  1. Patrick Queen 6'-0" 230lbs Bobby Wagner 6'-0" 240lbs Roquan Smith 6'-1" 236lbs Fred Warner 6'-3" 230lbs All right in line with your thoughts. There are no more Levon Kirklands out there.
  2. I obviously don't know his situation but I have been around a Big Ten football program and they often know pretty fast no matter what a recruit ranking was if they think that guy can be a player. In Kueter they see a guy with options so maybe they advised him of his best option. You don't step away from a program from a year and come back better. Or maybe he just prefers wrestling.
  3. I hate to be that guy but his "choice" probably came from a heart to heart with Ferentz. Not in the plans. It's not 100% but after a season they probably fell like they know what they have in him.
  4. Does he even get the chance to compete for it? Sometimes coaches make promises, and they won't back pedal even if they are wrong.
  5. When guys move up it is almost a stock answer to say that, "I wanted to focus on getting better at wrestling not cutting weight." I always wonder about weight classes then I stood next to Zain Retherford in Moe's one day and next to Bo Bartlett at a convenience store another time and realized these guys are pretty small overall.
  6. It is funny people say that he has the athleticism, but I don't think anyone knows how athletic he is compared to guys that are the freakiest of freak athletes. The size and speed of NFL players is just different from other sports.
  7. It is really hard to say what Cael would have done internationally had he dedicated to it. He didn't go to the World Championships in 2001 to focus on folk and the US didn't go in 2002. So, he won silver in 2003 and won Olympics in 2004 and that was it until he came back in 2011 at 32 without almost a decade of competition and finished 5th. That really isn't too bad for not really focusing on F/S.
  8. How can you go wrong with Jan Michael Vincent, Tim Conway and John Amos. He really isn't all that athletic. He is for his sport but not in the big picture of sports. There is no place for him in football.
  9. Well since Dake rarely loses and never loses to Americans I would say not until it is clear he is done. So solid and strong. The only one I could even see is Starocci. He is a guy that is playing the same game as Dake.
  10. I can trim down a bunch of athletes in a hurry. Eliminate - BMX Racing and BMX Freestyle, 3x3Basketball, Sport Climbing, Flag Football, Trampoline, Golf and Skateboarding. That should be enough spots for full weight classes. These events should have never been in the Olympics.
  11. What is the problem? They must be strikes since he called them strikes. The bigger issue is worth MLB not being able to get rid of him.
  12. I am not sure, but I think you know when you are outclassed. When you feel the opponent's strength and motor.
  13. I have never booed anybody at any sporting event, not even Angel Hernandez or Angel Rivera. It doesn't make me feel any better so I don't. These social media fights get fans riled up. Cormier got JB to go a little heel at NCAA's which led to back and forth. You can argue about who the heel was but at the Bryce Jordan Center it was always going to be JB. I really don't see it as a big deal either way. I can't control how people act and react.
  14. I doubt that is the case. Considering no one has beat him since Kemerer in March of 2021. He doesn't strike as a guy that even considers losing. He will have to learn though as I think he is another true tweener in Olympic years.
  15. I will say that 125kg is really interesting to me especially without Steveson
  16. I personally think that it can really take some guys a long time to be good at freestyle. Knowing when to give up positions seems to be really important. FS seems to have a lot of gaming involved. Getting taken down get to the edge and only give up one. Force the ref to call fleeing. In on a deep shot can easily lead to getting yourself exposed. I don't know what others think but it seems to me to be something you have to learn.
  17. Depends if you are looking at walking and being in downtown or open to other places. Most all of these spots are within 5-miles of the BJC. The downtown bar scene is what you would expect in a college town. A new place just opened on Allen Street haven't been there myself but it looks like a good space. food beyond the typical bar fare in town - Central Reservation | State College's Newest Bar, Local Whiskey | State College's Premier Whiskey Bar (localwhiskeybar.com) both near the corner of Beaver and Allen are pretty respectable. Allen Street Grill cocktails + dining and The Tavern Restaurant - State College, PA will dig a little deeper into your pocket but both are pretty good. Driving out of town I would say Champs Sports Grill | State College's Best Sports Bar, HOME | Happy Valley Brew Co (happyvalleybeer.com), Otto's Pub and Brewery | Craft Brewery | 2235 North Atherton Street, State College, PA USA (ottospubandbrewery.com), and Barrel 21 Distillery & Dining | craft spirits | 2255 North Atherton Street, State College, PA, USA are all pretty decent. There are others that I have missed but this is a good place to start. Others will I am sure have other spots.
  18. It is really recruiting. I think the time of finding diamonds in the rough and coaching them up is mostly over. The best kids are wrestling the best kids all over the country and the world. The top guys in recruiting rankings really are the top guys now. Coaching is about having enough flexibility to know what each guy needs to be his best version.
  19. Didn't Nagao come into the season with some kind of injury? At one point is was said to be pretty serious but he missed limited time. It does take time to adjust to a new team even if it is the same philosophy. I wonder if part of the Cael approach requires you to know how much you need to be pushed yourself. Some guys need the grind and you have to know if that is who you are. Nagao did show some really bad takedown defense this year. He wrestled a lot of close matches and ended up on the wrong side. Crookham 4-6, Ragusin SV Pin, Bouzakis 7-13, Shawver SV 6-9 were his regular season losses. He seemed overwhelmed by Yarbrough's pace and could never get going. It will be interesting to see what happens next year.
  20. I think you have to look at the context of the match not just the score. Keck wasn't close to a takedown at any point and he gave up riding time. He was handled.
  21. The trials are only the small part. Win that and then the work begins.
