  1. Good example of this was Jacob Lininger about 20 years ago. He was a ncaa qualifier at Hwt for Pitt, he was probably about 30-10, he transfers to 2x defending champs Minnesota and drops to 197 to enter the lineup and replace Owen Elzen after 3rd and 4th place finishes the past 2 years. He was not wrestling well at all, maybe .500 at midseason when Damion Hahn moved up to win his first of 2 titles in a row. I really thought he would get good in the gophers room.
  2. Actually he has to be right up there. This list is 5 years old and we have lost some old timers recently in Tom Borelli, John Smith, Greg Williams, Jim Heffernan, Jim and Lennie Zalesky. Steve Martin. I’m not sure any current head coach is as old as Barry Davis. https://www.trackwrestling.com/PortalPost.jsp?postId=1728706132
  3. I think Salazar will do great at ASU.
  4. Not sure if I can see Davis doing well in this position. After being a head coach for 25 years, it’s gotta be tough taking the back seat. Plus I can’t see him getting on the mat anymore like most assistants do.
  5. I 100% agree, for all the years he was in the lineup, he was a 10-15 ranked guy whether he was at 174 or 184. He wrestled well at NCAAs to AA but who did he best? He beat Peyton Mocco, Edmond Ruth, Alex Faison, Ethan Smith and a sucked down HEW Dustin Plott after 3 days of weigh ins to place 5th. Not one time in his 7 matches did he break one open, the most points he scored was 6 in a match. Now if he was beating these guys 14-5 with multiple takedowns I could see the arguments for him. He just as easily can go 0-2 BBQ with these point totals. Gabe Arnold will dictation who goes where but I think Kennedy beats Brands out for 174, he has way more potential to put points up
  6. Dake is done after this cycle, he will be 37 at next OTT.
  7. Sam Latona not Italian? That’s like a mobster name
  8. Is VTech the new Rutgers with all the Italians on the roster and now adding street cred by a Italian coach too?
  9. He isn’t doing this for NCAA glory. The money has dried up and he need a check. He has a high maintenance IG model GF to take care of
  10. Has he officially retired from competition? Based on the Fix interview and what everyone is posting, it sounds as if he is finished.
  11. Obviously we want Wells at 133, can he make the weight all season and be effective?
  12. I think this just solidity’s Tyler Wells redshirting next season. He just wrestled 65kg at U20. Morvari did pretty well last season, I assume Flynn is going 125 125-Cooper Flynn Jr 133-Brandon Morvari Fr 141-Vance Vombaur-Jr 149-Drew Roberts Jr 157-Tommy Askey Jr 165-Blaine Brenner Jr 174-Clayton Whiting So 184-Max McEnelly Fr 197-Isaiah Salazar Sr Hwt-Bennett Tabor Jr I think next year you bump Wells to 141 and Vombaur to 149. If Wells can make 133 again this will be a top 5 ranked dual team with all 10 qualifying and probably 5 AAs. In 2025-26 if we retain all our talent I think Hopke builds into a real AA contender as a Fr and Millard takes over 165 as a FR
  13. If he follows Nancy Pelosi stock moves, he will have a 50% rate of return
  14. Outside of Cody Caldwell being retained by Damion Hahn at SDSU I can’t remember the last assistant retained from a outside coach coming in.
