  1. Ah, the BRICS currency. You should check in with its champion, @Offthemat, to see how that is going. At their summit in South Africa, Putin could not attend because he was afraid he would be arrested.
  2. Being forced to yuan because they are denied access to dollars is not "leading the charge to make the dollar far less relevant". It is "any port in a storm". It is like you don't even read your own articles.
  3. You did not quote. You paraphrased and added your own thoughts in the same sentence. And no it is not true that Russia is "leading the charge to make the dollar far less relevant".
  4. Sigh. First off it isn't a bond to be sold. It is a loan that is held by the issuer. Second, don't kid yourself. Argentina famously defaulted on their bonds and then came back to the market just one year later and successfully sold a 100 year bond, that they then defaulted on just 3 years later. There is always a market.
  5. I didn't add facts. I quoted the part of your article that you conveniently ignored. But you are such a cipher.
  6. Finance to the rescue. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4733340 Right now G7 countries have frozen $300 billion of Russian assets, but do not have a vaild claim on the assets. Ukraine has a valid claim on those assets, but no custody of the assets. So.... Structured finance can cure all that ails you (so claim these guys). Structure a loan of $300 billion from the G7 to Ukraine and collateralize it with the frozen assets. If Russia does not pay Ukraine reparations, then Ukraine defaults on the loan, and the G7 can now take the frozen assets to satisfy the loan. If Putin pays reparations, then Ukraine can pay back the loan, and Putin gets his assets unfrozen. Boom.
  7. Certainly outpacing the US in inflation and rising interest rates. "One side effect of the stimulus has been relatively high inflation of 7.4% in 2023, down from 11.9% in 2022. In an effort to prevent inflation from getting out of control, the Russian central bank raised interest rates to about 16%." If we had two years in a row of inflation at 7.4% and 11.9%, central bank interest rates of 16%, leading to mortgage rates around 20%, while fighting an illegal war, and killing anyone who disagreed with the president, you would be losing your mind.
  8. Ok. Lets say he is not qualified for the job. Then the evidence he produced would be faulty. So all you need to do is attack the evidence, like in a real trial, instead of waving a shiny object at the easily distracted to say "don't examine the evidence, examine the people who discovered the evidence".
  9. I was paraphrasing champion of the MAGA Trump Movement, Tucker Carlson who wants to reframe the extensial dread that used to be democracy vs. communism and now is woke vs. anti-woke. And to do that he needs to do his "gee whiz this Russia aint so bad, Putin is just a regular guy, and it makes me so mad about what is happening in America" Tour. But then you knew that.
  10. I get that part. What I do not get is why the start date of their affair matters.
  11. If we take the statements about the filing at face value, without yet examining the actual filing, or hearing a rebuttal of the conclusions, isn't "he was in her condo" just a possible reason? Presumably if he is in any building in proximity to the tower it will result in him hitting that tower. Without knowing more, it is more likely that he is in any other location that hits that tower than in the one specific location of her condo. That presumes that her condo is not the only location that hits the tower. Now, not having followed this part of the case at all, what difference does it make if they were smashing it? Serious question.
  12. Which raises other questions. Are you allowed to wrestle with COVID these days? Do they even test for that anymore? If you feel crappy, do they just say "hope you feel better"? Or do they do a COVID test? If so, is a positive a mandatory "do not wrestle"? Or is it like a cold or flu? You can wrestle if you feel well enough. And speaking of a cold or flu, if you can wrestle when you feel well enough with a cold or flu, is there a protocol that takes into account the other wrestler? Or is it just a gentlemen's agreement? I won't wrestle if I think I am sick so I don't get you sick.
  13. Having asked the question about the asterisk, @Interviewed_at_Weehawken has me convinced*. * No asterisk.
  14. What did Tucker leave out of his economics lesson? The per capita household income in Russia in 2023 was $7,083, down 11% from 2022 (https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/russia/annual-household-income-per-capita). So at $100 for a week of food for the crew that comes to $5,200 for a year, or 73.5% of annual household income. Meanwhile, in the capitalist hellscape known as the USA those groceries cost $400, by Carlson's completely unbiased estimate, or $20,800 which is 53.1% of per capita income. Stay in Russia Tucker.
  15. How, exactly, are you measuring "very beneficial for Russian business"? Or are you just watching too much Tucker Carlson makes shit up about Russia? "Holy cow, groceries are cheaper in Russia (but lets ignore that they are multiple times more expensive as a percentage of income, because I think my viewers are that dumb)."
  16. No. Especially when loan forgiveness is used as an incentive to take a job they would not have otherwise taken. You might as well say the GI Bill is as a result of a bad choice.
  17. Say O'Toole does the deed. Is he a four-timer, or a four-timer* ?
  18. Who says the forgiveness is only about poor choices?
