I saw JB do an interview in which he referred to the gift as a way to thank him for not wrestling in the World Cup, as if it were a bribe or something. This was the absolute opposite of "gracious, charming, articulate and engaging". It was actually responding to a sign of respect with an overt sign of disrespect on the international stage. Yazdani was prepared to face Burroughs, and Hassan was at the top of his game at 74kg at that time. The results? Fair enough. I guess that's the root of the idiom "resting on your laurels". In ancient Greece, the laurel was a plant that was sacred to Apollo. Winning athletes at the Pythian Games received laurel wreaths. The wheel does always turn, and as a PSU fan I look forward to seeing other teams rising up and a multipolar NCAA tournament. Unipolarism is ugly and boring, both in NCAA wrestling and in geopolitics. I hope PSU continues to reload and face tough competition. The Ohio State has a tough young team of hammers. Cornell has a lot of depth. NCAA tournaments will continue to be exciting, and there's no place to rest on the laurels, even for PSU.

THIS is the right attitude when another team reaches a goal and breaks a record. It demonstrates a fan who is able to remove his homer glasses and recognize a great team and performance. I feel you on Kasak. The kid stepped up in a major way this year, filling in up a weight class for an injured SVN, wrestling an amazing season and then showing the heart to wrestle back for third after dropping his first match. Root for your wrestlers and your teams. Why would Hawk fans be rooting more for PSU not to break the (ancient) record than for their own team to perform well? Mr. PeanutButter, I salute you. I had/have little doubt that Brooks would win the NCAA tournament at 197. Beating Olympic and World Champion David Taylor at the Olympic trials this year is an entirely different thing. It absolutely IS in question, especially since Taylor took care of business the last time they met. Brooks has certainly continued to improve, at least in beating up the best of the field at 197 this year. Doing that is much different than beating David Taylor in freestyle.

Absolutely. That's no longer the question for me. The question for me is whether he can take out David Taylor in the Olympic Trials.

To clarify your statement, if you are born with ONE American parent in a foreign country, you are a natural born American citizen. You can run for and become the President of the United States. Contrast this with "naturalized citizen", which refers to someone who was born the citizen of another country, not a dual-citizen of the United States, who later became a citizen of the US. These people can not become the President of the US, someone like Arnold Shwarzenegger. Regarding citizenship, I have recently found out that I am eligible for Italian citizenship, as my great-grandfather, an immigrant to the US, never naturalized, or became a US citizen, in his lifetime. That means that his son (my grandfather), born in the US, a citizen who fought for the US in WW1, was an Italian citizen; my father, because my grandfather was the son of an Italian citizen, was also an Italian citizen, though my dad never knew it during his life. My brother has recently applied, provided evidence, and received Italian citizenship. Any grandchild of my grandfather can now follow the trail that my brother broke and get Italian citizenship. Don't worry! They're all too old to go over there and wrestle for Italy!

Despite the baby face, Braeden Davis is certainly not in a boy's body. As a matter of fact, his strength is impressive. He gave DeAug fits with his control of his arm much of the time they were standing. In addition, his riding was incredible; he was a real backpack, and DeAug was VERY active from the bottom. He finally got his escape after Davis rode him for 1:45 of the second period. It's good to finally see this young man getting the respect he deserves. Let's see how he does against Ayala. Barn burner for sure.

So I'm a PSU fan, originally from just an hour south of Allentown / Bethlehem on Route 100. I like watching some Lehigh matches, but the Nittany Lions are my team. I just can't understand how there's a post on this forum on Christian Pyles and his farting on a video, but there's bupkis about the nailbiter of a dual between Lehigh and Cornell. Excellent dual, with a few take aways. First, Crookham is a beast, and I won't be surprised if he takes 133 as a freshman. Second, Shapiro is excellent, but he's overrated. I don't see him making the finals, but I think he will AA. Third, Foca is a VERY offensive wrestler, and he could go very far this year. Fourth, Beard is wrestling tough, and if he can stay consistent, he will be a threat at 197. Finally, what an excellent EIWA dual!

Yes you can The jewel has facets, and it is possible that many religions are moderately true. Name that book. Then go buy a copy for yourself...and send one copy to Aaron Brooks. Brooks is 23. He will mature and gain a deeper understanding of God, humanity and this world that we live in.

Thank you for posting your video. It's wonderful. I loved it, as I love the Alistair Sims version of A Christmas Carol dearly. Your video is quite enlightening, providing a cool analysis of the beginning of the story, the background story of Laura Bridgeman and Dickens' writing about her. Very nice. One small quibble: I would avoid words like ridiculous when discussing this serious piece of literature that is everything that you so clearly expressed; it is a call to the reader to improve himself, and to do good in the world. It reminds me of some of the writings of Leo Tolstoy, who in one of his autobiographies lays out what he sees as our duty and responsibility as humans: to take this journey and make it one in which we improve incrementally, doing more good for others in the world.
