  1. Where does anyone's loyalty lie when they move on with their lives and get a job? Usually still with the university where they went to school. Rather than asking poorly worded, elliptical questions with obvious answers that are not the ones you want, why don't you just make a declarative statement?
  2. You can't handle tough internetting.
  3. That is for transferring OUT of Cornell, not in.
  4. Does Jake Varner return to the PSU staff with Kennedy gone?
  5. Daton Fix says hold my beer. No really, I am serious, hold my beer. And if DT asks, it is your beer.
  6. Say you were a freshman in 2021, then your five year window starts in 2022 and ends in 2026. To make it to 2026 you need some sort of redshirt between 2022 and 2025. But there is more than one redshirt type available. And there are exceptions and waivers that can extend the five year window. Let's take a look at what is in store for you. Military Exception Religious Mission Exception Recognized Foreign Aid Services of the U.S. Government Exception Conscientious Objector Exception Academic Study Abroad Exception Internship or Cooperative Educational Work Experience Program Exception Pregnancy Exception Regular Redshirt Olympic Redshirt Medical Year Waiver Erroneous Academic Advice Waiver Natural Disaster Waiver Extreme Financial Difficulty Waiver Circumstance of Extraordinary or Extreme Hardship Waiver So if everything, and I mean absolutely everything, has gone wrong (floods, lost jobs, injuries, bad advice, pregnancy), and right (Olympic redshirt, pregnancy) in your life and you have a sense of duty (military, religious mission, foreign aid, pregnancy) and adventure (religious mission, study abroad, internship, pregnancy), it is possible to be around a long, long time.
  7. The other open question is, what is Steveson's academic status? Did he graduate undergrad? Or will he need to worry about academic standing/progress ala the oldest 2 Ferraris last year?
  8. Yeah, me too. That is why I looked up the rules the other day. Of course, this is a case where my username has never been more accurate.
  9. Interesting. Fix was given a provisional suspension while he appealed. After entering a consent agreement with USADA the start date of the provisional suspension became the start date of the formal suspension. So, the question is did Brooks receive a provisional suspension? Of course, that is on top of the original question, did any of this even happen, or is it an overactive , irresponsible imagination at work?
  10. I am going to guess, no. The NCAA rule says "A student-athlete under a drug-testing suspension from a national or international sports governing body that has adopted the WADA code shall not participate in NCAA intercollegiate competition for the duration of the suspension." And Brooks was not under suspension given that he was allowed to participate in the trials. Now let's say USAW decides to take away his titles. I would guess any suspension would be from that point forward. A retroactive suspension would not be punitive in USAW's eyes. There was nothing I saw in the NCAA rules about losing an NCAA title due to losing an international title.
  11. The free year was 2021 for everyone. Only 2024 could be considered an Olympic redshirt. So by process of elimination 2023 had to be a regular redshirt.
  12. Good stuff. But is it the same Ochir? He went 1-1 at Worlds last year losing to the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Rivera. And he obviously did not do well enough in his regional qualifier to avoid last chance. The issue for me will be that the matches come thick and fast at a weight Zain has to cut to make. What kind of recovery will he experience.
  13. Congratulations on your sobriety. Keep up the great and hard work.
  14. All I know is Pop, Sanderson, and Taylor are costing themselves a shot at a 60 year old ex-swimmer who never met a carb he didn't like, be it liquid or solid. That is called opportunity cost, my friends.
  15. The entire board, save for maybe @VakAttack. Come for the wrestling talk, stay for the drama.
  16. Exactly. If it was Brands bringing him in, changing his mind, and then changing it back, that would be one level of desperation. But if it Brands changing his mind back AND then convincing the AD to change her mind, that would be a whole other level of desperation.
  17. The real question is, does this make Iowa even more desperate to the point they welcome AJ back with open arms?
  18. I have seen Jax Forrest and Bo Bassett mentioned as M2 guys. The thing about Kasak and Haines is they are in the middle of a logjam, especially with Starocci coming back. If not them, then perhaps some other would be starter. Or maybe one, or more, of their vaunted second or third string guys like Cochran or Barraclough (already in the portal).
  19. I do not think that is accurate. A number of current wrestlers (Kasak and Haines) and incoming recruits go through M2.
