  1. The United Center or the Allstate Arena (fka Rosemont Horizon). How is this complicated?
  2. Sure, at the NCAA tournament level they are tough to come by. but in a regular duals, I saw quite a few techs this year. Doesn't take too many turns to tech an inferior wrestler. In reality, that may be a good thing though. sort of a penalty for not being able to put away the match by fall, once you turn them a third time and don't pin, it'll just be a TF.
  3. If anything, 3pt TD could be seen as compensating for bumping up NF to 4 some years back. edit: misread TF as NF, so my post doesn’t really make sense. Still, I think a major even with 3 pt TD is fine. majors aren’t east to come by against good competition. Will see how this goes though. If majors come too easy, I’m wiling to change my mind. techs are already kind of too easy due to 4pt near falls, so I do agree with you on the matter if tech falls.
  4. (Effectively) Taking away riding time just encourages stalling on bottom.
  5. Also crazy how much stuff is on video and easily accessible online these days!
  6. another observation about 3-point takedown were it to be approved. I don't think it would impact too many match outcomes W or L, but it certainly will make it easier to score a major decision, which I think is a good thing for duals. Currently to get a major, it's a takes quite a bit of work, but with 3 for a TD, I'm thinking you could have a major from a match that looks much closer that it would have in the past. edit: oops, looks like this point was already made but i hadn't read the reply above before submitting!
  7. It sort of devalues a reversal to a degree. not sure on coupling this with the riding time proposal. Doesn't making it tougher to get riding time incentivize stalling on bottom? If nothing else, it encourages choosing down a tiny bit.
  8. I like the regionals idea. makes things more fair. It would sort of come at the expense of a late-season conference tournament though, especially an important one like B1G. Maybe hold big 10s earlier in the season?
  9. Indianapolis is certainly a great sports city. And being in the midwest, not to mention the city of the NCAA headquarters, it's almost shocking that they haven't hosted an NCAA wrestling tournament. Obviously not as cool a location as St. Louis, but would be an excellent site. Edit: Looks like 2025 DII will be in Indy, so the city isn't completely averse to wrestling.
  10. Whoever ever created the graphic in the first post seems to be playing fast and loose with exclamation points... Wear your headgear, kids!
  11. The phrase goes back at least to the 70s, as evidenced by former wrestler, Robin Williams wow, that was prescient. Almost 30 years later the astronomy nerds finally downgraded Pluto.
  12. Sometimes one might add an asterisk to a title won by an athlete from a country with a recent history of getting sanctioned for state-sponsored doping. Add in the military actions that Russia has taken, and it isn’t really a tough decision to want to exclude them completely.
  13. And why is half of the Northwest Territory in the Eastern time zone?
  14. Huh? Lee, the #1 wrestler in the country at 125 lost in a big upset in the semi-finals of the NCAAs. Clark WON in the semi-finals of the NCAAs in a huge upset of an undefeated favorite. Iowa WBB is the Matt Ramos in this story.
  15. Wait, those pointless UV squeegees are called STERILASERS. What a world we live in!
  16. I like Huff Gym! been to about a dozen wrestling duals there over the years, and it's really the perfect venue for sports that don't draw huge crowds. Parking can be annoying though, but just have to allow the extra time to park a few streets down if the lot is full. Did you know that the term "March Madness" was coined in Huff Hall https://www.ihsa.org/Sports-Activities/March-Madness-Experience/March-Madness-History (okay, that's basketball related, so probably not so important...also apparently some in Indiana take issue with Illinoisans claiming to have invented the term https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/2021/03/16/ncaa-illinois-own-march-madness-indiana-invented/4707664001/ ) Either way, the Illini wrestling team has moved their competition venue to the State Farm Center in recent years. Hopefully better for recruiting (It's been the venue for the HS state tournament for over half a century, of course!). I'm mixed on the move, personally. Parking is much easier, and when the crowd is into the wrestling, it's fun. when the crowd isn't engaged, it seems kind of empty and echoey. Anyway, the wrestling is usually good, so as long as the athletes like it, I'm happy to walk through the unnecessary metal detectors in order to enjoy the show. Best of all, like almost all Illini sporting events, admission is free, the exceptions being football and men's (can get pricy) and women's ($5/ticket) hoops. I actually visited this arena this year to watch the Northwestern vs Illinois dual. I had been having so much fun watching the home duals in Champaign I figured it was worth driving a couple of hours for what looked to be a good matchup. Was a super exciting dual, even though NU beat Illinois on criteria. It's smaller capacity than the state farm center, but still way oversized for the fan turnout. I think my ticket in cost $7 dollars, so quite a bit more expensive than I had been paying at home too...
  17. No, that's "A.M., ugh.", or the sound many of us make in the morning before we've had a chance go grab a cup of coffee.
  18. If Spence doesn’t review tape, I doubt he’s a message board guy. Might be Mrs Lee
  19. B1G had finalists at 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 174 (x2), 184, and HWT (x2), so only half of the tournament's finalists. You have to keep in mind that some elite wrestlers may not quite have the academic chops to make it at a big ten institution.
  20. Pure speculation on my part, and not trying to imply that glory wasn’t a completely worthy champion or take away from his impressive season and title run. For some reason Ramos just matched up against lee really well. of course lee not wrestling back for third does sort of hurt the validity of my assertion a bit.
  21. Lee would have won in the final against Glory.
  22. I heard he reached out to Penn State, offering to cut all the way to 25 if necessary, but was told he would not be a fit for that particular spot in their lineup.
  23. What's more obnoxious, Brooks, completely unprompted, calling out one of the most popular religions in the world, or C.S. referring to DII as "beginner level", or whatever he said.
