  1. I haven't worn mine out yet but the chip box and the water tray are showing signs of wear. I might need to get new ones soon. Hopefully they can be purchased separately. mspart
  2. What we did was smoke it for about 2-3 hours. Until all the smoke stopped being generated. Then we took it out and cooked it the rest of the way in the oven. It came out great!! I have been really surprised by this little smoker of mine. Not one thing has been ruined using it. It is making me look like a genius in cooking. I assure all of you, I am not. mspart
  3. I smoked a turkey in my little smoker last year. I used Apple wood chips. After tasting the first bite my wife declared that we will never cook a turkey anyother way from now on. So I'm looking forward to smoked turkey this November. mspart
  4. Fortunately, the attacker will not be doing that ever again. mspart
  5. This reminds me of a story I heard. A man was on the west coast walking on the beach and was talking with God. God told him he could have a wish. He really loved Hawaii and thought it would be really nice to build a bridge to Hawaii. So that is what he wished for. God said that was an impossible wish and to ask for something else. The man thought about it for a moment and said he would like to know how women think. In response, God asks, How many lanes do you want? mspart
  6. Who didn't see this coming? Islam is one of the most vehement critics of all that pride represents. Liberals just didn't get it when they were applauding Muslims and not saying a word about how muslim countries treat LGBTQ folks. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/15/us/hamtramck-michigan-ban-pride-flags-public-property/index.html A city in Michigan votes to permanently ban Pride flags from display on public property during Pride Month As communities across the United States celebrate June as Pride Month, a city near Detroit, Michigan, has voted to permanently ban the display of Pride flags on public property. Hamtramck’s city council members voted unanimously Tuesday to approve the controversial resolution, which restricts the city from flying any “religious, ethnic, racial, political, or sexual orientation group flags” on public grounds, according to meeting minutes. Residents and businesses will not be restricted from flying Pride or other flags on private property. Back in 2015, D's rejoiced that muslims were being voted in in Hamtamck's city council. Now it is all muslim and there is some angst. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jun/17/hamtramck-michigan-muslim-council-lgbtq-pride-flags-bannIed A sense of betrayal’: liberal dismay as Muslim-led US city bans Pride flags In 2015, many liberal residents in Hamtramck, Michigan, celebrated as their city attracted international attention for becoming the first in the United States to elect a Muslim-majority city council. They viewed the power shift and diversity as a symbolic but meaningful rebuke of the Islamophobic rhetoric that was a central theme of then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign. This week many of those same residents watched in dismay as a now fully Muslim and socially conservative city council passed legislation banning Pride flags from being flown on city property that had – like many others being flown around the country – been intended to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Muslim residents packing city hall erupted in cheers after the council’s unanimous vote, and on Hamtramck’s social media pages, the taunting has been relentless: “Fagless City”, read one post, emphasized with emojis of a bicep flexing. In a tense monologue before the vote, Councilmember Mohammed Hassan shouted his justification at LGBTQ+ supporters: “I’m working for the people, what the majority of the people like.” While Hamtramck is still viewed as a bastion of multiculturalism, the difficulties of local governance and living among neighbors with different cultural values quickly set in following the 2015 election. Some leaders and residents are now bitter political enemies engaged in a series of often vicious battles over the city’s direction, and the Pride flag controversy represents a crescendo in tension. “There’s a sense of betrayal,” said the former Hamtramck mayor Karen Majewski, who is Polish American. “We supported you when you were threatened, and now our rights are threatened, and you’re the one doing the threatening.” Again, what did they expect? Muslims were not threatened except in these liberals minds. But they now feel threatened. It is laughable that they were so blind in their righteousness that they did not see this as an obvious outcome. mspart
  7. From the comments section on the yahoo article, they felt like an apology back when this happened may have done some good for their bottom line. But the feelings were that obviously the company doesn't want to apologize and these commenters no longer consider themselves customers. From what I gather, they could care less now if the company apologizes or not, they are no longer consumers of AB beers. Interestingly, there were no Pro AB commenters in the 3 pages I read. In other words, CEO saying he listens to customers does not apply to these folks as they no longer consider themselves customers. Just summarizing what I read. mspart
  8. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/bud-light-maker-ceo-tells-customers-we-hear-you-doesnt-apologize-sales-tank Bud Light maker CEO tells customers, 'We hear you,' but doesn't apologize as sales tank Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth has released a message telling consumers "we hear you," as sales of the beer giant’s Bud Light brand continue to slide following a partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. In a post titled "Anheuser-Busch Announces Support For Frontline Employees And Wholesaler Partners," Whitworth said, "We recognize that over the last two months, the discussion surrounding our company and Bud Light has moved away from beer, and this has impacted our consumers, our business partners, and our employees." "We are a beer company, and beer is for everyone," he continued. Since late March, Bud Light parent Anheuser-Busch has seen its market value plummet by over $35 billon to $99 billion, down from $134.5 billon. Whitworth announced "three important actions" to move the company forward, including "investing to protect the jobs of our frontline employees" and "providing financial assistance to our independent wholesalers to help them support their employees." "Third, to all our valued consumers, we hear you. Our summer advertising launches next week, and you can look forward to Bud Light reinforcing what you’ve always loved about our brand — that it’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy," Whitworth also said. A similar article was on Yahoo finance website and the comments were pretty scathing. He hears his valued customers and new advertising will fix all this. I guess we'll see. Many of the commenters were saying "customers, no we are not longer your customers". Like I said, I guess we'll see. mspart

  10. When trying for a reverse lift in FS, the bottom guy can grab legs, ankles, knees, or anything else to keep the top man from getting to his feet. GR, not so much. mspart
  11. Yeah, I don't like the shot clock. Not too many are concerned about that and let it run out anyways without doing anything. I like this idea better. mspart
  12. https://sanangelolive.com/news/politics/2023-06-15/biden-says-well-build-railroad-all-way-across-indian-ocean WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Biden raised eyebrows Wednesday night after saying that his administration is working on building an intercontinental railroad from the Pacific across the Indian Ocean. While at a dinner, on June 14, 2023, Biden gave a speech to the League of Conservation Voters. During his speech he spoke on what the Biden administration has done for conservation and what they have in store. One idea however had people stunned. "We have plans to build a railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean," said President Biden. "We have plans to build in Angola, one of the largest solar plants in the world. I could go on, but I'm not. I'm going off script. I'm going to get in trouble." You can watch him say it here: I'd say he went off script. mspart

  14. I am sorry to say that I have searched all over the internet for that story. It used to be there but I am not searching correctly. As I remember it, the OSU wrestlers were playing something on a field. Nick Simmons had a problem with one of them and decked him. Zalesky did nothing. It is probably discussed on the old themat or theopenmat forums. But they are gone now. Simmons should not have done what he did and Zalesky should have fired him on the spot. On theopenmat forum we had a dad in Oregon that was wary of Zalesky and actually pulled his kid out of the program, not just due to this but to other things his kid said were going on. It was a bad situation there and Zalesky could have been a man and did something about it, but he couldn't have cared less about anything. That became apparent about 5 years into his time there. mspart
  15. When we moved from Huntsville AL in 1973 to Seattle, there were no BBQ places. Now we were from Seattle but were in AL for 10 years. My dad would hear of a place with good BBQ and it was a piece of meat with BBQ sauce on it. It is better here now. We had a neighbor that was a BBQ dude and he is pretty good. We are almost that good with our little smoker. Good BBQ is beyond description. mspart
  16. I have a cheap smoker, propane, one can, meat above the burner. Wood chips above the burner too. Have smoked brisket, pork butt, a Turkey, and steak. All came out good except the steak was way well done as I didn't watch it very closely. The meat still was good even well done. I haven't had a miss yet and I am way below novice in this arena. Smoking meat is just awesome!! Great idea for a new topic HuskerDu. mspart
  17. Thee Feds didn't have much to go on his Mom until that. That is what made it a federal case. She is facing federal charges of falsifying the document, same as Hunter. They are not prosecuting her for the gun that shot a teacher, but that she got that gun illegally, same as Hunter. It is the state that has the law that they will go after the parent if they leave a firearm where a minor can get at it and use it. Totally different cases. The Feds are charging her with falsifying the data on that form, same as Hunter did. There is no difference in context. Only a difference in outcomes, at this point. The case against Hunter in this regard has gone on longer than the case against this Mom. According to https://news.yahoo.com/hunter-biden-reportedly-violated-federal-152649044.html He filled out the form in 2018, but was kicked out of the military in 2014 for drug use. This article was written Mar 2021. According to https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/shooting-virginia-elementary-school-leaves-1-adult-injured-rcna64695 The boy shot the teacher on 06 Jan 2023. So this did not require years of study etc, the Feds indicted her within 6 months of the event. The Feds have known about Hunter's very similar lie since at least Mar 2021 and probably earlier. Yet, funny enough, no action has been taken in the 2 years since. Context is a funny thing. It is a felony to lie on the background check. Apparently more so for the Mom than for Hunter. They did the same thing and the consequences are vastly different. mspart
  18. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/beer-wars-bud-light-loses-top-spot-to-modelo-in-may-144733135.html Beer wars: Bud Light loses top spot to Modelo in May Bud Light now holds 7.3% of total US beer market retail sales, Modelo moved up to the No. 1 spot with 8.4%. Move over Bud Light, Modelo is now No. 1. The Constellation Brands (STZ) beer knocked off previous leader Bud Light (BUD), which has been embroiled in a boycott from the likes of Kid Rock over an endorsement from a transgender TikTok influencer — and possibly a reverse boycott from the LGBTQ community. In the four-week period ending June 3, Modelo Especial made its way to the top. Modelo holds 8.4% of total retail sales in the US beer market. That's compared to Bud Light, which now holds 7.3%, per Nielsen and Bump Williams Consulting. At the start of the year, Bud Light held a 10.3% share, higher compared to Modelo, 7.5%. The future looks bright. mspart
  19. For the reasons above, I have not yet subscribed to flo. msprt
  20. Both are federal situations. It did not take 5 years for the Newport News Mom to get indicted after they found out she lied on the federal arms form. If they will roll all of Hunter's gun and tax issues into one big indictment, then I guess that would work. I'm not getting the feeling they are moving with any discernible speed on this. But boy, did they move on the Mom. mspart
