  1. Wasn't it the loss to an old Sharifov in the world semis that made him switch? Regardless, as good as PSU is, it didn't work. I don't think he's any better than he was before.
  2. https://uww.org/article/sadulaev-ruled-ineligible-compete-uww-panel
  3. No, don't get me wrong. I agree his chances at 74 are essentially close to 0. I just think that it's the same at 65 but add a big weight cut on top of it. Keep in mind he'd have to cut to 65, win the trials, cut weight again to 65 in a matter of weeks and then qualify the weight. Close to impossible IMO.
  4. Really? I disagree. Watch his world final vs Chamizo. He was noticeably taller and more muscular. Clearly bigger. Most 70 guys have gone to 74. I think he has this idea that he can succeed at 65 through being a weight bully. It just isn't going to happen. This is the hardest weight. He was a borderline medal guy at 70.
  5. He has a better chance at 74 without the huge cut. Both extremely low of course. He was losing to Mexico ( when Mexico had actual Mexicans in their team) one of the previous times he attempted this weight. He is not a 65 guy.
  6. Why does he do this to himself every 4 years since 2016 and why does no one in his circle have an honest conversation with him that it's never going to work out at this weight and that he's only hurting himself?
  7. Am I an idiot for thinking Parris is the superior wrestler? Masoumi is just so big and strong it's very hard to deal with. On some of his step outs the guys are lifted off their feet.
  8. That's tough. He lost in the semis. The guy who beat him did win the final. I wonder what happens if this Kiyoka guy fails to qualify at the asian qualifier. Did that not happen in the 2020 qualifier where higuchi missed weight and so Takahashi got the shot at the last chance qualifier?
  9. Micic just pooped himself watching the spencer lee semi final
  10. What was the bad call? Either Hungary has a lot of pull in UWW or it was an all time officiating botch. Anyone know?
  11. Bagaev is very mediocre. Brooks will win.
  12. Props to Albania for sticking to the laws of the land. I'm sure the pressure to break their laws for one of the biggest events in global sport was massive.
  13. So, after some time on wikiperdia: Judo = 14 weights total 7 mens 7 womens Weightlifting= 10 weights total with 5 men's and 5 womens Boxing = 13 weights total with 7 men's divisions and 6 for women I see no way we get more weights considering we already have the most by far. Maybe if a style is cut we can add some weights to the remaining two styles. The only avenue I see, and it is a super long shot, is that with all these transfers from places like America and Russia winning medals for non-wrestling countries, the olympic committees of those countries start advocating for more weights for wrestling. Highly doubt it happens but that is the only way I see us going above the current 18.
  14. We technically have 18 weights. I believe that is the most of any olympic sport that has weight classes.
  15. No. And if they add women's greco it could get really ugly with 4 weights per style. I am surprised greco has survived this long being the only olympic sport without a women's division. I believe UWW even had a plan to cut greco but I am unsure what became of that. If they do make the mistake of keeping greco I think they should kap it at around 77kg. The weights above that are particularly unwatchable even by GR standards. Of course they should allow Lopez to win his 5th Olympic gold first and make history. But I would not miss it if it was gone after Paris and the weights were given to FS.
  16. His face didn't look like a guy who's cut weight either. Higuchi's bones were coming out his face. Uguev the same, and if anyone can make 57 and look decent it would be him as Uguev is a tiny, tiny human. Micic is the naturally bigger person out of all these guys AND looked the healthiest and least drained. Again, to me he didn't look like a guy who had cut weight. Then you look at Micic's instagram and you see posts from after Tokyo about he's going to have to go up to 65kg and stuff and it becomes even more suspicious... Genuinely on the fence about this. I think there is a decent chance UWW/Lalovic pulled some BS. There were complaints from wrestlers about their greco team not cutting last year. Keep the conspiracies coming. Lets see how he does in Paris.
  17. Too late now. But in 2017 I was of the opinion he should/could have stayed. He was not a monstrously big 86. But he's changed his body now.
  18. This guy wrestled U17 worlds and got silver at 58kg all the way back in 2016. Is he the only noteable wrestler ever to try and wrestle on the senior level at a weight lower than they did at the U17 age group?
  19. Thought the same regarding Bolt and Mo, lol it seems every year before the olympics a monster emerges who ends up being a flop. But to give him credit he's young ( I think still a junior?), and actually did it in the tournament that matters unlike bolt and mohammadian. Bolt didn't wreck Snyder at the Yarygin that year either if I remember right he just beat him 3 - 1 or something.
  20. Relieved. I know you guys were all getting ready to make me eat crow. Thank you Mr Musukaev!
  21. By his standards his motor has looked good today despite wrestling gold medal calibre guys back to back to back. Hard to believe he can't do 6 more minutes with a worse guy than all of those after a whole day rest.
  22. There is a tiny handful of guys who can beat this Musukaev that has shown up in Belgrade. He won the gold in the semi final. Yes I am setting my self up to get dunked on but I believe it and see no way he loses to seabass
