It’s not me or anyone else that is going to change him, it’s going to have to be himself that comes to that realization that change is necessary. Hopefully whatever consequence happens because of his actions will help him learn, instead of push him further away from being a productive citizen in society. The choice is his, and by what I have seen and been informed of prior instances, a little luck for him probably wouldn’t hurt.

I believe in second chances. Shoot, I have had plenty of second chances. I don’t want to throw anybody away if I can help it. I think the two young men should be brought together. Sit down and discuss what happened (with parental supervision for both) and why it happened to avoid any further instances similar that might occur in the future. For both of them as well as everyone else. Good example to use on the wrong way to conduct yourself. Most people learn best through their failures. This young man deserves to prove he is capable of such a lesson and become a better human being in the process. If he cannot then unfortunately society will have to determine his outcome. Let’s hope he chooses correctly.

Oh I understand what you said. I just think he felt humiliated by taking an ass kicking on the mat. Not cheated, embarrassed and couldn’t deal with it properly in the moment. Emotions run high in the heat of battle.
-
If he got cheated it must have been pretty bad because the match was 14-2.

Horrible. That’s a coward move, especially when the other person has their hand out to shake. On the other hand looks as the kid who threw the punch might want to make a change in sport and take up either mma or boxing.

Wrestling is not making any revenue period. They are a drain on revenue unless you have huge donors or lots of donors giving to the program. Tv deals for schools are for football and basketball. If a school wants a team it’s not because they make the school money with maybe a few exceptions. You make my point for me about the scholarships, I probably just do a poor job of explaining. Let each school do how many scholarships they want. Whether it’s the school picking up the tab, financial assistance, or NIL money. Will some schools get more talent than others, sure, but that is the case now. I think with wrestling governing themselves instead of NCAA maybe they can escape the title IX requirements. I don’t know how that would work but if it did work out then maybe more schools would add programs. 40-50 years ago their were way more wrestling programs than today and it’s not because the schools were making money from them. By having geographical conferences this might create a buzz in the wrestling community and spread out the talent more. Just trying to think outside the box.

I would like to see collegiate wrestling do away with the conferences the way they are now and make their own geographically. The way conferences are built now are by revenue from tv package or selling merchandise. Let’s face it wrestling, except maybe psu or Iowa, isn’t making profits. If they are I think their profits are minimal at best. Have 10-15 universities in each geographical conference across the country. Will cut down on travel expenses for teams making them more viable. Best scenario I think is for collegiate wrestling is to conference and govern themselves. This way they are no longer handicapped by 9.9 scholarships. Each institution can do whatever they like, which more than likely they do anyway. There is a reason the best programs are the best, they have the most money and resources available for their programs.

Hell I think Starocci is a big 174lber. 163 would seem to be a big cut for him.

Headgear should be optional. I think top wrestler should always work for the turn. I feel the stall call has helped with going off the mat on the feet, let’s stick with this for awhile. Should start calling top guys who run opponent out on purpose more. Most of the other stuff is so subjective I’m afraid there will be little consistency from call to call let alone match to match or duals, refs etc..

No, your supposed to get the light inside the body

You said he only had 3 years of eligibility. He had 4. His total number of pins were for four years of competition. Yes he had 19 more than Ben.
-
Yes, but he did compete for four years.

Schalles wrestled 1970-1974. Four years

Sinclair is also coming into the room. Would love to see Lilledahl head to Mizzou, he is a St. Charles boy like myself (suburb of St. Louis) -
Just watched video of Carr on flo after match last night. Got to say made me a fan of his. Great mind set and work ethic it seems. I will be rooting for him from now on, except when going against O’Toole of course.

No

Ouch. Hurts being a fan. Learning lesson for all involved.

Plus it’s Senior Night. Last time Conner Brown and Alan Heart will wrestle in the Hearns
-
Both Keegan and Mizzou have been hyping the match since this past weekend on instagram. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend so I just transferred my tickets to my Aunt who lives just outside of Columbia. No idea why they have this dual on an evening week night. Sucks for us that have a 2 hour drive, and many longer.

35 countries demand ban of Russia at the 2024 Olympics
Wrestej replied to BaldAt23's topic in International Wrestling
I really don’t care about the other sports Russia is going to compete in but would be nice to have the wrestlers in the Olympics. Fun to watch them wrestle.
