  1. Rocky was nursing something at the beginning and didn’t wrestle much. Quite a few guys have had a rough season with injuries also, Surtin, Brown, etc. . O’Toole, Mauller, and Rocky didn’t go to scuffle. Also I just have a feeling more and more coaches are going to have their guys wrestle fewer matches. No need to wrestle a lot when duals are for the most part meaningless
  2. More than a bunch, not as much as an unbelievable ***duck duck goose** lot.
  3. Was Connor, and his eye didn’t fall out. Nose was broken
  4. Video of Smith talking about holding them out on flo.
  5. Guess I should have clarified better. I meant after these next couple of years. With added year and some guys that had a lot of matches gone. Seems the new way of going about the season is limit number of matches and or banging of the body until end of year when it matters. Appears to me that we are going to have a vast majority of wrestlers that might have between 15-20 matches going into NCAA’s. By the way both Mauller and Jacques are going to go over 100.
  6. The way coaches are conserving their wrestlers are we going to see any more 100 win careers again?
  7. Askren, in my opinion, was just as good or better at mma than Chandler and Woodley. Unfortunately when most get to see him was at the end of his career in the ufc where he was hampered by a serious hip injury. That injury made him just a shell of himself. In his prime he would have been a formidable foe for just about anyone. He probably should have stayed retired and not fought in the ufc but he had a dream. A dream that was shattered by a knee to the face. Plus I’m sure he made a shit load of money
  8. He might as well start UFC career now. I don’t see him winning a spot to wrestle in the Olympics.
  9. Andonian probably wins versus Jacques but I doubt him bonuses him. Wouldn’t be shock to see Jacques win. Most of Jacques matches are low scoring affairs.
  10. Unfortunately I think your right. I’m a little biased toward him because he was in the room with my son when they first started wrestling. I can remember drilling moves and after just messing with the kids, playing, and thinking holy cow this kid is strong for a 5yr old.
  11. Haven’t had time to swing by and ask coach Smith questions yet, but in the dual against WV Hawks wrestled 197. Looked undersized and lacked the horsepower needed.
  12. After worlds last year Cox said the journey to 97kg started the next day. Guess he wants to be able to fully grow into the weight. And I agree with the most recent times he and Snyder have wrestled it seems to be an uphill battle for Cox.
  13. Peyton’s parents were sitting close to where my wife and myself were sitting. After the match they got up, I’m sure to go see there son. I told them to let him know he did a hell of a job.
  14. Missouri has worked its tail off to have a top 10 team for about the last 15 years or better and if we get a thousand fans to come out and support that is a lot. I know wrestling isn’t mainstream but just once I would love the Hearns packed with fans.
  15. Most of it is the eye test. If parents are small in stature good bet the offspring will be as well and vise versa. Gives a good idea but not always.
  16. I know and that does help but doesn’t always equate.
  17. At those lower weights it’s hard to count on them staying there for long period of time. Never know about growth spurts. Especially while they are still in high school.
  18. I agree with 125 assessment but things have a way of working out. Iowa had several 125 studs at the same time (McDonough, Clark etc.) but they found a place. Never have to much talent.
  19. Such a shame his career has been riddled with so many major injuries. I thought for sure he would be a multi time world and Olympic champion. Now I hope for him he just gets to experience going. So many people talented people in all sports don’t get to pursue their dreams because injuries, hope he doesn’t get added to that list. Imagine if his body wouldn’t have betrayed him.
  20. Who’s headed to the Hearns Friday night for the West Virginia dual?
  21. McDonough was hurt the year he threw his trophy for second or third, can’t remember, in the trash after the picture of the podium at big ten tournament. Can’t remember year. 2007 or 2008? Somewhere in that Time frame. Shoulder.
  22. Those are all good questions. There is some good talent at 157 in the room. Would like to see how Steed develops, plus Fisher and Gioffre are tough but need to take another step. Mauller wrestled 157 last year but I thought he was small. Whiting has great positioning but needs to work on attacks. Sinclair is a stud but I have not seen him go so I can’t give any thoughts in honesty. Depends on his transition to the next level. Cliché I know, but some can make the jump and others it takes awhile. Hawks I would love see get a shot at 184. Any of our 184 guys going up by next year are going to be undersized. More to ask coach, see if he will give any insight. There’s always a plan but you well know in wrestling lots can happen. Thinks don’t always shake out how we would like.
