  1. Since you brought up spiral.....
  2. Not sure which emoji to use there.....lol. There's some truth to that, or massage therapy, and of course there used to be the sauna....personally, I use my hot tub now, in addition to an inversion table, traction rig and even a 2 piece neck brace that I sleep in if my neck is aggravated.....that's from 60+ years in the sport. I watched it, good match....if I remember right Braunagel got a takedown on the buzzer. It was a barn burner.
  3. I viewed the Max Dean/Braxton Amos situation...not sure I liked the part about the knee in the back, and I'm not sure the referee saw that. Amos might have needed a chiropractor/PT after that. Bent leg turk itself was fine (for college and up).
  4. LOL...there's truth to that, but off the mat, nicest guy in the world.
  5. WOW......this time, it timed out in the middle of my edit...HONEST....lol, but it did let me cut so I could paste at least, and thus proving that I was in the middle of my EDIT.....lol so here it is.....And as a sidenote, I do have very old books in my library that I acquired from a media specialist where I used to work.....from the 50's/60's and I know they used the term chickenwing then....but that was then and this is now....this is the modern era!!! Besides, I like to teach to the highest level.
  6. Oh, I can see where it came from ....it doesn't sound like the name of a move used in college or international wrestling, and this is a college forum...just like I kind of chuckle at, and even get in friendly arguments with some pretty "high level" coaches over the term "chicken wing".....I tell them "that is what you get at KFC or Buffalo Wild Wings".....to me they are called armbars. One of those coaches, and a great coach, terms the arm across the back an armbar....I call that a hammerlock. Argument closed....lol.
  7. You can call it the bow and arrow.....I call it a bent leg turk....part of the turk series...inside leg turk, outside leg turk, folded leg turk and the BENT LEG TURK as discussed by the great one Dave Schultz and demonstrated by one of his greatest protege's, David Lee. Have a couple of great videos in my library with Schultzie teaching leg wrestling ......some of my favorite videos. He turned legs into hip tips, bars and more. The Master and loved and respected by the Russians. Fadz https://fb.watch/hX9_t17Vn_/
  8. Got a phone call from a great friend yesterday, Lou Montano, who has been affiliated with both Cal Poly (who Michigan beat on Friday) and Cal State @ Bakersfield. It had been a long time .......we've had some great times together. Looking forward to watching, with some format, today's dual. One of the discussions I had with him was about one of my favorite California wrestlers of all-time, Joe Gonzales. Eric Guerrero's name came up too, as I first some him high school at the Ironman (from Independence High School). Fadz (yes, I was in America at that time to watch the Ironman)
  9. I have, but I still can't edit after 15 minutes
  10. On the floor....floor pass. One of 43 NCAA Championships....best time of year.
  11. There it goes again....left a few minutes to get dinner started, came back to look at my post...found a mistake and can't correct it already....DARN.... anyway, it should have read "Gable juggled his lineup along with Terry Steiner"....that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! (this time I proofread it immediately!
  12. Well here's a great one Lincoln got pulled out of redshirt right near Big Ten's as Gable juggled his lineup with along with Terry Steiner who won it the next weight up (150) ...this is a GREAT match....
  13. Yep, Albany.....also Cael's senior year.
  14. Think I read this some time ago, but thanks for sharing again! I might have a couple links you'd and I'll post them here for you and the forum.... https://nusports.com/sports/2015/6/26/MIDLANDS_0626155320.aspx https://nusports.com/documents/2016/1/13/Midlands_Record_Book.pdf http://www.win-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/year-by-year-at-midlands.pdf
  15. That wasn't meant to say coaches were "ducking" anyone, and I agree, athletes need to train and compete smart, including getting the correct amount of rest. It's also possible, in your season long schedule to work to peak for a tournament like Midlands, which is at semester, and then begin anew at the start of the second semester, making your second peaking phase for the conference and NCAA tournaments.
  16. For many years, Midlands was the place to wrestle after Christmas. In the early years, there wasn't much international stuff for our top post collegiate wrestlers to compete in, so you had for example in the early 70's, Gable, the Petersons, Behm, Taylor, Hellickson, Fujita, Schalles, Wojociechowski, Yagla, Azevedo, Gonzales and Kemp, all competing there. Because it was THE event back then, many of the top teams came. Having 3 tournaments in the same time frame has diluted all of the tournaments down..the Southern Scuffle, Midlands, and the Iowa whatever you want to call it....I know the "Salute". And there's other factors as well....I don't have time to even think about what coaches are thinking about why or why not to compete, and where to compete.
  17. Medicine Man is back!!! Welcome...nice to see you've still got those skills....Fadz HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  18. And if you believe that, I can show you where Jimmy Hoffa's body ended up.
  19. I guess we better proof read more carefully.....I've been there and done that as well.
