ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. -- With the team score knotted at 16-16 and the day's final match in overtime, Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion) earned an escape with 10 seconds remaining in the second-tiebreaker period to claim a 19-16 upset for the Wildcats over the third-ranked Illini. The Wildcats won five matches on the day, including three of the last four to earn the victory in front of a raucous crowd at Rolling Meadows High School. No. 8 John Velez (Kings Mills, Ohio/Kings) gave Northwestern a huge boost to start the match by pinning Illinois' third-ranked Kyle Ott at 125 lbs. The two exchanged shot attempts through the first period, but entered the second round scoreless. Velez began the second period by standing up for an escape, taking a 1-0 lead, then fended off a number of Ott takedown attempts to take his 1-0 lead into the final period. Ott tied the score with 1:45 remaining in the match with an escape of his own, but Velez countered on an Ott shot attempt, rolled Ott over and came through with a thrilling pin to give Northwestern a 6-0 lead. With the momentum in NU's corner, Daniel Quintela (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) took the mat for NU. While Quintela couldn't get the win at 133 lbs., he took control through the final period and prevented IU's Gabe Flores from notching a major decision. With Northwestern holding a 6-3 lead, sixth-ranked Ryan Lang (North Royalton, Ohio/St. Edward) faced Illinois' Cassio Pero at 141 lbs. Lang got a hold of Pero's left leg and took him down midway through the first period to take a 2-0 lead. After Pero tallied an escape, Lang took a 2-1 lead into the second period. Pero began the period by nearly notching a takedown, but Lang scrambled and nearly turned it into a takedown of his own. With the score still 2-1 in the third, Lang turned up his intensity and rode Pero for nearly the entire period. Lang remained in control and walked off with the win. Marty Gould (Lincolnwood, Ill./Niles West) took the mat next for the 'Cats, facing Illinois' Troy Tirapelle at 149 lbs. Tirapelle was awarded a number of early takedowns, but Gould held tough and trailed by just three entering the final period. With 30 seconds remaining, Gould tallied a reversal to make the score 7-6 and shift the match's momentum in his favor. He attempted a late shot, but just couldn't hit and dropped the hard-fought match, 7-6. At 157 lbs., Greg Hagel (Linwood, N.J./Blair Academy) faced No. 1 Alex Tirapelle. Hagel put up a valiant effort versus Illinois' All-American and nearly hit on takedowns throughout the match, but Tirapelle was just too much in the end and took the match, 10-2. With the 'Cats trailing for the first time in the match, 18th-ranked Will Durkee (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) fell to Illinois' eighth-ranked Mike Poeta, giving Ilinois a 13-9 lead. No. 2 Jake Herbert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) then looked to regain the lead for Wildcats when he took the mat versus the Illini's 16th-ranked Donny Reynolds. Herbert rode Reynolds for a majority of the match and scored on a flurry of takedowns and reversals to take the major decision win, 15-6. With the team score tied at 13-13 and just three weight classes to go, No. 11 Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) came up with a clutch victory versus Illinois' fourth-ranked Pete Friedl. Tamillow started the match by notching a takedown, then nearly scored again on a scramble late in the first. Friedl tied the score at 2-2 with a second-period escape and the two entered the final period all knotted up. Tamillow regained the lead with an escape to start the third, but Friedl took a 4-3 lead on a takedown with 45 seconds remaining. Tamillow then tallied what would turn out to be a huge escape to tie the score at 4-4. The two traded shot attempts until the end of the match, when Tamillow was awarded the riding time point and defeated Friedl, 5-4. With Northwestern holding onto a 16-13 lead, No. 12 Matt Delguyd (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) faced the Illini's ninth-ranked Tyrone Byrd. Byrd took a 3-0 lead into the final round, but Delguyd cut the score to 3-1 with an escape midway through the third. Delguyd repeatedly shot at the end, but couldn't get the takedown he needed and dropped the match, 3-1. With the team score tied at 16-16, the pressure was on for the heavyweights. No. 8 Fox faced Illinois' Matt Weight in the final match of the day. After a scoreless first period, Fox started the second period on top, but surrendered an escape to give Weight a 1-0 lead heading into the final round. Fox tied the score with an escape to begin the third and the two entered sudden victory. After the sudden victory and first tiebreaker went by without a score, the two entered the final-tiebreaker session. Starting the round down and with the crowd chanting "let's go Fox," the NU sophomore stood up for an escape to take a 2-1 lead with 10 seconds remaining. Fox outlasted Weight until the end and claimed the victory for Northwestern. "This was a big win for us," head coach Tim Cysewski said. "This win shows that we can compete with and beat anybody out there." With the win, Northwestern improves to 8-4 this season, 3-2 in the Big Ten and snaps a 10-match losing streak to the Illini. A pair of major decisions at 133 pounds and 165 pounds made the difference for the Tigers, who beat the Sooners for the third time in the past four seasons. No. 1-ranked junior Ben Askren (Hartland, Wis.) became the fastest Tiger grappler to reach the 100 career wins plateau, defeating No. 12 Wes Roberts, 8-6. The only Missouri wrestler to reach the mark as a junior, Askren scored his first points on a takedown late in the second period, closing a 3-0 deficit with his 34th straight victory, the longest active streak in the nation. Taking down his opponent three times in the final frame, Askren took the lead and held on Sophomore Tyler McCormick (Leawood, Kan.) opened an early advantage over Trey Blakely at 133 pounds, completing a double leg 1:37 into the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Ranked No. 17 in the nation, McCormick earned another takedown to get a three-point advantage with 15 seconds left in the period, 4-1. After scoring three more points in the second, McCormick escaped Blakely's hold to open the final frame, then added a takedown and 2:36 of riding time to pick up a major decision, 11-1. After fighting to 0-0 draw through the opening four minutes of the 157-pound bout, redshirt freshman Michael Chandler (High Ridge, Mo.) broke the stalemate with an escape midway through the second frame. Breaking the match wide open in the final minute, Chandler scored eight points on a reversal and a pair of three-point nearfalls to win his second straight dual victory, 9-2. Continuing the Tiger's streak at 165 pounds, No. 5 junior Matt Pell (Luxemburg, Wis.) picked up a takedown 58 seconds into the match to open a 2-0 lead over No. 14 Jarrod King. After trading points throughout much of the second period, Pell scored five points on a takedown and three-point nearfall to open a commanding lead heading into the third period, 9-2. Holding on for the victory, Pell racked up 3:39 of riding time to win the bout, 11-2. Taking Missouri's fourth match in a row, No. 15 Raymond Jordan (New Bern, N.C.) upset No. 13 Justin Dyer, 2-1, to give the Tigers a 17-9 lead in the dual after the 184-pound bout. Fighting to a draw through the first three minutes, Jordan took the lead with a reversal with 54 seconds left in the bout, gaining the points needed for the victory. "I'm proud of the way the team wrestled today," Head Coach Brian Smith said. "We had a hard week of tough practices, but the guys kept working hard and it showed against Oklahoma. Every wrestler grappled hard for the full seven minutes." The 14th-ranked Tigers travel to Iowa next weekend for a pair of duals with Iowa State and Northern Iowa on Sunday, Feb.12 at 2 p.m., and Monday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. Results 125 - #2 Sam Hazewinkel (OU) dec. #18 Austin DeVoe (MU): 11-7 133 - #17 Tyler McCormick (MU) maj. dec. MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin wrestling team ended its home schedule Sunday with a 38-12 trouncing of Ohio State at the UW Field House. The Badgers took seven of 10 matches, including three pins, two forfeits and one major decision and improved to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in Big Ten Conference action. The Buckeyes fell to 4-9 overall and remained winless in the Big Ten (0-5). The match began at 125 lbs., where Collin Cudd (River Falls, Wis.) faced Anner Arroyo of Ohio State. Cudd was in control from the start, notching a takedown and a three-point near fall in the first period, before pinning Arroyo at 3:44 in the second. Senior Ed Gutnik (Iselin, N.J.) wrapped up his UW Field House career with his third straight Big Ten win. Gutnik battled OSU's T.J. Enright at 141 lbs. The match was tight and the scoring stingy, as the pair battled to a 1-1 tie at the end of three periods. However, Gutnik gained control of Enright less than 30 seconds into overtime, pinning the Buckeye at 7:39. The two pins, along with Tom Clum's forfeit win gave the Badgers a comfortable 18-0 lead. At 149 lbs. No. 9 Tyler Turner (Spring Valley, Wis.) faced No. 13 J Jagers, who put the Buckeyes on the board defeating Turner, 5-3. UW was quick to answer as No. 7 Craig Henning earned his ninth consecutive dual victory taking down Steve Wollery, 12-2. Henning improved to an impressive 22-4 overall record and remained unbeaten in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes didn't surrender winning the next two matches and tightening the score to 22-12. Wisconsin's Jake Donar (Cuba City, Wis.) faced Nathaniel Augustson at 165 lbs., with Augustson pinning the Badger at 4:24 in the match. OSU's Blake Maurer then narrowly defeated Mike Felling (Hutchinson, Minn.) at 174 lbs., winning 8-7. Nonetheless, the Badgers couldn't be stopped, taking the final three matches. Matt Maciag notched his first Big Ten victory defeating the Buckeyes Zach Craiglow, 14-5. At 197 lbs., Dallas Herbst (Winneconne, Wis.) ended his three-match skid and earned his first Big Ten win defeating the Buckeye's James Aston. After the fist period ended scoreless, Herbst stepped up in the second, earning five points in near falls before pinning Aston at 3:54. At heavyweight senior Lee Kraemer (DeForest, Wis.) faced a much larger Kirk Nail who is ranked No. 20. Though both opponents had chances in the first period, neither could score. Kraemer held his own, despite the weight difference, and denied Nail's advances. Encouraged by the frenzied and captivated crowd, Karmer roared into the second accruing over a minute of riding time before Nail could escape. Kraemer had to score now in this tight match and came through with a takedown moments later. The winded and injured Nail sensed Kraemer's momentum and bowed out giving Kraemer the win by medical forfeit. The crowd was disappointed with the forfeit, but having dominated Ohio State's team the Badger fans cheered the 38-12 Big Ten victory. The Badgers will take a week off before hitting the road for more Big Ten action at Michigan State Feb. 17 and Illinois Feb. 19. Check uwbadgers.com for the latest updates and scores. ITHACA, N.Y. -- On the heels of a 38-0 blanking of Columbia in its Ivy League opener a day before, the Big Red wrestling team disposed of No. 21 Hofstra 24-13 on Sunday afternoon at the Friedman Wrestling Center. The Big Red won six of the ten bouts, improving its dual record to 5-4. With the loss, Hofstra falls to 10-5-1. The match started at 125, where Cornell sends impressive freshman Troy Nickerson to the mat. Hofstra, struggling with injuries, forfeited the 125 pound bout and also the 133 pound match, where Cornell senior Mike Mormile was scheduled to wrestle. Armed with a quick 12-0 lead, the Big Red sent junior Matt Easter to the mat for the 141 pound match, where he would face No. 12 Charles Griffin. Griffin scored a takedown in the first period to take the 2-0 lead. Griffin chose bottom to start the second and escaped 25 seconds in. After two penalty points against Easter, one for unsportsmanlike conduct and one for unnecessary roughness, Griffin scored a late takedown. With the riding time point, Griffin took the 8-0 major decision. At 149 pounds, Keith Dickey faced No. 4 Jon Masa. There was no scoring in either of the first two periods, as neither wrestler could score a takedown in the first and Masa rode out Dickey in the second. Masa chose bottom to start the third and eventually escaped to grab the 1-0 lead. Dickey would continue to take shots, but was unable to control Masa, who eventually scored a takedown with under one minute remaining. After Dickey escaped, he tried for the reversal, but Masa retreated out of bounds and was hit with a penalty point, bringing Dickey within 3-2. However, Dickey could not score the final takedown in the last 49 seconds of the bout and, with the riding time point, Masa won 4-2. No. 5 Dustin Manotti took on No. 15 James Strouse in the 157 pound match. Just over two minutes into the first period, Manotti got what would prove to be the only takedown of the match. Strouse got to within 2-1 with an escape in the second period, but Manotti took back the two-point lead with an escape of his own to open the third. With time winding down in the match, Manotti was hit with a penalty point for stalling, but it wouldnt matter as the Cornell senior tri-captain held on for a 3-2 win. Through five bouts, the Big Red held a 15-7 lead. In the 165 pound bout, Cornells 13th-ranked Steve Anceravage took on Chris Vondruska. Anceravage got a takedown in the first and an escape in the second to go up 3-1. There was no scoring in the third and the Cornell sophomore got the riding time point for a 4-1 win. Cornell senior Dan Miracola faced off against No. 5 Mike Patrovich at 174 pounds and would give the Hofstra senior a tough test. Patrovich took a 2-0 lead with an early takedown in the first and extended the lead to 4-0 lead with a takedown halfway through the second period. Miracola scored an escape late in the second and, after choosing bottom to start the third, he got to within 4-2 with another escape. Miracola needed a takedown in the last 1:53 of the match and took quality shots that came close to controlling Patrovich. However, Patrovich warded off Miracolas offense and held on for a 4-2 win. At 184 pounds, No. 5 Joe Mazzurco faced Hofstras 19th-ranked Joe Rovelli in a matchup of two top-20 wrestlers. Mazzurco got two first period takedowns and led 4-1 after one. After Rovelli deferred the decision to start the second, Mazzurco chose neutral, but neither wrestler could record a point. The third period saw Rovelli choose top as he would ride Mazzurco for the entire period without being able to turn the Cornell All-American for back points and the match ended at 4-1 in favor of Mazzurco. Seventh-ranked Jerry Rinaldi took to the mat for the 197 pound match against Chris Weidman in what proved to be a tough, closely contested match. Rinaldi got a takedown in the final 30 seconds of the first period and Weidman scored a takedown of his own in the final 20 seconds of the second period to tie it up at 2-2. With time winding down in the period, Weidman was unable to ride Rinaldi to the end of the second, as the Cornell junior escaped to regain the lead. Rinaldi chose down to start the third, escaped and would eventually hold on for the win, 4-3. Senior Matt Pollock made his dual meet debut for the Big Red in the heavyweight contest. The Big Red senior, who also plays on the defensive line for the Cornell football team faced Jon Andriac in the final bout of the afternoon. There was no scoring in the first, but Andriac escaped once in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead. With time winding down, Pollock shot at Andriacs legs, getting Andriac on his heels, but they tumbled out of bounds before Pollock could gain control. That would turn out to be Pollocks best shot at scoring, as he dropped a 2-0 decision. The Big Red will be in action again next weekend, when it takes on No. 22 Penn, Princeton and Rider. The Penn match, the winner of which will have the inside track on the Ivy League title, is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m., in Philadelphia, Pa. On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Big Red will take on Princeton in Princeton, N.J., before heading to Lawrenceville, N.J. to face Rider. EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The No. 18 Michigan State wrestling team (4-5) used a fall by junior All-American Nick Simmons to upset seventh-ranked Iowa (8-6), 19-17 on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5, sweeping its weekend series and improving to 2-2 in the Big Ten. "That was another very satisfying win for our team," head coach Tom Minkel said. "Once again, we had all 10 of our guys contribute in some way. We know we are a solid tournament team, but winning dual meets like this one proves we can compete in duals as well." Iowa took an early 3-0 lead following a 5-2 win by No. 7 Paul Bradley over Joe Williams at 184 pounds. The two-time All-American took Williams down in the first and third periods and wrestled a predominately defensive-oriented match to claim the victory. Senior Jeff Clemens tied things up for the Green and White at 197 pounds, dropping Dan Erekson, 8-4, for his 14th win of the season. Clemens fell behind early, giving up a takedown in the opening minute, but rallied to tally four takedowns of his own, in addition to eliminating Erekson's riding-time advantage in the final four minutes. The victory was the Bellbrook, Ohio, native's first of the Big Ten season. Ryan Fuller put the Hawkeyes back on top at 285 pounds, dropping MSU senior Max Lossen, 7-3. Similar to Bradley's win at 184 pounds, Fuller took Lossen down early in the first period, and sealed the match with a takedown in the closing seconds. Nick Simmons turned in another dominating performance at 125 pounds, pinning Lucas Magnani at 2:39 of the first period to give State its first lead of the afternoon at 9-6. Simmons came out on the offensive, putting Magnani to his back twice before notching his team-leading 12th fall of the 2005-06 campaign. Simmons, ranked fourth in the nation, is now 24-0 and 9-0 in dual meets. He is in sole possession of sixth place on MSU's all-time falls list with 31. MSU extended its lead to 12-6 following red-shirt freshman Jeff Wimberley's first dual-meet win of his career at 133 pounds. Wimberley defeated Daniel Dennis in come-from-behind fashion, 9-6. Trailing 5-1 midway through the second period, Wimberley put Dennis to his back and notched another takedown in the third, earning a standing ovation from the Spartan faithful heading into the intermission. No. 5 Andy Simmons won an intense match, 2-1, over No. 12 Alex Tsirtsis to extend the Michigan State lead to 15-6. After a scoreless first period, Simmons chose bottom to start the second and reversed Tsirtsis 1:20 into the period. The junior All-American held on amidst a scramble as time expired in the third period to claim his team-leading 24th win of the season. Ames, Iowa -- Iowa State's Kurt Backes upset Penn State's top-ranked Eric Bradley at 184 pounds and Nate Gallick became the 29th Cyclone wrestler to reach 100 career wins as the eighth-ranked ISU wrestlers downed ninth-ranked Penn State, 20-18, Sunday afternoon at Ames High School. Travis Paulson scored a pin at 165 pounds and Jason Knipp scored an upset at 149 pounds to aid Iowa State's cause. The Nittany Lions (10-4, 2-3 Big 10), who have nine weight classes in the national rankings compared to the Cyclones' four, were coming off an impressive victory over No. 7 Iowa, 21-12, Friday night in Iowa City. Iowa State improves to 11-5 overall. The match was wrestled before a raucous crowd in the high school gym because of a conflict with Sunday's ISU-Colorado men's basketball game in Hilton Coliseum. "You can see that we are improving," Iowa State associate head coach Cael Sanderson said. "We had a great atmosphere today. Knipp did some good things today and Backes dominated the No. 1 man in his weight class. Backes still has room for improvement. He didn't take advantage of all the opportunities he had during the match." Gallick, a two-time All-American, kept his perfect record intact at 26-0 as he picked apart Penn State's DeWitt Driscoll for a 17-6 major decision at 141 pounds for his 100th career victory, tying Dan Gable. The senior from Tucson, Ariz., blitzed Driscoll with a flurry of four takedowns in the third period and added three minutes of riding time to down the 10th ranked Nittany Lion. The major decision marked Gallick's 13th win this season resulting in bonus points. "To be on a list of all the great wrestlers here is a great honor," Gallick said. "I've been wrestling as much as I can this year and it was nice to give the team some bonus points. He (Driscoll) wrestled a very physical match but I could feel him getting tired in the third period." ISU's Knipp improved to 15-7 with his 6-4 decision over the 11th ranked Woodall. Knipp, a junior from Waterloo, overcame a 1-3 deficit at the start of the third period with an escape and two takedowns. His final takedown came with 0:37 remaining. "I came in as the underdog today," Knipp said. "I met his style and tried to wrestle a physical match. After third-ranked Trent Paulson blanked Penn State's 14th ranked Nathan Galloway, 7-0, at 157 pounds, ISU's No. 9 Travis Paulson worked PSU's 12th ranked freshman David Erwin for his second pin of the season at the 4:34 mark. The ninth-ranked Backes dealt Bradley, the nation's No. 1 wrestler at 184 pounds his first loss of the season with a 10-2 major decision in a battle of two All-Americans hailing from New Jersey. Bradley (Plaistow, N.J.), a 2005 All-American and two-time Big 10 champion, had only given up three takedowns in his career prior to facing Backes, with two of them coming against three-time NCAA champion Greg Jones formerly of West Virginia. After a scoreless first period, Backes took down Bradley twice in the second-period and scored a three-point nearfall halfway through the final frame. Backes (Neshanic Station, N.J.) is now 16-5 this season. "I have been working really hard the last three weeks and just came out to wrestler hard the entire match," Backes said. "I was proud of (Jason) Knipp. He wrestled a great match. My spine was tingling during his match when I was warming up." The Cyclones continue Big 12 competition this weekend, hosting Missouri Feb. 12. ISU dropped a dual to the Tigers in January at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, 21-18. OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley State held off South Dakota State 25-16 Saturday night to pick up its fourth straight dual win and improve to 6-8 on the season. With the Wolverines up 21-16 and one match to go, 184 senior Ivan Bigney put it away, never leaving the outcome in doubt with a big 14-0 major decision over Levi Krehmeyer. "Ivan has just come up huge for use these last few matches," said UV head coach Cody Sanderson. "He's getting wins for us and he's scoring bonus points. We got to the point where the match was still on the line and he goes out there and dominates and puts it away." The Wolverines won six of the 10 matches, including a win by forfeit and a pin by Talon Vickers. South Dakota State took an early 6-0 lead after 197 pounder Cody Nehl pinned Jaime Thornblad 2:06 in. Heavyweight Dallin Norton put the momentum back on Utah Valley's side, avenging a November loss to South Dakota's Jason Stripling, winning a 5-2 decision to get the Wolverines on the board. Stripling beat Norton 5-4 at the Cyclone Open on November 12th in Fort Dodge, Iowa. "For Dallin to struggle like he did mid-season and come back and beat a guy that had beaten him before is excellent. I'm proud of him," said Sanderson. At 125 pounds, Talon Vickers earned his ninth straight win with a fall over Marcus Waters with just :07 seconds to go in the first period. Utah Valley gained a 15-6 lead after the Jacks forfeited at 133 pounds, giving senior Erkin Tadzhimetov his 26th win of the season. SDSU's Derek Pirner then scored a 10-2 major decision over Daniel Polkowske at 141 pounds to cut the UV lead to 15-10. At 149 pounds it looked as though Justin Rawle would go down in defeat, but a reversal with just :25 seconds on the clock tied the match at four and eventually gave Rawle riding time to give him a 5-4 win and and the Wolverines three more points, extending the lead to 18-10. "If he loses that match it's a whole different story for those last few," said Sanderson. "That should give him a lot of confidence." The 157 pound bout was another tight match with Tanner Cowan scoring a reversal with :14 seconds to go to hold of Andy Everson 7-4 and give UV a 21-10 advantage. South Dakota State would fight back though, when Brad Gregory topped Devin Siddoway 6-5 at 165 pounds making the team score 21-13 Utah Valley. The Jacks' Travis Gottschalk kept the Jackrabbits in the match with a 5-0 win over DJ Meis at 174 pounds, setting up the deciding match between Bigney and Krehmeyer. "We're wrestling well. The guys are excited and they're confident and they're just wrestling better," said Sanderson. Up next for Utah Valley State is North Dakota State next Tuesday night at 7:00pm in the Activity Center.

Fairfield, CT -- Despite earning wins in five of its 10 matches against Sacred Heart, the Rutgers University wrestling team fell to the Pioneers by a 22-18 count on Saturday evening. The Scarlet Knights won two very promising matches and lost another. 165-pound freshman Matt Pletcher (East Hampton, NJ) defeated SHU's Anthony Hayes, 5-4, and 197-pounder Lamar Brown (Red Bank, NJ) dropped Kevin Fox by a 6-5 count. Steve Adamcsik (Chester, NJ) struggled against a tough opponent in Chris Davis of the Pioneers; however, the 141-pound junior was able to extend his personal winning streak to 17 matches with a 5-4 decision. Adamcsik has not lost a match since Nov. 27, when he lost to Matt Ennis of Lehigh, and he currently owns the best record on the Rutgers squad at 21-3, including a 12-1 mark in dual meets. Senior Rudy Medini (Colonia, NJ) earned the lone Rutgers pin of the night when he dropped Andrew Silber at the 3:36 mark. Wrestling Payam Zarrinpour, the 11th ranked heavyweight in the nation, freshman Mike D'Amico (Kenilworth, NJ) dropped a close 5-3 decision. RU head coach John Sacchi was encouraged by the victories by both Pletcher and Brown; however, D'Amico's match stuck out in particular. "I feel very good about the way [D'Amico] wrestled, even though he lost," Sacchi said. "He was facing one of the best heavyweights in the nation tonight and he gave him all he could handle. We got some promising wins from our younger guys and two veterans in [Adamcsik] and [Medini]. Even though we won five matches, their edge in pins proved to be the difference." The Scarlet Knights held an 18-16 lead heading into the final match; however, 149-pound sophomore Marcello Medini (Colonia, NJ) lost by pin-fall at 2:45 to Sean Eagan and RU wound up on the short end of a 22-18 score. Sayers (174), John Davis (184), Lloyd Rogers (197) and Silva (285). "We went out to try to improve upon what we did in the last match with Appalachian," UTC Head Coach Joe Seay said. "We wrestled well tonight, and we won some close matches. I have told our guys that we have to win the close matches. That is what could be the difference in going to the NCAAs or not. Several of the matches could have gone either way." UTC and ASU tied 21-21 in a non-conference match on Nov. 13 at the Mat Jam Duals in Boone, N.C. Yost scored a 9-1 major decision over The Cumberlands' Thomas Hutchinson at 157 pounds to clinch the earlier victory for the Mocs. His win pushed UTC's margin to 14-3 and proved to be too much for the Patriots to overcome. After Delrico Choates edged UTC's Javier Maldonado 5-4 on a riding-time point in the first match of the night at 125 pounds, the Mocs reeled off five straight victories for a 17-3 lead. The string included wins by Adam Rains (133), Keefe (141), Martin (149), Yost and Daniel Peterson (165). Kyle McKee pinned Edward Hernandez in the 184-pound match, and Silva earned a 3-1 overtime victory over Matt Bishop at 285. BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Lehigh's seniors bid farewell to Grace Hall on Saturday afternoon and the fourteenth-ranked Mountain Hawks swept a pair of duals in front of a sold out Leeman-Turner Arena. The Brown and White opened the day with a 28-9 win over No. 21 Hofstra then rolled to a 36-6 triumph over Maryland. The Mountain Hawks now stand at 12-5-1 on the season. The Mountain Hawks were able to gain early momentum in their dual with Hofstra. Dave Nakasone got Lehigh off to a strong start, wearing down Alton Lucas en route to a 12-7 decision, before a pair of Mountain Hawks got Lehigh rolling with upsets over nationally ranked wrestlers. At 174 seventeenth ranked senior Travis Frick opened his final Saturday inside Grace, scoring a first period takedown and second period reversal to hold off the Pride's No. 5 ranked Joe Rovelli 4-3. Then, at 184, junior Dave Helfrich scored a takedown near the edge of the mat with under 30 seconds left to edge nineteenth ranked Joe Rovelli. Paul Weibel kept things rolling at 197, utilizing a five-point move in the first period to beat Chris Weidman 9-4. Hofstra got six points back as Jon Andriac pinned Matt Cassidy at heavyweight, but Lehigh would come roaring back as Matt Fisk put some points on the scoreboard with an 11-2 major decision over Dave Tomasette at 125. The final three bouts against the Pride were match-ups between nationally ranked wrestlers. The Mountain Hawks emerged victorious at 141 as senior Cory Cooperman got the best of Charles Griffin and at 157 where fellow senior Derek Zinck edged James Strouse 3-2. Lehigh avenged a 23-10 loss to the Pride last year on Long Island, when the Mountain Hawks were ranked second in the nation. Against the Terrapins, Lehigh fell behind 6-0 when Adam Decosmo pinned Nakasone halfway through the first period. After Frick won by forfeit at 174, senior Brian LaMay was able to leave Grace Hall on a high note. LaMay had an early takedown, three-point near-fall combo to build an early lead, and cruised to a 17-2 technical fall, with the riding time point securing the 15 point margin of victory at the final buzzer. Greg Strobel then once again flip-flopped his 197 pounders and Cassidy, wrestling at 197 held off a feisty Jerry Afari 12-9, while Weibel was a winner by forfeit at heavyweight. Lehigh would secure wins in each of the final five bouts to put the dual away. Matt Fisk beat James Knox 7-0 to avenge a loss at the Southern Scuffle. Sophomore John Stout, Cooperman and Ciasulli all had wins by decision to extend the lead, and in the Mountain Hawks final bout of the day, Zinck wrapped up his Grace Hall career with a 14-4 major decision over Adam James to wrap up the 30 point win over a Maryland team that is coached by former Lehigh assistant Pat Santoro and former Lehigh All-American Brad Dillon. The Mountain Hawks will return to the mat on Sunday, February 12, when they travel to West Point to take on EIWA rival Army. The dual gets underway at 7:30 and will be televised on ESPNU. As always, audio coverage of the dual will be available on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as online at lehighsports.com with streaming powered by Yahoo! Sports.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The No. 19 Navy wrestling team placed all 10 wrestlers in the top three of their respective weight classes to ease past Army at the 12th annual All-Academy Championships held at the Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday. The Mids scored 117 points to outdistance the Black Knights' 107 points. The team title is the third straight for Navy and sixth overall. "It was a fight all day," said an exhausted Navy head coach Bruce Burnett. "We didn't look great today, but we did enough to win. We definitely have some work to do late in the season, but I think we are getting better and the guys know what needs to be done late in the season." The Mids got four championships, including a key victory at 125 pounds. Alex Usztics (Dauphin, Pa.), seeded second in the preseeds, upset top-seeded William Simpson of Army, 6-4, in the finals. The eight-point swing gave Navy the boost it needed to defeat the Black Knights. "I can't stress how important his win was for us today," said Burnett. "This win will give him a lot of confidence as he heads late in the season. He placed second last year and knew he could win it this year. He had a great tournament." Navy's next title came at 133 pounds, when freshman Joe Baker (Poway, Calif.) held on late to defeat Army's Frankie Baughan, 10-9. It marked the first time in his Navy career that Baker wrestled more than one match in a day. However, he held on for his second career tournament title, the other coming as an unattached wrestler at the Penn State Open. Navy next chance at a title came at 149 pounds, with John Cox (Grand Haven, Mich.) battling Army's Patrick Simpson. The two wrestlers were even when Cox was forced to take a medical forfeit after an apparent leg injury. It is not known how serious the injury is. At 165 pounds, Craig Dziewiatkowski (Aurora, Ill.) dropped a 9-5 decision to Army's Jon Anderson in the finals, to give the Navy senior a second-place finish. Navy, however, got back on the right track with sophomore Matt Stolpinski's second title in as many years at 174 pounds. Stolpinski was very strong for the Mids, winning his first two matches by major decision, then scoring key bonus points in the finals, pinning the Citadel's Darius Caldwell in 6:43. At 184 pounds, Jonny Kane (Portland, Maine) placed second, falling to Army's top-seeded Luke Calvert, 9-5, in the finals. The loss was Kane's first since Jan. 7, snapping a personal-best seven-match winning streak. The Mids clinched the match at heavyweight when top-seeded Tanner Garrett (Tulsa, Okla.) breezed to the title. Garrett won his first two matches by fall, before earning his third championship with an 8-2 victory over Scott Buhman of Virginia Military. During Navy's three straight team titles, Navy wrestlers have won 14 of the 30 individual championships during that span. "We got a number of strong performances in the wrestlebacks as well that were very key to winning the title," said Burnett. "Spencer Manley had a strong tournament, placing third and giving him some confidence. And Chris Pogue won his two matches in the wrestlebacks by fall, giving us some key points as well. It was a struggle today, but we fought hard and got the wins we needed." Navy will now have just two more dual meets in the next two weekends, before traveling to Lehigh for the EIWA Championships. "We know we have our hands full in the next two meets," said Burnett, who was named the All-Academy Tournament Coach of the Year. "American (Navy will wrestle the Eagles on Friday night in Washington, D.C.) has some great talent and are ranked in the top 20 in a few polls. The dual with Army is going to be a great, great dual meet. We had a lot of very close matches with Army in this tournament, and if that is any indication, the dual meet is going to be very, very competitive. "We hope that we can good some strong crowd support during the next two weekends and really start to prepare for the EIWA Championships," said Burnett. Navy will wrestle American on Friday, Feb. 10, at 7:00 p.m., in Washington, D.C.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- For the second-straight night, the Lock Haven University wrestling squad (5-10, 1-1 EWL) faced a team undefeated in Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action, but this time LHU came out on top of Cleveland State University (5-5, 1-1 EWL) 25-15 tonight (Feb. 4) at Thomas Fieldhouse. CSU had beaten the University of Pittsburgh 16-15 back on Jan. 26 the team's most recent dual, but the Bald Eagles took the fight to the Vikings from the start, cinching the match with two bouts left. "I'm extremely happy with most of our guys' efforts tonight," said LHU head coach Rocky Bonomo. "In order to continue success, we need to get consistent effort from top to bottom in our lineup. I was concerned about a let-down today after the strong effort we gave last night against Edinboro, but that wasn't a problem." LHU got wins from six of the 10 classes, including a pin from No. 17 Seth Martin (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) at 157, a major decision from junior Carlos Ponce (Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah Miami Lakes) at 174, a forfeit win for No. 15 Obenson Blanc (Naples, Fla./Lely) at 125 and decisions from sophomore Casey Moore (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) at 133, No. 17 Joshua Medina (Las Vegas/Pima C.C.) at 149 and freshman Tom Kocher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) at 197. Blanc received his forfeit win, his 20th of the season, before the day started at 133. Moore scored a takedown on the Vikings' David Armstrong with two seconds left in the first period, putting Moore up 3-2 and igniting a 5-2 run over the remainder of the match for the 8-4 win. CSU pulled the team score back to 9-3 in LHU's favor with a 9-5 decision of sophomore Brian Ellis (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) at 141. Medina then won the third period of his bout 5-2 to seal the 8-3 victory over Ryan Hurley and push the team score to 12-3. At 157, Martin needed the fall to get his eighth-straight victory, a win over Victer Crenshaw. Martin found himself down 6-2 early in the first period, but bull-rushed the freshman to his back and held on for his 10th and quickest fall of the season. Cleveland State's Tim Scarl then beat sophomore Rory McCoy (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) 11-6 at 165 before Ponce picked up his major victory in 14-4 fashion over David Gilkey. CSU's Ron Howard, a national qualifier a year ago, needed bonus points to keep the Vikings in the team battle, but junior Derrick Morgan (Media, Pa./Athens) wouldn't allow that to happen, despite losing 11-4, pushing the match out of reach with two bouts left. Kocher extended the lead over the experienced Ishmal Williams with an 11-4 emphasis. In the final bout of the day, the heavyweights needed extra time to decide their bout, but CSU's Rashard Goff finished off senior Tim Meyers (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) with a pin in 7:33, ending the match at 25-15. Bonomo, Martin, Ponce, Blanc, Moore, Medina, Kocher, Ellis, McCoy, Morgan, Meyers and the rest of the Bald Eagles are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to Pittsburgh (2-7, 0-2 EWL) who most recently lost to West Virginia University yesterday 20-13.

The Blue Devils improve to 1-8 on the year while Campbell falls to 3-9. Duke won nine of the 10 weight classes, including the first eight matches of the evening. "It was a nice win," stated Duke Head Coach Clar Anderson. "I'm obviously real pleased with the outcome of the match. Basically, we had more confidence. We felt we could beat these guys and I think we need to learn to wrestle to this level every time we go out." The dual meet began at 125 pounds and the Blue Devils grabbed a 3-0 lead on sophomore Kellan McKeon's 3-2 win over Richie Apolinar. Freshman Michael Degli Obizzi followed McKeon's victory by recording the only fall of the night, pinning R.J. Mazzatta in 2:49 at 133 pounds. Redshirt freshman Aaron Glover followed with a 5-1 win over Brent Poynter at 165 pounds to put Duke up by 23 points. "I was very pleased with Aaron Glover," Anderson said. "It's nice for him and his confidence going into the last few ACC matches and the ACC Tournament." Campbell forfeited at 174 pounds, giving the Blue Devils six points to extend their lead to 29-0. Redshirt freshman Dan Tulley then dominated Kyle Higgins, 24-4, to score a major decision victory at the 184-pound weight class. Campbell picked up its lone win of the meet at 197 pounds as Jason Cook defeated junior Patrick Keenum, 9-5. "I kind of feel bad for Patrick Keenum because he was leading in the match and was caught in a five-point move and ended up not being able to come back," Anderson stated. Freshman Wade Van Sickle emphatically closed out Duke's dominating performance by scoring the fourth major decision victory of the night for the Blue Devils, defeating Jeremiah Fennell, 13-5, in the heavyweight division. The Duke wrestling team will host ACC foe Virginia Tech on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Roadrunners won seven of the 10 individual titles and scored 88 points, easily cruising to the team title in the eight-team tournament. Fresno State placed second in the field with 41 points. Bakersfield wrestlers dominated the finals in three of the weight classes. Both wrestlers scored a pair of wins by decision to advance to the finals. At 141 pounds, the 'Runners placed two in the finals with Matt Schumm (Corona/Centennial HS) picking up the 7–6 decision victory over Jeremy Doyle (Ramona HS). Cody Parker was able to pick up the fall early in the first period for the title. Brandon Doyle (Ramona HS) lost a tough 11–7 decision to Chadron State's Mark Pfeiffer, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, in the finals at 149 pounds. BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Ohio wrestling team avenged last year's 24-12 loss to Virginia Tech with a 30-16 victory over the Hokies on Saturday at Cassell Coliseum. The Bobcats (9-8) used a pin by Terry Jackson, major decisions by Aaron Gomoll, Jake Frerichs and Ryan Knapp and a pair of forfeits at 184 and 197 pounds to earn the win. The meet began with a hard-fought battle at 125 pounds when Virginia Tech's Justin Staylor broke a 2-2 tie in the third period with a reversal and riding time to pull out a 5-2 decision over Caleb Metcalf (Waterville, Ohio). Jackson quickly put Ohio on the board, though, by pinning Hokie 133-pounder Sheridan Moran just 2:07 into the next match. The redshirt freshman from Uhrichsville, Ohio, improved to 9-3 in duals this season with his third straight win. After 16th-ranked David Hoffman pinned Bobcat 141-pounder Frank Brown to give Virginia Tech a 9-6 lead, Ohio bounced back with major decisions in the next two matches for a 14-9 advantage at the meet's midway point. Gomoll's 14-4 victory over Joe Thompson at 149 pounds was the fourth major decision of the year for the junior from Bay Village, Ohio. Frerichs, a redshirt freshman from Uniontown, Ohio, followed that up with a 10-1 major decision over Dave Kiley in the 157-pound bout. "Getting major decisions from Gomoll and Frerichs was big for us," said Bobcat head coach Joel Greenlee, who improved his career dual meet coaching record to 98-68-4. "I think Gomoll is finally starting to come around and wrestle with confidence. And the same thing with Jake, his knees are finally healthy after having surgery earlier this season." The Hokies (0-15) closed the gap to one with a 10-2 major decision by Tucker Michels over Kent Smith (Bowling Green, Ohio) at 165 pounds but Ohio sealed the victory with three straight wins, beginning with Knapp's 11-0 shutout of Mark Czarny at 174. Brian Cesear (Amherst, Ohio) and Nick Terbay (Dayton, Ohio) then won their matches by forfeit and junior heavyweight Marcus Adelman (Alliance, Ohio) lost a 7-3 decision to ninth-ranked Mike Faust in the day's final match. "It was a good match for Knapp," Greenlee said about his sophomore from McConnelsville, Ohio. "We wrestled well as a team and that's something to build on. We went out there and had some fun but tomorrow is a whole new day." Stanford, Calif. -- Stanford closed out the 2006 home dual season with a 40-7 victory over Portland State this afternoon at Burnham Pavilion. With the win, the Cardinal improves to 7-5 with a 4-2 mark in the Pac-10, while the Vikings fall to 2-15 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Tenth-ranked Tanner Gardner set the pace of the meet with a 16-1 technical fall at 5:20 over Portland State's Bricen Yakabe. True freshman Eric Minnick was up next at 133 pounds and he took a 4-0 lead on a takedown and nearfall before a knee injury forced Kip Watson to medical default with just 16 seconds left in the first period. Cardinal senior Juston Johnson won his last match at Burnham Pavilion by forfeit, as Stanford took a 17-0 lead. At 149 pounds, sophomore Josh Zupancic won his 19th match of the year as notched a technical fall at 7:00, as he scored a double leg takedown, earned a two-point nearfall and picked up the riding time point as time expired. Fifth-year senior Zack Hensley stepped into the lineup at 157 pounds for his first match of the year and last of his collegiate career. Trailing 6-1 to start the third period, Hensley selected the top position and tilts Kainoa Casco to his back three times and earns the riding time point to post the 11-6 decision. Miguel Matta took over the starting spot at 165 pounds, but could not score his first dual victory of the year, dropping the major to Portland State's Chris Feist. At 174 pounds, Feist's younger brother Luke Feist started for the Cardinal and took advantage of Kalivas Karras's choice to start down in the second period, tilting him to his back for the pin at 4:56. Senior Brennan Corbett made his second start at 184 pounds (he started the year at 165, but moved up to 174 earlier this season and is filling in for senior co-captain Ryan Hagen at 184 pounds). After a scoreless first period, Corbett started down in the second period and got a quick escape for the 1-0 lead over Sean Murphy. Corbett got Murphy in a front headlock and turned him to his back and pinned him at 4:47 to put the Cardinal on top of the Vikings, 37-4. Portland State got their second win of the day at 197, with Jake Schneider scoring the winning takedown late in the third period over Stanford senior Larry Ozowara. At heavyweight, sophomore Phillip Doerner wrestled in his first collegiate dual and posted an 11-7 decision over Joey Nobriga. Freshman Troy Nickerson and junior Jerry Rinaldi each recorded pins on the afternoon, while seniors Dustin Manotti and Dan Miracola each posted major decisions in the shutout win. The victory moves the Big Red to 4-4 on the year and 1-0 in the Ivy League. Columbia falls to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in the Ancient Eight. Nickerson got the match off to a flying start, racking up the points in the 125 pound bout against Brandon Kinney. Kinney opened the match on the offensive, getting close to a takedown, but the Cornell freshman was able to fight off Kinneys shots. Leading just 2-1 after the first period, Nickerson went on a scoring binge in the second. He escaped after choosing down to start the period and recorded four takedowns to finish the second up 11-4. After three more takedowns, Nickerson got Kinney on his back and got the fall with just 17 seconds remaining in the match, putting Cornell up 6-0. Senior Mike Mormile followed that up with a tough 4-2 win over Matt DeLorenzo in the 133 pound match. A first period Mormile takedown, along with a Mormile escape and riding time proved to be the difference. Juniors Matt Easter and Keith Dickey each put up wins in the 141 and 149 pound bouts, respectively, giving the Big Red a sizeable 15-0 lead, with many of Cornells strongest wrestlers to come. One such wrestler came in the 157 pound match, where three-time All-American Dustin Manotti scored a major decision over Tyler Thurgood. The Cornell senior recorded three first-period takedowns for the early 6-2 lead and would enter the third period leading 8-3. A five-point third period plus riding time pushed the final to 14-4 in favor of Manotti, getting Cornell four more team points. Sophomore Steve Anceravage then beat Dustin Tillman 7-3 at 165 pounds and senior Dan Miracola turned in an impressive performance, getting the major decision over Kenji Porter at 174 pounds. Miracola jumped out to the early lead, when, in the first period, he scored a takedown and a two-point near fall to go up 4-1. A second-period escape pushed the score to 5-1 and then a takedown and another two-point near fall plus nearly three minutes of riding time gave the Cornell senior a 10-1 major victory. At 184 pounds, Columbias Justin Barent gave Cornells Joe Mazzurco all he could handle, but Mazzurco proved to be too much for the Columbia junior. Heading into the third period up 5-2, Mazzurco let Barent escape and was then taken down, to tie the match at 5-5. With under a minute to go, however, Mazzurco muscled out of Barents ride and held on for the 6-5 win. Junior Jerry Rinaldi didnt waste much time ending his match. Rinaldi scored a takedown on Orrin Kleinhenz just 12 seconds into the match and rode him out for much of the period. But before time could expire, Rinaldi turned Kleinhenz and scored the second pin of the afternoon for the Big Red, which led 35-0 heading into the final match of the day. In the heavyweight bout, sophomore Zach Hammond downed John Grando 9-5 to put the finishing touches on an impressive Ivy League opener for the Big Red. The match will be broadcast on a tape delay on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10 p.m. on CSTV. The Big Red will be in action again tomorrow when it takes on No. 21 Hofstra at the Friedman Wrestling Center. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

BUFFALO, NY -- Head coach Jim Beichner was once again able to turn to the same reliable stable of veterans that he has been able to turn to the last four seasons, as the group of three senior upperweights posted 16 team points to clinch a 29-12 win against Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The win was the 100th of Beichner's 11-year stay in Amherst, as he became just the second coach in the 68-year history of UB wrestling to achieve the honor, joining legendary Ed Michael (1970-91), who won 213 matches. After falling behind 12-3 after four matches, the Bulls (9-3 overall, 2-1 MAC) charged back by winning the final six matches, including the last four with bonus points. The senior quad-captain trio of upperweights clinched the meet after the Bulls held a slim 13-12 advantage by posting two technical falls and one fall. Photo of Garrett Hicks Garrett Hicks Senior Garrett Hicks (Chautauqua, NY/Chautauqua Lake) (184 pounds) pushed the Bulls' lead to six after his three 3-point near fall performance helped him to a 17-1 technical fall against John McClure. Senior Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) (197 pounds) posted a quick fall of Tony Lyssiotis in 1:55 to clinch the Buffalo win, helping setup his showdown with No. 1-ranked Wynn Michalak of Central Michigan on Sunday. Cerminara is the last undefeated 197-pounder in the nation. Senior Harold Sherrell (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) (Heavyweight) closed the meet in dominating fashion, posting four 3-point near falls to extend his school single-season record to 29. He won by technical fall against Jake Wood in the first period. After a first-match forfeit, junior Mark Budd (Orrville, OH/Orrville) won a hard-fought match with Phillip Plowman at 133 pounds, as Budd earned a third-period stalling point and then earned an escape with one second left to counter Plowman's riding-time point. He took the 2-1 win for his 14th straight and 32nd of the season. The Eagles' Nick Conklin snatched back a late-round decision at 141 pounds when he earned a takedown with three seconds left to take a 4-3 victory from senior Cliff Smith (Merrick, NY/Calhoun), who had physically dominated the match. Junior Pat Lloyd (Middletown, NY/Valley Central) gave a noble fight against preseason NWCA/InterMat 13th-ranked Jermain Thompson, sending the match through four overtime periods before Thompson earned a takedown. Lloyd had almost earned a takedown but got a no call at the beginning of the fourth overtime. In the second overtime, Thompson got a reversal but Lloyd immediately countered with one of his own as time expired to retie the score. Junior John Cummings (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) got Buffalo back on the winning side of the ledger with a dominating 8-1 victory over Chad Roush for his 13th win in the last 15 matches. Sophomore Mickey Moran (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler Area) then posted his fourth straight win with an 8-4 decision against Chad Roush to bring the Bulls within three at 12-9. Sophomore Mike Ragusa (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) gave the Bulls their first lead of the meet after the 174-pound match as he posted a dominating 20-8 major decision against Dan Funk. Ragusa posted nine takedowns in the match as he became the sixth Buffalo wrestler to reach 20 wins this season. The Bulls wrap up their home slate on Sunday at 1:00 pm when they square off against USA Today/NWCA sixth-ranked Central Michigan on Senior Day at Alumni Arena. The teams split a pair of overtime matches. Menlo heavyweight Ben Flores got a takedown in the sudden victory period for a 3-1 decision over Matt Methling. The 133-bout went into three overtimes as T. J. Dillashaw and Alfonso Paez battled to a 1-1 draw through regulation. Neither wrestler scored in a 1-minute sudden-victory period and each wrestler rode out his opponent for the full 30-second double overtime periods. Dillashaw scored a takedown late in the next one-minute sudden victory period. Four Titan seniors concluded their Titan Gym careers. Risto Marttinen won a 14-7 decision at 165, Jesse Taylor scored a 9-0 win at 184 and Chris Chambers followed with an 11-0 major decision at 197 after Shawn Reilly had to default at 157 due to a knee injury.
