I all fairness, he did say wrestler. -

This explains a lot (lack of stall calls on top)

You could certainly hear the Minnesota coaches calling for it. -

I too find the stalling calls to be very inconsistent. The inconsistency seems to be not calling stalling, rather than calling it too often. Take Real Woods yesterday against VomBaur. After taking a 4-1 lead, Woods was in reverse the entire second period. He was clearly in defend his lead mode. Back up or move sideways every time VomBaur attempted to make contact. It was an effective stalling technique because it worked, but it was stalling. -
Do Over 125: Matt McDonough - 1,2,1 trumps 1,3,3 133: Logan Steiber - only two timer at the weight 141: Also Logan Steiber - his four timer status trumps Kellan Russell's 7,1,1 149: Zain Retherford - obviously 157: Jason Nolf - also obviously. 2,1,1,1 trumps 1,1 even if the second 1 caused Nolf's 2. 165: David Taylor - his international success is hard to ignore even if it did not happen in the 2010's. But, given that it did happen in the 2020's a strong argument exists for he and Vincenzo Joseph tying for the title. 174: Mark Hall - his 1,2,2 and sympathy for his stolen 2020 trumps Matt Brown's 2,5,1. And poor Ed Ruth. Only two years at 174 hurts his candidacy. 184: Bo Nickal - his two titles at 184 and finals win over Gabe Dean trumps Dean's 3,1,1,2. And poor Ed Ruth. Only two... 197 Bo Nickal - yes, there was only a single title at the weight (over Moore, so there is that), but no one from the B1G won more than that. And Nickal's 2019 tournament was more dominant than the others (pinfall, pinfall, major, pinfall, 4 point dec). His season was also more dominant, ending with the Hodge. 285: Kyle Snyder: Captain "Obviously" America.

Ha. Every one of us got the thread title wrong. I have non-B1G, the other guys have non-2010 wrestlers. At least we are consistent in our inconsistency. Or I could say, "hey they didn't stick to the decade, why should I stick to the conference?" But, no, I did not read the thread title carefully is the real issue.

It's time: Predict the 2024 125 pound NCAA champ

More than 14 wrestlers with votes at this point. Amazing weight this year. -

We can't get Cornell to send their starters out there, but they get to wrestle two at 125? Seems unfair. -
125: Matt McDonough - 1,2,1 trumps 1,3,3 133: Logan Steiber - only two timer at the weight 141: Yianni Diakomihalis - that he went on to win four gives him the trump card over the other two timers, Dean Heil and Kellan Russell (excluding Steiber because 133) 149: Zain Retherford - obviously 157: Jason Nolf - also obviously. 174: Zahid Valencia and Chris Perry - both 3,1,1 too hard to separate, so I didn't. As an aside, Carter Starocci never wrestled a single college match in the 2010's. 184: Bo Nickal - his two titles at 184 and finals win over Gabe Dean trumps Dean's 3,1,1,2. 197 J'Den Cox: Another obviously. 3 titles to Moore's zero titles in the 2010's. There are a bunch of better 197's in the 2010's than Moore (Nickal, Simaz, Kilgore, Gadson, Wright, Varner, Snyder). 285: Kyle Snyder: Captain "Obviously" America.

PSU trains a lot of people who do or have wrestled elsewhere internationally too. -
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Turn and face the stranger. And let's start by greeting those strangers. Intermat welcomes a host of previously unranked wrestlers to the land of the ranked. Welcome to the club gentlemen. Take a seat anywhere. The meeting will start on March 21st. In addition to the 13 new wrestlers joining the ranked club, there was a pretty good shake up at 125, 174 and 157. This late in the season it is not normal to see this kind of volatility. As expected we have a sixth team expected to finish second. Iowa has rallied hard from a weak sixth to a strong second. And still no Ben Kueter in the 285 rankings, so we have that to look forward to, as well. And finally we get to the race for the big trophy. While better than the post SVN fall out, things keep getting tighter for PSU in spite of the additions of Davis and Kasak to the rankings. That is a testament to how far Iowa has come. It is still an expected runaway victory (48.5 points), but Jimmy will be happy to see that PSU is clearly on a path for misery by late March.

Just gonna leave this here for you in case you missed it in the Travis Whittlake thread. -
I really enjoyed the AJ Ferrari era.

Maybe. Maybe. Maybe it is not over yet. Maybe taking the rumored Brands advice to ORS this year and wrestle for Iowa next year. -
In four words you hedged your bet too.

Yeah, there are a few who paid a price when they tried going upper body with Nick Lee. -

Gomez looked healthy at the world championships, so I would not be surprised to see the level he was at when he beat Yianni. Even though he wound up getting pinned, his three toss attempts in the world match with Nick Lee are worth the price of admission. https://www.flowrestling.org/events/11049592-2023-senior-world-championships/videos?playing=11251702
