So as some of you might have heard, I couldn't' watch most of the NCAA tournament, so I didn't see this match until just now. Can anybody help me understand why the situation at the end was not backpoints for Murin? I just watched it, and the ref appears to be more concerned about looking for a non-controlled fall than the fact that Yianni's back looked to be exposed, especially at the beginning of the exchange.

I can't find a post where it was directly discussed. We have some votes so far, does anybody have any objection to paying out to third? It feels weird to me because i'm the one benefitting. Iowa won the team title two years ago and were heavy favorites to win it the year before that (heavier than the year they won it). Right now they're reloading, A lot will depend on Ayala, Chittum, Arnold, and Kueter (hopefully he wrestles) hitting. Drake looked really good as a true freshman until his shoulder injury. Chittum looks great in Free, but we know that doesn't always transfer styles. Arnold was really impressive this year, but will presumably redshirt if 5th place Nelson Brands returns. If the recruiting pans out this year and next year, I would say Iowa should be challenging for a title in two years. If it doesn't, they won't be (obvious statement is obvious).

I never saw Haines or Kerk as likely to win, and neither came close. Penn State also had things go in their favor with brackets falling apart and Labriola throwing himself to his back, but they still didn't break their own team record, let alone the tournament record.

No, it wasn't threatening, I never felt nervous they were going to break it, and returning champs placing lower is a thing that happens at the tournament.

Hey all. The payouts were never formalized in writing. Originally I had thought $250 to the champ and $70 to second, and that's it. It was suggested we pay out to third, and go something like $200, $80, $40. I had planned to do that, but then realized I never wrote it, and...well now I would benefit, so that feels wrong to unilaterally do.
