MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- Senior 174-pounder David Kocer won his 100th career match and the South Dakota State University wrestling team set a school record with its 13th consecutive dual victory, defeating West Virginia, 24-9, Sunday afternoon at WVU Coliseum. The 12th-ranked Jackrabbits improved to 13-2 overall and remained unbeaten in Big 12 Conference duals with a 7-0 mark. West Virginia fell to 5-6 overall and 4-4 against Big 12 opponents. A Wagner native, Kocer started a streak of four consecutive Jackrabbit victories to close out the match. Leading 11-9 on the team scoreboard, Kocer recorded the last of three major decisions on the afternoon by SDSU as he defeated the Mountaineers' Parker VonEgidy, 10-2. Martin Mueller followed with a 12-8 decision over Brenden McRill at 184 pounds, and 11th-ranked 197-pounder Nate Rotert earned a hard-fought, 7-6 decision over previously ranked Jake Smith, to seal the dual win. Rotert broke a 5-all tie with a takedown with about 30 seconds remaining. At heavyweight, Alex Macki also scored a late takedown against Brandon Ngati for a 5-3 win in the final bout of the day. Top-ranked 133-pounder Seth Gross put the Jackrabbits on the board with a 7-2 decision over Matthew Schmitt. Gross gave up an early takedown to Schmitt before scoring the final seven points of the match. Henry Pohlmeyer and Luke Zilverberg each won by major decision to give SDSU an 11-6 lead at intermission. Pohlmeyer downed Christian Monserrat, 11-3, at 141 pounds, while Zilverberg blanked Hunter Jones, 14-0, in the 157-pound matchup. West Virginia opened the dual with 15th-ranked Zeke Moisey posting an 8-3 decision over Connor Brown at 125 pounds. UP NEXT The Jackrabbits close out the dual portion of their schedule Friday (Feb. 16) by hosting North Dakota. The annual Battle for the Border Bell is slated to start at 7 p.m. at Frost Arena. DURHAM, N.C. -- The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team dominated the Duke Blue Devils, 23-10, Sunday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium as seven Panthers recorded wins. With the victory, the Panthers move to 3-10 on the year and claim their first ACC dual of the year (1-3). The Blue Devils move to 6-6 and 1-3 against conference foes. Seven Pitt wrestlers recorded wins on the day including senior Dom Forys (133), redshirt senior Nick Zanetta (141), junior Robert Lee (149), redshirt freshmen Jake Wentzel (165) and Gregg Harvey (184), redshirt sophomore Kellan Stout (197) and junior LJ Bentley (125). "It was a good win today," said head coach Keith Gavin. "Our focus and effort is much better now than it was in the beginning of the year." The dual started at 133 pounds, which featured a bounce-back win by Forys as he picked up a 16-6 major decision over Duke's Josh Finesilver. The 11th-ranked 133 pounder used seven takedowns, an escape and over four minutes of riding time to secure Pitt's first win of the dual. Zanetta extended the Panthers' team lead to 7-0 after winning in a 4-1 decision over Jeremiah Reitz at 141 pounds. After two scoreless periods, Zanetta opened the third in the bottom position and escaped to take a 1-0 lead. The Pittsburgh native quickly added a takedown, extending his lead to 3-0. Reitz escaped but it wouldn't be enough as Zanetta added a final riding point to secure the win. Lee followed Forys' lead as he also won in a major decision, with this win coming at 149 pounds. The Wisconsin native struck early in the first with a takedown and added another two points with a reversal off bottom to open the second period. Leynaud was hit with back-to-back stall warnings to give Lee a 5-0 advantage entering the final period. Lee started the third on the bottom position and escaped then quickly scored a takedown, extending his lead to 8-0. He added his ninth point with riding time to bring the team score to 11-0 in favor of the Panthers. The Blue Devils got on the board after redshirt sophomore Taleb Rahmani dropped a 3-1 decision to Duke's 11th-ranked Mitch Finesilver at 157 pounds. Wentzel extended Pitt's lead to 14-3 in the dual after winning in an 8-2 decision over Zach Finesilver at 165 pounds. The Pittsburgh native struck first in the opening frame, scoring a takedown just a few seconds in, and remained on top the rest of the period. Wentzel and Finesilver started the second period in the neutral position, which led to another takedown by Wentzel, building a 4-0 lead entering the third. Starting the final period on top, Finesilver added his first two points off a reversal, however Wentzel quickly escaped and added a takedown. Wentzel added his final point with riding time for the 8-2 decision. Duke captured its second bout of the day at 174 pounds as freshman Tommy O'Brien fell in a 12-3 major decision to Matt Finesilver, bringing the team score to 14-7. At 184 pounds, Harvey had a solid performance as he won in a 15-8 decision over Duke's Kaden Russell. Harvey fell behind early on, trailing 4-2 entering the second period but bounced back to lead 7-5 entering the third. In the final frame, Harvey used three takedowns and a two point nearfall to secure the win, giving Pitt a 17-7 lead. Stout pushed the Panthers' lead to 20-7 after winning in a 4-2 decision over Alec Schenk at 197 pounds. The Pittsburgh native held off his Blue Devil opponent by using a first period takedown, escape and riding time en route to the victory. Duke claimed its third bout of the day at heavyweight as redshirt senior Ryan Solomon dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 4 Jacob Kasper. In the final bout of the day, Bentley picked up a 4-2 win over Thayer Atkins at 125 pounds. All Bentley needed was a takedown, escape and riding time to hold off Atkins as the Panthers captured the dual, 23-10. The Panthers resume action Friday, Feb. 16 to host Virginia in their final home dual meet of the season. Action is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center. CLARION, Pa. -- The No. 23 Lock Haven University wrestling team (12-4, 4-2 EWL) capped the dual season with a dominating 28-12 victory over Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) rival Clarion University (9-5, 4-2 EWL) today on the road. With the win LHU moved to 12-4 on the season and finished EWL action at 4-2. The 12 wins are the most in a single season in 15 years. Lock Haven last posted 12 wins during the 2002-03 season. Today, the Bald Eagles won the first six bouts of the meet today, racing out a commanding 25-0 lead. In all, LHU won seven of 10 bouts and got a pair of a tech falls and a pin. Luke Werner (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), DJ Fehlman (Warren, Pa./Warren), No. 27 Kyle Shoop (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), No. 15 Ronnie Perry (Christiana, Pa./Solanco), Alex Klucker (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro), No. 5 Chance Marsteller (New Park, Pa./Kennard-Dale) and No. 13 Thomas Haines (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) all posted wins for Lock Haven. Shoop and Marsteller recorded tech falls at 141 and 165, respectively, and Klucker posted a pin at 157 as the Bald Eagles poured it on the final dual meet of the season. Perry, the only Bald Eagle senior in the lineup today, recorded the 98th win of his career as he looks to become just the 20th LHU wrestler in school history to hit the 100-win mark. Marsteller moved to 36-1 with his tech fall today. The 36 wins are tied for seventh all-time in Lock Haven's single-season win list. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Back-to-back bonus point wins from Zack Zavatsky at 184 pounds and Jared Haught at 197 proved to be key in No. 9 Virginia Tech's 22-18 win over Virginia in Charlottesville on Sunday. With the win, the Hokies (14-2, 4-0 ACC) earned the wrestling point in Commonwealth Clash, presented by Virginia529. Tech now leads the Clash, 5.5-2. Without two starters out of the lineup due to sickness, the Hokies battled to extend their ACC dual meet win streak to 19. Tech forfeited the dual's first bout at 141 pounds, putting the Hokies in a 6-0 hole early. 16th-ranked Ryan Blees then trailed Sam Krivus 5-1 at 149 at the end of two periods before rallying back in the third period to tied the score at 6-6, forcing sudden victory overtime. Early in the extra period, Blees stood up with a single leg and secured the takedown. His 8-6 decision got the Hokies on the board. After the ‘Hoos got a win at 157, David McFadden turned in a workmanlike 7-2 decision at 165 with 2:43 of riding time and Hunter Bolen pulled out a 6-5 decision thanks to a third period takedown and riding time at 174. With the score tied at 9-9 entering 184 pounds, Zavatsky nearly registered a tech fall but was still able to get four team points with a 25-12 major decision. At 197, Haught was able to get Jay Aiello in a cradle on the edge of the mat to secure the fall in 2:12, extending the Hokies' lead to 19-9. A 4-0 decision from Andrew Dunn at heavyweight was Tech's last win of night as UVA was able to get a fall at 125 and a decision in sudden victory at 133. EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Campbell completed a Southern Conference sweep Sunday in Edwardsville, Ill., defeating VMI 55-0 and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 32-9 at the Vadalabene Center. Campbell moved to 8-7 overall in dual competition this season, including a 5-1 SoCon mark with Sunday's sweep. Campbell closed the match with six straight pins to defeat VMI 55-0 in its first bout of the day. The Camels totaled a season-high seven pins in the win, notching its largest margin of victory since the 1995-96 season. CU led 19-0 after tech falls from Korbin Meink (15-0) at 125 pounds and Zach Barnes (20-4) at 149, plus a fall for Nathan Boston (0:49) at 133 and a 17-11 decision for Jonathan Ryan at 141. The Camels finished the match with six consecutive falls from Austin Kraisser (157, 2:26), Quentin Perez (165, 3:22), Andrew Morgan (174, 4:15), Luke Funck (184, 2:24), Chris Kober (197, 3:55) and Jere Heino (285, 0:44). Campbell and SIUE split the first four bouts of the match, with Jonathan Ryan's 12-4 major decision over Dakota Leach at 141 pounds being the difference. Meink, meanwhile, led off with a 3-2 sudden victory in overtime over Zach Gentzler at 125. John Muldoon and Tyshawn Williams also collected decisions for the Cougars. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- No. 19 Northwestern (10-4, 5-4 Big Ten) finished its Big Ten slate in resounding fashion, rocking Indiana (6-10, 0-9 Big Ten), 27-12, at University Gym on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats picked up their fifth Big Ten victory, their most in one season since logging six in the 2010-11 campaign. No. 10 Sebastian Rivera (125) kicked off the festivities with a win by fall in 4:11 over Elijah Oliver. Rivera improved his mark to 22-3 with the early victory. Colin Valdiviez (133) picked up his 15th victory of the season in a conservative bout against Indiana's Garrett Pepple. An early Valdiviez takedown gave him a 2-0 advantage, but he was unable to escape from bottom in the second period. Pepple chose to start the third period on top again and accumulated riding time, but was unable to score any points against Valdiviez, whose 3-1 decision win added three team points to the NU cause. No. 5 Ryan Deakin (149) delivered Northwestern's second pin of the dual, a 1:21 fall over A.J. Raya. For Deakin, it was his fastest pin of the season and his team-high seventh win by fall of the campaign. Fresh off of late-dual dramatics against No. 22 Purdue, Shayne Oster (157) dominated his matchup against Jake Danishek, a 2017 NCAA Championships qualifier, winning via 9-2 decision. Hempstead, NY -- Sophomore Sage Heller, junior Nezar Haddad and senior Michael Hughes each recorded wins by fall and the Pride added four more bonus point wins to lead Hofstra to a 45-3 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association victory over the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center Sunday afternoon. Hofstra, which snapped a two-match losing skid, improved to 9-9 on the season and evened its EIWA record at 3-3. Sacred Heart, which dropped its fourth consecutive match, falls to 2-9 on the year and 0-4 in the EIWA. The Pride went up early, 12-0 before the first decision was made on the mat as Sacred Heart forfeited matches at 125 and 133 pounds. Hofstra sophomore Vinny Vespa then tallied a 17-2 tech fall over Shaun Williams at the 4:36 mark at 141, and junior Ryan Burkert added a 14-3 major decision over Alex Harnsberger at 149 to boost the Pride lead to 21-0. Sacred Heart's Paul Klee gave the Pioneers their only win with a 9-8 decision over Chris Mauriello at 157. But red-shirt freshman Ricky Stamm held on to a 9-8 decision at 165 before Sage Heller pinned Chris Zaccaria at the 3:34 mark of the 174-pound match. VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton wrestling (11-5) spotted Bloomsburg a 6-0 cushion before rattling off six straight match wins en route to a 21-12 victory over the Huskies (5-9) in the team's home finale Sunday afternoon at West Gym. The Bearcats rode bonus point victories by their two nationally-ranked wrestlers to post the team's third straight dual win. Senior 184-pound Steve Schneider, ranked No. 9 in the nation, picked up his 11th consecutive win and needed just one period to do it. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Northern Illinois University wrestling team earned its first Mid-American Conference victory of the season, defeating Buffalo, 19-16, at Buffalo, N.Y., Sunday afternoon. "We came out aggressive, confident, and determined," said NIU head wrestling coach Ryan Ludwig. Caden McWhirter (Prattville, Ala./ Prattville) set the tone in the first match of the day. The Huskie redshirt-sophomore pinned Eric Fasnacht of Buffalo at the 1:38 minute mark of the first period at 157 to give the Huskies an early 6-0 lead. The very next match at 165, Andrew Scott (Holly Mich./ Holly) defeated Noah Grover of Buffalo via a major decision, 9-1. The Huskie redshirt junior earned his first dual win of the season and his sixth overall on the year to give NIU a 10-0 advantage. At 174, redshirt-junior Quinton Rosser (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Archbishop Moeller) kept it going for NIU, defeating Christian Dietrich of Buffalo, 3-0. The Rosser win gave the Huskies a commanding 13-0 lead. "Caden, Andrew and Q[uinton] came out and set the tone and especially with two of the three matches with bonus points," said Ludwig. At 184, Bryce Gorman (Manhattan, Ill./ Lincoln-Way Central) defeated Brett Perry, 4-1, to make the score, 16-0. Buffalo started to rally and scored 16 consecutive points to tie the score at 16. It all came down to 149, where freshman Nolan Baker (Byron, Ill. / Byron) went head-to-head with Nicholas Palumbo. Baker led after round one, 8-1, but Palumbo came roaring back in the second round. In the end, Baker defeated Palumbo, 12-9, in a thrilling ending for the Huskies. It was Baker's first collegiate victory. "Obviously, Nolan was the one in position to seal the deal. He showed great poise and fight. Couldn't be more proud of him," said Ludwig. "The coaching staff is really proud of the guys right now. We spoke about resilience and the character it takes to respond from a recent hit. They did it the right way today." Campbellsville claimed its first-ever WCWA national title OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Needing two wins in the final two matches of the WCWA National Championship to claim the first-ever team title in Lady Tiger wrestling history, who else would you rather have in your corner than Grace Bullen and Kayla Miracle? The freshman Bullen, wrestling at 130 lbs., defeated three-time WCWA finalist Nicole Depa of SFU with a pin to set up Miracle to a storybook ending. Bullen, who is a two-time age-group World medalist and six-time age-group European champion, did not allow a point all championship and out-scored her opponents 42-0. The Bullen win pulled Campbellsville within 1.5 points of SFU and that set up the most iconic finish in Lady Tiger history…. With arguably the greatest athlete in Campbellsville Athletics history. Only needing a win to the match to claim the team title, top-seeded Miracle impressed with a pin over No. 2 Desiree Zavala of Grays Harbor late in the second period. Zavala got the first takedown, but it was Miracle who emerged victorious. Miracle became only the fourth WCWA wrestler to win four titles and joins an elite list, which includes Olympic and two-time World champion Helen Maroulis, two-time World Team member Victoria Anthony and Emily Webster. "This whole round, I knew it was going to be a fight with Simon Fraser," Miracle said. "This whole season I've known that our team could win a national title. I really didn't know that it was going to be that close, going into my match. I'm just excited. I'm excited that our team did it." Mariah Harris (170) also wrestled in the finals but lost to Brittany Marshall of Wayland Baptist. Harris had a one-point advantage, 5-4, but Marshall pulled a two-point reversal with 1.7 seconds left in the second period to earn the spectacular win. Campbellsville out-lasted Simon Fraser by five team points, 196.5 - 191.5. The team win is the sixth in Campbellsville University athletics history. The Lady Tigers join the 2009 women's volleyball team (NCCAA), 2012 football team (NCCAA Victory Bowl), 2012 men's tennis team (NCCAA), 2015 men's tennis team (NCCAA) and 2017 football team (NCCAA Victory Bowl) for team national champions. The individual titles for Miracle and Bullen are the 25th and 26th national championships for student-athletes in CU history. In the five years CU has had a women's wrestling program, the Lady Tigers have totaled eight national champions - the most for any CU team. Rounding out the Top 5 team scores - McKendree finished in third place, while Emanuel College was fourth and Menlo was fifth. In addition to Bullen, Miracle and Harris, the Lady Tigers also had a slew of wrestlers finish in the consolation brackets and earn All-American honors. Charlotte Fowler finished third at 109 lbs., Alexia Foca and McKayla Campbell both placed fourth at 143 and 101 lbs., respectively, senior Shelby Hall finished in fifth at 130 lbs., Kaitlyn Hill placed seventh at 191 and Morgan Becker finished eighth and 155. Fowler pulled victories over Kateri Rowell of Grays Harbor and Jessica Dehart of Eastern Oregon. Foca and Campbell, both wrestling in their first national championship, had stellar tournaments. In the consolation bracket, Campbell stormed back from a 6-0 deficit to get a defensive fall over four-seed Genae Sampract of Mckendree. She later lost to Asia Ray in the third-place match, 10-5. Foca picked up her first consolation bracket victory over Sienna Ramirez of Southern Oregon, 5-1, but fell 6-0 to Kayla Marano of Emmanuel. Hall and Hill both finished their careers on high notes. Hall, a three-time All-American dominated Erin Redford 7-0 in the fifth place match. Hill defeated Victoria Espinozo to finish seventh. Lastly, Morgan Becker's tournament ended with a 8-2 loss to Kendra Kehril.

Yoel Romero, 2000 Olympic silver medalist wrestler for Cuba, knocked out interim middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia Saturday ... but did not win the title because he failed to make weight. Yoel RomeroRomero knocked out Rockhold at 1:48 of the third round. However, it proved to be a costly night for the 40-year-old Cuban. Because Romero missed weight by almost three pounds, he would no longer be competing for the title. In fact, the fight nearly didn't happen at all. However, after negotiations, Romero agreed to forfeit 30 percent of his purse to Rockhold. In other words, if Romero had weighed in at the 185-pound weight limit for middleweights with the same bout outcome, he would not only have the UFC middleweight belt ... but also would have received his full purse. That scenario isn't out of the realm of possibility. Sporting News had scored the fight as being even headed into Round 3. "I'm so sorry for the weight cut being so bad for me," Romero told Jon Anik in his post-fight interview. "That was the first time in my career I couldn't get down." "For the first two rounds, it was a tactical battle as Rockhold controlled the first round using primarily his leg kicks and connecting on the better strikes to keep Romero at bay," Sporting News reported. "Romero came around in the second round using quick flurries to keep Rockhold guessing. Romero finished it off in the third round when blasting Rockhold with a left hand." Romero finished off the champ with a left uppercut. End of fight. Adding to the oddity of the match ... Romero was unable to stand up inside the Octagon for the post-bout interview, leading to fears that Rockhold had broken his opponent's leg earlier in the match. Later it was revealed the injury was not that severe. With the win, Romero -- a two-time Olympic freestyle competitor who owns the distinction of defeating some of the world's best wrestlers of the era, including current Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson, and Les Gutches -- is now 13-2, while Rockhold falls to 16-4.

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force notched two major decisions and a fall to fly by Utah Valley, 26-10, in Big 12 Conference action on Senior Night in Clune Arena. The Falcons recorded their first win against a top-25 team since head coach Sam Barber took the helm in 2014. Utah Valley chose to draw for the starting weight in which the Falcons opened the night with sophomore 165-pounder Tyler Wiederholt. Wiederholt relentlessly pursued Max Sultan, only allowing two escapes while totaling 11 points for himself for the major decision win. Utah Valley bounced back with a 10-1 major decision of their own by way of 17th-ranked Kimball Bastian at 174. Team captain Zen Ikehara rebutted with a hard fought 3-2 decision win in the 184 class to give the Falcons a 7-4 lead. Going blow-for-blow, Utah Valley's Tanner Orndorff posted an 8-4 decision over Anthony McLaughlin to knot the team score at seven. No. 26 Dustin Dennison of Utah Valley gave the Wolverines their first and only lead of the night with a 3-1 decision over sophomore heavyweight Matt Wagner. From that point on it was all Air Force as the Falcons posted five-straight victories from the 125 class to the 157 class. Freshman Tony DeCesare, who checked in at No. 32 in the second coaches' poll of the season, posted a 5-1 decision over Josh Jensen. Junior 133-pounder Isaac Jimenez continued the roll with a convincing 12-2 major decision over Durbin Lloren, denying the Wolverine any takedowns. The highlight of the night came by way of sophomore 141-pounder Alec Opsal as he took the mats against Matt Findlay. Findlay came out fierce, scoring takedowns at will and building an early lead over Opsal. Testament to his resilience and grit, Opsal battled back into the match with a reversal that led to near fall points as he turned the Wolverine to his back. Refusing to settle for points alone, Opsal dug deep and rolled Findlay to his back yet again, this time for the pin at the 4:47 mark. The fall propelled the Falcons to their largest lead of the night, 20-10. Opsal remains undefeated in dual action (7-0) with a 4-0 mark in Big 12 duals. Senior 149-pounder Dane Robbins capped his senior night on a high note as he recorded a convincing 7-1 decision over Matthew Ontiveros, denying yet another Wolverine any takedowns on the match and securing the dual for the Falcons. Junior 157-pounder Alex Mossing, who checked in at No. 33 in the second coaches' poll, put the final touches on the meet with an impressive 8-2 decision over Raider Lofthouse, denying a fourth Wolverine any takedowns. NORMAN -- In a back-and-forth dual, Oklahoma wrestling used a flawless performance from its veterans to take down Edinboro, 19-16, on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center. OU's senior quartet of Dawaylon Barnes, Andrew Dixon, Mike Longo and Yoanse Mejias all won their respective matches against the Fighting Scots. Longo got things going for Oklahoma in a big way in his final match in Norman, shutting out Edinboro's Nate Hagan at 141 pounds by major decision, 8-0, to get the Sooners on the board following an early deficit. "I was pretty relaxed tonight," Longo said. "I had my parents here, this is the first home dual they've been to this season. They made a 20-hour drive out here just to watch me, so it's pretty special to have that and also just everyone who has supported me throughout these past two years at OU and my whole career." Junior Davion Jeffries earned his second consecutive win by major decision for OU, with a 12-0 shutout of Jensen Lorea at 149 pounds to put the Sooners on top, 8-7. The win was Jeffries' fifth in six duals, extending his overall record to 21-12 on the season. Oklahoma's seniors kept rolling when Barnes secured a victory by major decision, 15-6, over Edinboro's Fritz Hoehn at 165 pounds. Yoanse Mejias, ranked No. 10 in the nation at 174 pounds, made it two in a row for the Sooners with a 3-2 win against Ty Schoffstall. "This was my last home dual I'll ever have, whether it be high school or college, so it means a lot to me," Barnes said. "All year of working, I've learned that you can always do more, but the major (decision) is good. I'm really glad we got the win. To have my entire class go out with wins in the last home match they'll ever have is a great feeling." Edmond, Okla., native Andrew Dixon extended the Sooners lead to 19-13 with a 9-0 win by major decision at 197 to all-but-clinch the Oklahoma win. The victory pushed OU to 8-9 overall with a final home record of 4-1 on the 2017-18 season. The Sooners are due for a quick turnaround, as they will travel to Stillwater on Sunday for a 2 p.m. showdown with No. 4 Oklahoma State. Sunday's contest will be the last Big 12 matchup of the season for OU. The Sooners conclude the regular season at Lehigh next Saturday before prepping for the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa, which run March 3-4. LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The University of Wyoming wrestling team dominated Northern Colorado, 38-4, in Big 12 action on Saturday night inside the Auditorium-Arena. Head coach Mark Branch's squad won nine of the ten bouts against the Bears to pick up its fifth-consecutive dual victory. All six of the Cowboy seniors took to the mat for their final home appearance wearing the Brown and Gold and it also proved to be the 25th consecutive win over Northern Colorado, as Wyoming last lost to UNC during the 1992-93 season. With the win, Wyoming (12-3, 6-2 Big 12) now has six Big 12 victories on the season. The Pokes had won eight total the previous two years as a member of the conference. It also becomes just the seventh time in the 93 years of Cowboy wrestling that UW has won at least 12 duals in a season. Additionally, Branch now has 99 career dual wins at the helm of the UW wrestling program. "It was great to be able to get the entire senior class to compete on Senior Night," Branch said. "I thought things went really well tonight. Lately, we have had an opportunity to wrestle a little more aggressively. We've been getting consistent with the bonus-points and that has allowed us to dominate with the team score, which is good to see this time of the year. I think our guys are feeding off each other right now and it shows as we've had a few great performances as of late in our upper weights. That has definitely helped us a lot. I thought this was a great weekend for us, I'm proud of how we were able to get the job done." After an injury default at 197 pounds, Luke Paine got things rolling and claimed the victory for the Pokes. At 285 pounds, Sam Eagan kept up with the winning ways as he earned a 6-3 decision over Robert Winters. Eagan scored two takedowns and added two escapes during the bout. Drake Foster fell behind in the 125 pound match but scrapped his way to a pin over Sean Cannon. Foster gave up an early takedown in the first period but regrouped to claim the lead. He would add four more takedowns before pinning Cannon with 23 seconds left. With the win, UW held a 15-0 lead after three matches. Bryce Meredith made quick work over Ben Polkowske at 141 pounds. The two-time All-American earned a first-period pin to move UW's lead to 21-4 just heading in to intermission. It was the second-straight pin for Meredith and his 11th of the season. After intermission, Sam Turner had no issue with Owen Lamb at 149 pounds. Turner scored first with a takedown before adding a four-point nearfall in the first period. He then added another takedown in the second and two more in the final frame. Turner cruised to a 19-1 tech fall for the win. Archie Colgan followed suit with a 6-3 decision over Tyler Kinn at 157 pounds. With riding time, Colgan would score two takedowns and an escape point on way to the victory. Branson Ashworth then claimed an 8-1 decision over No. 17 Keilan Torres. Like usual, Ashworth earned a takedown in the opening frame and never looked back. He would add another to help further his lead for what was his third win against a ranked opponent this season. Kyle Pope took charge at 174 pounds for the Brown and Gold on Saturday night. Behind two takedowns, Pope earned an 8-2 decision over Seth Bogulski. Chaz Polson then closed out the dual for Wyoming with an upset victory over 20th-ranked Dylan Gabel at 184 pounds. Polson fell behind but closed out the second period with a 2-1 lead. In the final frame, the senior swiftly scored a reversal to move his lead to 4-1. He tacked on a riding time point for the 5-1 decision victory. The big time win was his first against a ranked opponent this season. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lions (13-0, 9-0 B1G), wrestling without top-ranked Jason Nolf at 157, rolled over visiting Iowa (11-3, 6-3 B1G) in front of nearly 16,000 fans in the sold out Bryce Jordan Center. Head coach Cael Sanderson's squad closed out its Big Ten dual slate with a strong 28-13 win over the Hawkeyes, ending the year as the conference's lone unbeaten squad and winning the 2018 Big Ten Regular Season (Dual Meet) title outright. Penn State used two quick pins in the second half to run away from No. 7 Iowa, getting fast falls from Mark Hall (Apple Valley, Minn.) at 174 and Bo Nickal (Allen, Texas) at 184. The duo posted two of Penn State's seven wins in the dual meet. The dual began at 125 where senior Carson Kuhn (Sandy, Utah) took on his second straight highly ranked opponent. Kuhn took on No. 3 Spencer Lee of Iowa in the dual's opening match-up, and the ranked Hawkeye got a fall at the 2:06 mark. Senior Corey Keener (Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) put the Nittany Lions on the scoreboard with a solid 5-2 win over Paul Glynn, cutting the Hawkeye lead to 6-3. True freshman Nick Lee (Evansville, Ind.), ranked No. 8 at 141, posted a strong 11-8 win over Hawkeye Vince Turk, tying the dual at 6-6. Senior Zain Retherford (Benton, Pa.), ranked No. 1 at 149, dominated No. 2 Brandon Sorensen in one of the bout's most anticipated match-ups. Retherford rolled to a 6-2 win including 3:07 in riding time thanks in large part to a full second period rideout. Keener worked his way in on a solid single that Glynn was able to fight off, forcing an early stalemate at the 2:10 mark. Keener exploded through a high single at the 1:35 mark and took a 2-1 lead after a quick Glynn escape. Keener continued to press on offense, working the middle of the mat and blowing through a high double at the :25 mark to up his lead to 4-1. Keener then broke the Hawkeye down and, with a rideout, carried that lead into the second period. Glynn chose down to start the second period and escaped to a 4-2 score but Keener had 1:01 in riding time. Keener continued to work his offense and, with :50 on the clock, worked his way into a single leg but Glynn was once again able to defend his way to a stalemate. Leading 4-2, Keener chose down to start the third period. The Lion worked his way into a scramble off a reset at the 1:10 mark and nearly notched a reversal before a stalemate stopped his progress. Keener escaped to a 5-2 lead at the :45 mark and then shot repeatedly. Glynn's defense was tough and Keener notched a solid 5-2 win. 141: True freshman Nick Lee (Evansville, Ind.), ranked No. 8 at 141, took on Vince Turk. Turk came out quickly, getting in on a low single and taking Lee down for an early 2-1 lead. Lee then opened up his offense, nearly scoring right after his escape and then taking a 3-2 lead with a quick low single off a reset. Turk escaped to a 3-3 score and Lee continued to work his offense, turning a fast low shot into a takedown and a 5-3 lead with 1:32 on the clock. Lee cut Turk loose to a 5-4 score and continued to press on offense. Turk was able to defend each Lee shot and trailed by one after one. Trailing 5-4, Turk chose down to start the second period and Lee dominated the action from the top, forcing a stall warning at the 1:30 mark and building up 1:44 in riding time before cutting the Hawkeye loose to a 5-5 tie. Lee notched another takedown as the period ended and led 7-5 with over 2:00 in riding time after two. Lee chose down to start the third period and picked up another point on a second Turk stall. The Lion slipped on a slight throw attempt, giving up the takedown, and posted an 11-8 win. 149: Senior Zain Retherford (Benton, Pa.), ranked No. 1 at 149, met No. 2 Brandon Sorensen. The duo battled evenly for the first half of the opening period. Retherford connected on a single leg at the 1:13 mark and took an early 2-0 lead. The Lion then went to work on top, breaking the Hawkeye down and looking for a chance to turn him for back points. Sorensen was able to keep from giving up any near fall points and escaped to a 2-1 score as the period ended. Trailing 2-1, Sorensen chose down to start the second period and Retherford went to work on top. Retherford built up 2:05 in riding time, working the clock down to under 1:00. Retherford maintained control for the remainder of the period and carried the 2-1 lead with a clinched riding time point (3:06) into the third period. Retherford chose down to start the third period and quickly escaped to a 3-1 lead. The Lion senior muscled his way through a low single, took Sorensen down and cut him loose to a 5-2 score with a clinched riding time point. Retherford was unable to break through Sorensen's defense to roll up a major and walked away with a strong 6-2 win with 3:07 in riding time. 157: With No. 1 Jason Nolf (Yatesboro, Pa.) still sidelined at 157, Nittany Lion Bo Pipher (Paonia, Colo.) took on No. 2 Michael Kemerer. Pipher took a quick early shot but Kemerer countered his way to a takedown and a 2-0 lead at the 2:40 mark. Pipher worked his way to his feet and escaped to a 2-1 score but Kemerer quickly notched a second takedown to lead 4-1 with 1:45 on the clock. Pipher escaped to a 4-2 score but Kemerer notched a third takedown with :35 on the clock and rode Pipher out for the rest of the period. Leading 6-2, Kemerer chose down to start the second period and escaped to a 7-2 score at the 1:41 mark. Kemerer connected on a low shot to up his lead to 9-2 at the 1:00 mark. Pipher escaped to a 9-3 score with :43 on the clock but Kemerer notched on more takedown to lead 11-3 with 2:04 in riding time after two periods. The Hawkeye finished on top and, with 3:22 in riding time, posted a 14-4 major decision. 165: Sophomore Vincenzo Joseph (Pittsburgh, Pa.0, ranked No. 1 at 165, met No. 7 Alex Marinelli. Joseph countered a quick Marinelli shot and nearly locked the Hawkeye up for a throw right off the opening whistle. But Marinelli was able to stay on his feet and action resumed neutral at the 2:20 mark. The Lion sophomore worked the middle of the mat for the next minute plus and then blew through a fast double leg for the opening takedown and a 2-0 lead at the :47 mark. Marinelli escaped to a 2-1 score with :20 left and that score held into the second period. Leading by one, Joseph chose down to start the second period. The Lion steadily worked his way to an escape and a 3-1 lead at the 1:25 mark. He fought off two solid shots and then worked a fast double into a takedown and a 5-1 lead, nearly picking up back points in the process. He tried to lock up a cradle but Marinelli fought through the move and escaped, forcing a reset at the :20 mark. Trailing 5-2, Marinelli chose down to start the third period and escaped to a 5-3 score. Joseph tried to throw the Hawkeye but got tripped to his back, giving up the takedown and four back points to trail 9-5 at the 1:10 mark. Joseph escaped to a 9-6 score with :40 left and began chasing the Hawkeye, looking to tie the bout. Marinelli was able to fight off the Lions' charge and posted the 9-6 upset win. 174: Sophomore Mark Hall (Apple Valley, Minn.), ranked No. 2 at 174, battled Joey Gunther. Hall caught Gunther's shoulders at the 2:20 mark and worked the Hawkeye to his back for a takedown. He then locked up a cradle and picked up the fall at the 1:00 mark. 184: Junior Bo Nickal (Allen, Texas), ranked No. 1 at 184, took on Iowa's Mitch Bowman. Nickal wasted no time taking Bowman down. The Lion used a fast low single to take the Hawkeye down and then deftly locked up a cradle to post the pin at the :50 mark, Penn State's second straight fast fall. 197: Junior Shakur Rasheed (Coram, N.Y.) got the nod at 197 and battled No. 7 Cash Wilcke. Rasheed wasted no time in opening up a lead, taking the Hawkeye down off the opening whistle for an early 2-0 lead. The Lion worked the top position, nearly locking up a cradle but action moved out of bounds and a reset was called with 1:56 on the clock. Wilcke escaped off the reset and Rasheed led 2-1 with :58 in riding time at the 1:45 mark. Rasheed's offense was unstoppable early, connecting on a low single for another takedown and a 4-1 lead with 1:20 on the clock. Rasheed broke Wilcke down to build up well over 1:30 in riding time, forcing a stall warning in the process. Rasheed finished the period on top and led 4-1 with 2:31 in riding time after the opening period. Rasheed chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 5-1 lead. The Lion continued to press Wilcke, looking for a chance to score again. Wilcke countered and forced a scramble that ended in a potentially dangerous call. Iowa challenged for a takedown on the scramble but the call stood and action resumed with Rasheed leading 5-1 at the :42 mark. Wilcke shot low and Rasheed scrambled his way to a stalemate as the period ended. Wilcke chose neutral to start the third period and Rasheed made him pay, working his way through a fast double leg to open up a 7-1 lead with another takedown. The Lion clinched the riding time point and continued to work for a chance to turn the Hawkeye. Rasheed picked up a point on another Wilcke stall and led 8-1. Wilcke escaped with :20 left and with just :08 left, Rasheed roared through a final double leg to clinch a major decision. With 3:52 in riding time, Rasheed rolled to the 11-2 major decision. 285: Junior Nick Nevills (Clovis, Calif.), ranked No. 6 at 285, met No. 3 Sam Stoll. The duo battled evenly for the first two minutes of the opening period, with both men looking for control in the middle of the mat. Nevills took a slight low single at the :45 mark but Stoll stepped away from the shot and action moved to the second stanza tied 0-0. Stoll chose down to start the second period and quickly escaped to a 1-0 lead. The duo worked the middle of the mat for the remainder of the period and Nevills trailed by one after one. The Lion senior chose down to start the third period and quickly escaped to a 1-1 tie. He then continued to work his offense on the edge of the mat and scrambled his way to a takedown and a 3-1 lead at the 1:40 mark. The Lion senior maintained control until a Stoll escape at the :50 mark, with Nevills lead 3-2 with :45 in time. Nevills stepped away from a final Stoll shot and posted the strong 3-2 win.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- UNI wrestling won eight matches to take down Iowa State 31-7 in the teams' first official Big 12 matchup against each other. It also marks the first time UNI has beaten Iowa State in consecsutive wins since the 2003 and 2004. UNI improves to 6-4 overall, 3-2 in the Big 12. ISU falls to 8-9 overall, 3-6 in the Big 12. "We kept attacking for the most part, which is what I want to see," said head coach Doug Schwab. "A packed West Gym is fun. I want it like this every time. We just need to compete in a way that people don't want to miss it. It was a great atmosphere." Jay Schwarm led off the dual at 125 pounds with his 13th fall of the season to put UNI up 6-0. He grabbed a takedown right away and stuck ISU's Sinjin Briggs in 51 seconds, making it his 10th first-period fall of the season. The Panthers gave up a major decision at 133 pounds, but got a forfeit at 141 pounds. No. 8 Max Thomsen kept the momentum rolling at 149 pounds. His three takedowns propelled him to a 7-5 decision over No. 20 Jarrett Degen. It was Thomsen's third top-20 win of the year. He also had an exhibition win against No. 5 Matthew Kolodzik of Princeton to kick off the season. A last-second takedown by UNI's Logan Ryan at 157 pounds prevented sudden victory. Ryan beat Chase Straw by 3-1 decision to give the Panthers an 18-4 lead at intermission. ISU came out of the break to take 165 pounds, but it was UNI for the rest of the dual. "I still think there are situations we can attack even more and score more points," said Schwab. "Lujan – I like how he competed today - a little gritty and edge to him." No.7 Taylor Lujan grabbed seven takedowns to earn a 17-6 major decision over ISU's Danny Bush at 174 pounds. No. 10 Drew Foster beat Pestano with a 6-4 decision. Carter Isley grabbed one takedown against returning NCAA qualifier Marcus Harrington and went on to win, 4-3. I like where our team is at," said Schwab. "We're healthy. DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson wrestling finished the weekly sweep, downing Belmont Abbey on senior night at John M. Belk Arena Saturday, 25-16. With the win Davidson improves to 3-9 overall, while with the loss Belmont Abbey falls to 4-8 on the season. On a night celebrating the five seniors, captain Dustin Runzo picked up the 'Cats first win of the evening at 133 pounds, using a pair of first period takedowns and a third frame reversal to earn a difficult 13-9 decision. Junior Tony Palumbo outlasted his opponent at 157 pounds, 9-5, while sophomore Connor Fenn dominated start to finish in a 17-2 technical fall. The Wildcats ended the match with a pair of seniors in Konner Pritchard and Will Cooley. Pritchard ended his bout at 197 strong, using a two and four seconds near fall counts to gap Brian Girard and earn a technical fall victory, 16-1. Cooley needed overtime to win at heavyweight, but the Branchburg, N.J., native forced a stalling call to win his final match at home and seal a 25-16 victory over the Crusaders. STANFORD, Calif. -- Mason Pengilly and Isaiah Locsin scored late takedowns to clinch Stanford's 21-15 win over Oregon State, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion. For just the second time in program history, the Cardinal (7-4, 3-1 Pac-12) defeated the Beavers (5-6, 1-2 Pac-12) in a dual. Stanford held a 15-12 advantage after seven bouts. Pengilly, who was wrestling in just his second match this season, pulled out a 7-6 decision over Devan Turner at 133 pounds. Tied 4-4 after two periods, Turner chose down to start the final frame. He quickly earned a reversal and Pengilly got the escape, trailing 6-5. As the clock wound down, Pengilly came out of a scramble with two and the win. He is now 2-0 on the season. Locsin sealed the win for the Cardinal at 141 pounds, defeating Jack Hathaway 2-1. There was no score in the first period and Hathaway tallied the escape in the second. Locsin chose neutral to start the third and put two on the board with less than 20 seconds remaining in the bout. He improves to 18-8 overall and 4-3 in duals this season. Redshirt junior Paul Fox put the Cardinal on the board first with a 5-2 decision over Hunter Willits at 157 pounds. Fox scored a takedown in the first and second periods and tallied an escape in the third in the win. Fox now stands at 18-5 overall and 7-1 in duals this season. At 165 pounds, redshirt freshman Brandon Dallavia scored five points for Stanford with a 16-0 technical fall in 4:35 over Rodney Williams. He secured a takedown, a reversal and 12 near fall points in his second dual win of the season. Dallavia moves to 10-13 overall. Fifth-year senior Keaton Subjeck, who is ranked ninth nationally, made it 12-0 Stanford with a 13-5 major decision over Myles Terry at 174 pounds. Up 6-3 in the third, Subjeck tallied three more takedowns and finished with 2:08 in riding time for the bonus points. He leads the team this season with 23 wins and is 10-1 in duals. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Cornell wrestling team swept a pair of dual meets on Saturday afternoon to capture a record 16th consecutive Ivy League title, topping Penn 32-9 and Princeton 34-6 on the road, its 82nd and 83rd straight conference win. The Big Red improved to 12-2 overall and capped yet another undefeated conference season in the process. #10 Cornell 32, Penn 9 The Cornell wrestling team won six of the seven contested bouts in a dominant 32-9 win at Penn on Saturday afternoon at the Palestra. Aided by forfeits at 125 and 141, Cornell built a 22-0 lead in the team score and was never threatened in picking up its 82nd straight Ivy win. The 16 consecutive league titles builds on its own record - no school in any sport has won more Ivy League titles in consecutive years. The win was the 16th straight over the Quakers, who handed Cornell its last loss back in 2002. In the marquee matchup at 197 pounds, Ben Darmstadt earned a pair of first period takedowns over Penn's ninth-ranked Frank Mattiace and ended the period on top. The third-ranked Darmstadt, who was 0-2 during his career against the Quaker, then rode Mattiace for the entire second period to go into the final break up 5-1 after a stalling point and with riding time locked up. The freshman chose top to begin the third looking for a tilt, but could only add an additional stalling point to close out the match 8-1 with 5:45 of riding time. Chaz Tucker started the search for bonus points with a late takedown and ride-out in the third for a 12-4 major decision victory over Tristin DeVincenzo. Will Koll and Fredy Stroker both fell just short of bonus points but won comfortable decisions in the middle weights, as did Max Dean at 184. Milik Dawkins came out at 174 and dominated Quinton Hiles for a 17-5 major decision leading into Darmstadt's important victory. The Big Red gave back one of its two forfeits by not putting out a heavyweight on the mat for the final score. #10 Cornell 34, Princeton 6 It was 15-0 after three matches and the Tigers never recovered as Cornell had an answer for everything Princeton through its way. Noah Baughman and Yianni Diakomihalis had second period pinfalls sandwiched around a workmanlike 5-2 win for Chaz Tucker at 133 to get things rolling, then won all five matches after intermission after the Tigers crawled back within 15-6 with a pair of hard fought decisions that went in their direction. Jon Jay Chavez dominated in a 12-1 major decision over Leonard Merkin, who was wrestling up a weight for the Tigers. Brandon Womack squeaked out a 5-4 decision over Jonathan Schleifer at 174 in a match that could have EIWA seeding implications. Max Dean put the Ivy title chase to bed with a 16-0 tech fall win over Kevin Parker, and Ben Darmstadt used a heavy ride and a pair of reversals to knock off No. 17 Patrick Brucki at 197, his third win over a top 20 wrestler in 24 hours. FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Sophomore Zach Krause posted his fourth fall of the year, the Bears tallied five major decisions, and Brown University wrestling blanked Sacred Heart University, 44-0, on Saturday evening at the Pitt Center. The Bears (6-5 5-3 EIWA) won all 10 of the dual's matches, including the eight that were contested, taking eight bonus point wins over the host Pioneers (2-8, 0-3 EIWA). Krause (Plainfield, Ill.) led the Bears with his second-period pin while senior Zeke Salvo (Baltimore, Md.), juniors Jon Viruet (Springfield, Mass.), CJ LaFragola (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.), and Tucker Ziegler (Myersville, Md.), and freshman Bryce Rogers (Orlando, Fla.) all registered major decision wins. Senior Justin Staudenmayer (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and junior Ian Butterbrodt (North Andover, Mass.) both won via decision, and sophomore Trey Keeley (Washington Ill.) and freshman Hunter Kosco (Canal Fulton, Ohio) both took forfeit victories. PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team salvaged a second split of an Ivy League dual weekend, downing Columbia in the second match of the day following a loss to No. 12 Cornell in the opener. The Quakers never trailed in their 21-18 win over Columbia, leading by as much as 10-0 before wins from Joe Heyob and No. 9 Frank Mattiace broke a 14-14 tie late and secured the win. That victory followed a 32-9 loss to the Big Red. No. 17 May Bethea was the only Quaker to win both of his matches on the day, improving to 20-6 this season. He scored a 7-3 decision over Cornell's Adam Santoro to open his day, breaking a 0-0 tie after one period with two takedowns in the second. Against Columbia's Laurence Kosoy, he scored six takedowns – including three in the third period – for an important major decision. With injuries hitting the Red and Blue at an inopportune time, the Quakers had a makeshift lineup in place against Cornell and the Big Red capitalized to the tune of a 22-0 lead midway through the dual. At 197 pounds, No. 3 Ben Darmstadt of Cornell was able to even the season series against Penn's No. 9 Frank Mattiace after an 8-1 decision. Darmstadt scored quickly to take a 2-0 lead and added a takedown following a scramble late in the first period for a 4-1 lead. Mattiace struggled to get out from bottom in the second and third periods, leading to stalling points against and riding time. Mattiace still holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series between the two wrestlers – both of Mattiace's wins by major decision. After Senior Day Ceremonies to honor May Bethea, Freddie Dunau, Joe Heyob, Quinton Hiles, Marc Mastropietro, Frank Mattiace and Joe Velliquette, the Quakers quickly pounced on the Lions with wins from a pair of freshman. Daniel Planta made his return to the lineup and pinned Spencer Good in 1:08 to open the dual. Classmate Gianni Ghione followed with a 13-3 major decision at 133. He connected on two takedowns in the first period, but opened up the bout with a takedown and four nearfall in the second. Columbia won the next three matches to tie the dual at 10-10 at halftime. JP Ascolese knocked off freshman Thomas DiGiovanni, 12-6, at 141. That was followed by a 14-1 major decision for Jacob Macalolooy over Joe Oliva at 149. A takedown and four backpoints in the first period staked Macalolooy to a big lead and he never looked back. Markus Scheidel brought the dual meet level at 10-10 with an 11-6 decision over Joe Velliquette. The bout was close late, Scheidel rallied to tie the match, 6-6, at the end of two periods after Velliquette had led, 6-3 midway through the second. In the third, Scheidel rode out and added four late backpoints for the final margin. The teams traded major decisions at 165 and 174. Bethea gave Penn a 14-10 lead with his 14-5 win at 165 before Tyrel White knocked off Brian Krasowski, 13-4. The Quakers took the next two bouts to seal the dual. Joe Heyob edged Andrew Psomas, 5-4, at 184. Heyob had a takedown in the first, and led, 3-2, after two. In the third period, the two wrestlers traded reversals – Psomas first, then Heyob – before Psomas escaped to get within one. Heyob defended in the final 10 seconds to secure the win. Mattiace knew he needed to score bonus points to finish off the team win, and he connected on five takedowns to defeated Michel Bulkin, 13-4. Bulkin kept the bout close, trailing just 2-1 after one period. Mattiace scored twice in each of the final two periods, including a takedown in the final seconds to finish off the major and put Penn ahead by seven points. That lead was too far for Columbia to overcome with just one bout left, and No. 15 Garrett Ryan picked up a major decision, 18-5, over Tyler Hall. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Cornell wrestling team won six of the seven contested bouts and claimed a share of the program's 16th straight Ivy League title with a dominant 32-9 win at Penn on Saturday afternoon at the Palestra. The Big Red improved to 11-2 (4-0 Ivy) on the season, while the Quakers fell to 8-6 (1-2 Ivy). Cornell can claim the championship outright tonight with a victory at Princeton in a dual that kicks off at 6 p.m. Aided by forfeits at 125 and 141, Cornell built a 22-0 lead in the team score and was never threatened in picking up its 82nd straight Ivy win. The 16 consecutive league titles builds on its own record - no school in any sport has won more Ivy League titles in consecutive years. The win was the 16th straight over the Quakers, who handed Cornell its last loss back in 2002. In the marquee matchup at 197 pounds, Ben Darmstadt earned a pair of first period takedowns over Penn's ninth-ranked Frank Mattiace and ended the period on top. The third-ranked Darmstadt, who was 0-2 during his career against the Quaker, then rode Mattiace for the entire second period to go into the final break up 5-1 after a stalling point and with riding time locked up. The freshman chose top to begin the third looking for a tilt, but could only add an additional stalling point to close out the match 8-1 with 5:45 of riding time. Chaz Tucker started the search for bonus points with a late takedown and ride-out in the third for a 12-4 major decision victory over Tristin DeVincenzo. Will Koll and Fredy Stroker both fell just short of bonus points but won comfortable decisions in the middle weights, as did Max Dean at 184. Milik Dawkins came out at 174 and dominated Quinton Hiles for a 17-5 major decision leading into Darmstadt's important victory. The Big Red gave back one of its two forfeits by not putting out a heavyweight on the mat for the final score. RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- CSU Bakersfield wrestling team overcame the Lancers in its last away dual match of the season. The Roadrunners defeated Cal Baptist 34-7 in front of a large crowd for the Lancers senior night. Redshirt senior Matt Williams moves up in the record books to hold the 6th spot on CSUB's Career Records for the most pins with 31. The Dual started at the 133 bout with No. 28 Sean Nickell Adam Velasquez (CSU). Velasquez gets a takedown with a minute left while Nickell adds an escape a late takedown to end the first period 3-2. Nickell starts the second period with a quick take down and ended the period at 5-2. The No. 28 redshirt junior ends the match with a 11-3 major decision and gets CSUB on the board with first four points of the night. At 141, Russell Rohlfing gets a takedown in the first to lead 2-0 against Andrew Schulte (CB). Rohlfing gets an early reversal, a three take downs, three escapes and a four point nearfall to end the second period with a dominant lead 14-3. Into the third period and Rohlfing continues to surge and finishes the match with a tech fall 23-5. At 149, Daxton Gordon (CBU) takes the lead over Kalani Tonge (CSUB) in the first period with two takedowns. Tonge tries to come back but only gets two escapes in the match. Cal Baptist's Gordon wins by a 14-2 major decision and puts CBU on the board with four points. Knowing that CSUB was only up by five points, redshirt senior No. 16 Coleman Hammond gets a late escape in the first period while Slater Johnson (CBU) had an early takedown to end the first period 1-2. Into the second and Hammond adds another escape, then gets a point for an illegal move by Johnson and goes 3-2 in the second. With 30 seconds left the redshirt senior adds a takedown to end the match 5-3. Bakersfield led 12-4 at the start of the 165 bout with Jacob Thalin, who gets 2-0 lead over Peter Cunningham (CBU) in the first period. Cunningham tries to stay alive but only added two escapes in the match and Thalin gives CSUB another four points in a 13-2 major decision win. Filling in for Bryan Battisto for the night was Lorenzo De La Riva who normally wrestles in the 165 weight class. De La Riva matched up with No. 2 Nolan Kistler (CBU) and survived the full seven minutes of the match and earned two escapes in the match but unfortunately came up short and Kistler takes a 6-2 decision to give Cal Baptist three more points. In the 184 bout, redshirt freshman Dominic Ducharme matched up against No. 3 Nick Fiegnar (CBU), who starts out quickly getting a 8-0 lead over Ducharme. The redshirt freshman added a late takedown in the first period to cut Fiegnar lead 3-8. Into the second period and Ducharme would continue fighting to add an escape and a takedown to go 6-8 at the start of the third. With a minute and 20 seconds left the match is tied at 10-10, the redshirt freshman gets another takedown and a stalling time to win in a 13-11 decision over No. 3 Fiegnar. CSUB led the dual 19-7 starting with redshirt senior No. 14 Matt Williams against Garrett Strang (CBU). Williams starts out taking a 4-1 lead in the first period and then continued to surge in the second period at 14-1 before getting a last 30 second pin in the period. The redshirt senior remains undefeated in the season with a pin over Strang at 4:27. William adds another pin to his career record to put him in the 6th sport in CSUB's history. First two periods go scoreless in the 285 weight class with Mark Penyacsek and Zach Schrader (CBU). Penyacsek gets an early escape in the third period and ends the period with 1:56 of riding time to win in a 2-0 decision over Schrader. Bakersfield started with a 28-7 lead over Cal Baptist at the start of the final match of the night but chose to forfeit the 125 bout against No. 27 Sergio Mendez. MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan wrestling team recorded one pin and one technical fall on Friday in topping Eastern Michigan, 29-7, in a Mid-American Conference dual on the Chippewas' Senior Night at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas, who have won three consecutive duals and seven of their last eight, improved to 8-4, 5-1 MAC. Eastern Michigan is 7-7, 3-4. Redshirt freshman Matt Stencel capped the evening with a first-period pin in the 285-pound match. His win came over senior Gage Hutchison, who is ranked second in the weight class in the MAC. Stencel is ranked fourth. CMU's technical fall came at 174, where senior CJ Brucki posted a 17-2 win. “It adds to the excitement, it adds to the moment for us going out like that,” Brucki said of winning in dominant fashion on Senior Night. LATE START The start of the meet was delayed by two hours because the Eagles encountered travel difficulties because of a snowstorm. GOOD START CMU redshirt freshman 125-pounder Drew Hildebrandt scored a takedown with 17 seconds remaining to win the night's first bout, 5-4. That set the tone as the Chippewas went on to win eight of the 10 matches. “Starting at 125 Hildebrandt comes back and wins that match in the third period it looked like he was dead in the water,” CMU coach Tom Borrelli said. “He got taken down with 45 seconds left and he got out and got a takedown and finished the match on top.” COMEBACK CMU's junior 149-pounder Justin Oliver came back from an early 6-0 deficit to win, 12-10, on a takedown with under 25 seconds remaining. It was Oliver's first match in three weeks after he was injured in a dual with Missouri. His win came over senior Kyle Springer, who is the reigning MAC Wrestler of the Week, is ranked third in the MAC, and has scored bonus points in 13 of his 18 matches this season. “He hasn't been able to train real hard,” Borrelli said of Oliver, who is ranked second in the MAC and fourth nationally. “That's just unbelievable guts. It was amazing. To fight off his back to start with. … To keep your wits and keep pecking away and get the final takedown. That (Eastern) kid's a really good wrestler. He's a senior, he's been around the block and he's having a really good year. (Oliver's) got to be in pretty good shape or he's got unbelievable guts to do that.” TAKEDOWN SHOW The Chippewas recorded 20 takedowns on the night. Colin Heffernan (157) had six in his 14-9 victory, and Brucki had five in his. The pair combined for seven takedowns in the third period of their respective matches. “Last dual-meet match in front of the home fans,” Heffernan said. “Kind of want to make it fun – last time they see you compete in the maroon and gold and you want to go out with the best show you can put on. I just wanted to make it as much fun as I could out there. I wanted have a good lasting memory.”
 Said Brucki: “Our team philosophy is put 10 points on the board and the winning will take care of itself. I just knew I was going to out there and wrestle as hard as I could and be consistent with the third-period mentality, adding on and push the pace in the third period.” HANGING IN Chippewa sophomore Mason Smith also came back late to post a 7-5 victory in his 141-pound match. Smith, who is ranked ninth, overcame illness in winning his team-high 28th match of the season (against four losses). “Mason was really sick today,” Borrelli said. “He was three pounds under at weigh in. He might have the flu. He gutted out a win.” QUOTING COACH Borrelli: “All up and down our lineup, we wrestled very hard, we were pretty aggressive. Logan Storley (Photo/Bellator) In two months, Logan Storley will be appearing in his first-ever main-card bout in his young pro MMA career. The four-time NCAA All-American wrestler for University of Minnesota will be facing Joaquin Buckley in a welterweight (170-pound) event at Bellator 197 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. just outside St. Louis on Friday, April 13. Storley signed with Bellator in June 2017. This will be his third fight within that organization, having won his most recent bout by unanimous decision over Matt Secor at Bellator 186 last November. The 25-year-old native of Webster, S.D. -- same hometown as former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar -- brings a 6-0 record to Bellator 197 since his first pro MMA fight in November 2015. Five of Storley's wins were by TKO, four of those in the first round. A native of St. Louis, Buckley, 23, brings a 8-1 pro record to Bellator 197. His only loss was to Jackie Gosh at Bellator 164 in November 2016, the victim of a first-round TKO. Of his seven wins, five were by TKO. Buckley launched his pro MMA career in September 2014.
