  1. Which would then be challenged dozens times and be enjoined from happening, which is why EOs shouldn't be used for extremely complicated issues and why Republicans have wanted the things being discussed to be done but, now that they're getting it, lots of them don't want it because they perceive it might help Biden politically or hurt Trump's election chances. Thank you for perfectly illustrating both your own ignorance and the point.
  2. Just a fundamental lack of understanding of how our government is designed. If Biden could do it, so could Trump. Why didn't he? Because it's not as simple as you say it is.
  3. No. Flattered, but no thanks. He did not, this is just a talking point you're regurgitating without anything to back it up. I did, for the first time in my entire life, vote for a Democrat for president in 2020. I can't remember every vote ever, but I'm pretty sure it was my second vote ever for a major office that was a Democrat. He did not. How do you know what I asked for? You're just arguing about things for the sake of arguing. Also, yes, there is clearly a problem on the border NOW. That doesn't mean there has always been a problem on the border. Captain Straw Man! Possibly, because I'm in Florida and all the Republicans here are insane. All in all, you're arguing like a 5 year old on this topic. It's akin to if, hypothetically, your house caught fire because your wife smoked and you refused to do anything about it because "it's her fault, and I told her not to smoke." As has been mentioned previously, this a problem that goes back decades and all previous administrations had failed to find a solution. Including under Trump, whose policies mostly curtailed LEGAL immigration and really didn't have much effect at all on ILLEGAL immigration. https://www.cato.org/blog/president-trump-reduced-legal-immigration-he-did-not-reduce-illegal-immigration https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2020/03/02/how-border-apprehensions-ice-arrests-and-deportations-have-changed-under-trump/ https://www.factcheck.org/2021/03/the-facts-on-the-increase-in-illegal-immigration/ https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-02-02/trump-didn-t-actually-accomplish-much-on-immigration?embedded-checkout=true This is just false. I know you struggle with basic civics understanding and, like, object permanence, but when legislation starts appearing or being discussed, it didn't just happen yesterday. It's typically the results of months or years of negotiating.
  4. For anyone thinking about going, I can't recommend it enough. Great time, basically a wrestling festival.
  5. It's also worth noting that there ARE Republicans trying to work on this issue. James Lankford is among the most conservative members of either house of Congress by voting record, and he's out here explaining how these changes to law and policy are needed, but because Donald Trump has said he wants it to fail to enhance his campaign, many people of that political persuasion are perfectly comfortable with it. Literally choosing party over country.
  6. And, as usual, it falls apart upon the slightest pushback, with Trump's lawyer herself already backing off the allegations. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-lawyer-alina-habba-makes-backs-conflict-allegation-e-jean-carrol-rcna136424
  7. Ahhh, yes, the rare 2 hour knee injury. He finished that match, yes? And the only match he was too hurt for was the David Carr rematch? What an unfortunate coincidence!
  8. I know, I know, everybody remembers, the whole Cornell team got injured after they all wrestled two duals earlier that day.
  9. Ok....but that's an argument without a point.
  10. Ifs and buts. WHY should the seeding have been different? Labs had one loss that season, to Starocci, the 1 seed. Foca had one loss, to the two seed. Foca's bes in-season win was, looking at it, Cade Devos? Labriola won the CKLV by beating Lewis, at the same event where Foca lost to him. Labriola had wins over Nelson Brands, multiple wins over Ethan Smith from Ohio State, and beat Cade Devos (Foca's best win) by a bigger margin of 4-0. There wasn't a realistic reason why Foca should have been seeded over Labriola or Lewis.
  11. Gomez is a tremendous wrestler and lots of fun...but it feels like there's just always something that happens. Snake-bitten. I'd guess it happens again, I say we get Lovett over Henson in the finals.
  12. The problem with the Askrens is something that is on Bono to fix. That may not feel fair to him, but losing access to the best in-state prospects who are continuously generating high level talent is something the head coach has to find a way to fix.
  13. Rankings are about parsing who has the best resume, not predicting who will win. Mesenbrink doesn't have a top 4 resume. Yet.
  14. I'm the complete opposite, lol. I think Ayala is a strong match up against DeAugustino, but I struggle to see Kennedy's path towards beating Griffith, though I'd love to see it. I think he just leaves himself too open to counters for a guy like Griffith, and has a history of struggling against length.
  15. For the purposes of this conversation? Mostly yes. It's a different sport. Vito just won senior worlds, and he's not maintaining a ranking based off that, and he's got a much bigger body of work in this (folkstyle) sport. He's beating guys by big numbers, but none of the best guys in his weight class...yet. Again, I anticipate he's going to be the B1G champ and have a top 3 seed, but he still has to actually do it. This is just not true. He hasn't demonstrated success at a level ONLY matched by KO and Carr, and his ranked wins are over guys ranked 10th or lower. Rankings are based on results, not predictions.
  16. Wrestlestat, I believe, uses an ELO based algorithm which takes into account the prior seasons as well, though the weight goes down the further away we get.
  17. I was only using it as an alternative to the person-based rankings. I agree, certainly not foolproof.
  18. ...but he hasn't beaten anybody close to the level of what you're talking about. Even under wrestlestat's algorithmic approach, Mesenbrink is ranked 8th. Again, it's ok to have him prove his greatness on the mat. He's going to have the opportunity.
  19. We've seen this a million times, it's ok for a freshman to have to earn a ranking. His best win is over an injured Cam Amine. He'll have the opportunity against Caliendo and Hamiti. Personally, I believe he's third behind Carr and O'Toole at NCAAs, but it's ok that we have him prove it on the mat. And to whomever said putting Carr Tier 2 is the wildest thing said, they're wrong. THIS is the wildest thing said. I'm not guaranteeing Carr will beat Mesenbrink (though I would predict it). But to say you doubt that David freaking Carr can beat a still relatively unproven Mesenbrink is WILD.
  20. 125: Ayala DEC DeAugustino 133: Ragusin DEC Schriever 141: Woods MDEC Lemley (Why did UM forfeit this weight against Ohio State?) 149: Gomez DEC Voinivich/Rathjen (big swing point; does Gomez wrestle? If so, it could be anywhere from a decision to a pin.) 157: Franek DEC Lewan 165: Caliendo DEC Amine 174: Griffith DEC Kennedy 184: Bullock DEC Riggins 197: Glazier MDEC Rogers HWT: Davidson MDEC Hill 17-16 Iowa, I think? Bunch of moving parts.
  21. Kennedy is severely underrated because he's not as good as Caliendo. Of course he's not beating Starocci, but he's really good!
  22. We literally have Republican Senators on the record telling us they're not allowed to do anything on the border because Trump wants it to run on it. That's where the Republican Party is on this issue. This, of course, is NOT the logic at all, because the indigenous people who lived here before we got here didn't even really know Europe existed nor did they take a hand in geopolitics or take a hand in destabilizing the regions in question.
  23. The idea of them returning this season seems ridiculous to me, way too quick a turnaround for the NCAA. I also tend to think, like @Le duke, that the NCAA is not bound by the "fruit of the poisonous tree" argument regarding how this information was obtained, just that it exists. However, I am also on the side that says there's no way these kids should have been punished this way UNLESS they bet on their team.
