I Was able to watch Max Leete this past weekend at the EIWA Tournament at Bucknell. Your article did a good job discussing his Blindness and how he wrestles. However I do feel that starting on your feet while having to have both hand touching is a huge disadvantage for the opponent. It was clear when a 2023 Wold Champ and 2023 NCAA Champ Vito A from Cornell only beat him 4-2 and clearly was at a disadvantage since he normally shoots from the outside. Now that a take down is worth 3 points starting on your feet this was is a clear disadvantage for any opponent. I noticed that Max wears Classed and looked like he was able to see fine with those on. Why does he not just wear goggles or a face mask over his glasses and wrestle as normal. Then the opponents will not be at a huge disadvantage??? This seem doing this would be fair for both wrestler???
Again this was just an observation and I'm not trying to say he has no Visual impairment. But the few matched I saw him wrestle he had a huge advantage in the standing position, and that is wrong. I would like to hear your insight, all the wrestlers and coaches I spoke with agreed with my observation. Thank you for your time.
