  1. Weird flex for a guy with a Wisconsin avatar, with their 0 semifinalists and two quarterfinalists.
  2. I believe I have two consi semifinalists, Courtney and Davison.
  3. I think this might be the best way. Particularly reversals are undervalued, IMO.
  4. Weird thing for them to argue after Murin's career persistence and what Warner is doing, but sure.
  5. Agreed I can't stop the memes from occurring, I'm just giving my opinion. For people divorced from the sport, I get why it would be funny. Stripped of the context, it's a funny thing. We're a small community, and we have the concept and know something of the players. Anyway, I don't want to belabor the argument, it's ok to disagree.
  6. Meh. Again, thin line. Some people are very clearly relishing in his and, grosser, his mother's pain. Mocking his wrestling style is fair game, IMO, but just drowning yourself in someone else's misery...I never found it funny. I don't mind humor in the least, I just think it should be pointed at the people who deserve it. If people wanted to dunk exclusively on Iowa fans and the coaches, we/they have earned that. Fans have rivalries with other fans, not with the athletes themselves. I do think there are exceptions for athletes who court that. Desanto being a recent Iowa example. Like i said, I just think there's space to poke fun and/or celebrate the huge upset without the other stuff. Example: someone (I think @SocraTease) posted he's still the best 1st period wrestler of all time. Mean, funny, and in-bounds, IMO. To each their own. Just one man offering his thoughts.
  7. It's weird to relish in Spencer and his mothers misery so much. Iowa fans? Obviously. Brands brothers? I get it. Maybe even Larry Lee with the binder thing. But full grown adults mocking the young man's (and that's not everybody here mind you) is always weird. It'd be one thing if Spencer was a cocky kid, but he's almost boring in his good-guyness. Like Metcalf earned that kind of reaction in college. Anyway, there's a fine line in celebrating seeing something crazy (which I don't think is weird) and mocking somebody's (or their mother's?) pain. Again, I would say there's no problem mocking Iowa fans (we earn it) or the coaches (they seem to crave it), but the athletes themselves unless they court it? Seems weird. And a mother feeling pain for her son? Yeesh. Just one man's opinion.
  8. Man, if it weren't for Lee, this would have been a great session for Iowa. Weird thing to write. For those that couldn't see, what was the score of Lee-Ramos at time of the fall?
  9. Lol, I'm raging that my JetBlue flights ESPN isn't working. I'm bummed for sure, but Iowa doesn't have me like THAT. They're just the team I happen to root for in collegiate wrestling. Only one team really gets me worked up. Those damned New York Giants. Super bummed for Spencer, though and the program. I always new this was a landmine, I was way more worried about Ramos than Glory, stylistically.
  10. Checking out for the evening boys. I'll probably miss the quarterfinals, but I'm hopeful I'll be able to watch the semifinals on the plane ride back to FL from NY (it's a one stopper, shouldn't have let the wife book).
  11. He trapped his arm, lifted him, and put him down directly on the shoulder he had trapped. Is what it is, I'm rooting for Davison due to my fantasy lineup, but that was clearly a slam, to me, under folkstyle rules.
  12. If they make the R12, Dean would have to beat the loser of Elam-Smith, while Warner would have to beat the loser of Bonaccorsi-Allred. He beat Allred earlier this year (barely) and Allred looks like a new guy. Obviously both guys would have to overcome the disappointment as seniors of losing and make it their, first.
  13. I mean, technically it's true that Hidlay is doubling Soldano up...but it's 2-1, lol.
  14. Soldano going to try to get weird with Hidlay, lol.
  15. Damn, I thought Assad had that first shot. IMO, you have to try to ride. Maybe you catch him and get him flat. Good match, though.
  16. I will brook no slander of Great American Hero Nelson Brands' name, and also, please do not check my post history on this subject.
  17. It's not fair to expect Demetrius Romero to be able to handle this newfangled scrambling. When he learned to wrestle, there were horsehair mats and Frank Gotch was just winding down his career.
  18. Man. Brands-Lewis is going to be a real barnburner, huh?
  19. NELSON BRANDS, NEVER A DOUBT, A TRUE AMERICAN HERO!!!!
  20. If Kennedy makes the Round of 12, he's going to have to beat the loser of David Carr-Shane Griffith to make AA.
  21. MatCast: "Lets go to Carter Starocci riding" Me: "...could we, like, not?"
  22. I did not see anything other than the end of the Kennedy-Amine match, so I have no idea what happened before, but I know I'm already annoyed at Amine for doing nothing and winning.
  23. Penn State's semifinal dominance is going to be running into Yianni's....Yianniness. Something must give.
