are several other areas of that state that just keep churning out some "tough as nails" kids.
  13. I can't remember the kids name, but he did great under Lou for a couple of seasons then couldn't get back down to 141 and then transferred to Cal Poly SLO. I don't know how that worked out for him.
  14. He didn't bring his son to an OK HS. He was worried about the partners in OK. He knew that he had some hammers for his son to roll with back in Ohio.
  15. He sold OU some real snake oil! I hope Hofstra wouldn't fall for that.
  16. What about Lou Roselli? He is a New Yorker (not from Long Island). Maybe he could rebuild the program. He bad mouthed the HS Wrestling in Oklahoma and wasn't able to attract the top Okies. Maybe he could turn it on at Hofstra.
  17. You never know, you might get Bono over there to rebuild the program!
  18. Where else have you seen a circle that is 62'X62'?
  19. It was Kurdelmeier's idea. He was sitting in a coffee shop with Mike Nary who was the owner of Quality Mat Company and they came up with the idea and then set the ball into motion.
  20. After Iowa Coach Gary Kurdelmeier used Big Bertha (1977) which was a 62'X62' mat. This mat was built because Okie State had a "style" of backing up, backing up, backing up, and then shooting. So Kurdelmeier wanted to keep those Okies away from the oob line, and wrestle! So it appears that this is not a new problem! The NCAA received several complaints and they put a restriction on how big a mat could be. They claimed that not all schools could afford to have such a big mat.
  21. 149-Isaiah Delgado UVU is out. He got a MRSA infection and his season and career are over. A sad turn of events.
