It's easy to sit Feldman for a year when you have a bonafide heavyweight with a ton of experience ahead of him. Doucet may have been 19-12 but that record is misconceiving. He really wasn't competitive with any legit heavies and will likely never sniff an AA. Carroll is an immediate upgrade IMO
-
Well you're comparing him to two top guys, I'm not saying Carroll is going to come in an take top 4 AA as a true freshman but he will at least give the pokes a live body at heavyweight, something Doucet is not and something they have been severely lacking for a while aside from White

It pains me to say but I think as of right now Mizzou and Iowa State have surpassed Okie State in the Big 12. I hope I am wrong but I think they have some work to do

Talent hasn't been the problem with OSU, it has been developing the talent that is a gigantic problem. Also, I wouldn't call these teams "overloaded with talent" especially when you look at what teams like Michigan, Penn State, Iowa and Iowa State are doing

I don't think there is any way that Christian Carroll doesn't come in and start from Day 1

Did Zain Retherford have a better career than Spencer Lee?
Cowboy08 replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
you can argue it, I guess, but I would take Zain's career over Spencer -
what time do the finals start? I thought it was at 4 EST

is there anywhere to see the mens freestyle brackets? I can't find it on Flo

The ACC is nowhere close to where the Big 12 is in terms of sports. Big 12 is clearly the #3 conference it is by far the best basketball conference and it's not even close and it is a better overall football conference. The ACC literally only has Clemson the rest of ACC football is God awful. ACC wrestling has really improved a ton and I would love to see NC State, Pitt and Va Tech in the Big 12 for wrestling reasons

the perfect scenario is Fix down at 125 where he should have been anyway, Carter Young at 133 and Sammy Alvarez at 141

Potential Rule Changes Vote sent to coaches
Cowboy08 replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
wrestling singlets are outdated and kids don't want to wear them. Let's be honest it looks silly. Kids like the UFC and MMA, let them wear "fight shorts" and no headgear -
Helen Maroulis Movie in Theaters one night only Thursday 3/30
Cowboy08 replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
I didn't realize the movie was only in theaters for one night. That seems silly. So where can one watch it now? -
Potential Rule Changes Vote sent to coaches
Cowboy08 replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
I haven't read the whole thread yet but I see no downside to any of those changes. Would they take effect starting next year?? -
He seemed 100% a month ago when he was pinning everyone in a minute

Oklahoma State could use some big time transfers

You do realize that Cornell is in New York State right? Hence, the "New York connection"

If brooks and Starroci win 4 titles
Cowboy08 replied to Wrestlingfan2254's topic in College Wrestling
I agree 100%. Not that Star and Brooks can't get to tier 1 but even if they win 4 titles, based on the eye test, unless something dramatically changes, I wouldn't put them ahead of guys like Zain, Nolf, DT, Nickal, Ruth etc regardless of who won more championships. Those guys flat out dominated whereas Star and Brooks just win. Big difference IMO -
Cowboys look to finally be getting back to wrestling hard and tough. It's been a while, today was a pleasure to watch
-
The fact that you had to pay to watch this dual is an absolute joke. I was looking forward to it since it was first announced but I refuse to pay for Rokfin out of principle. I already pay for Flo, Big 10+, Big 10 network, ACC network and I live in New York and got Rutgers season tickets which is 2 hours away from me in Jersey just to support the sport since they are the best "local" team even though I have no real allegiance to them, just to watch as much wrestling as I can. I paid $100 for Rokfin last year and the price went up already to $150 this year then you have to pay extra on top of that for their "ppv events". I support wrestling as much as anyone I know and I feel like they are trying to bleed me dry and I've had enough

Coaching Carousel if John Smith retires
Cowboy08 replied to scorenomore's topic in College Wrestling
5 titles..........in 30 years but 4 of them were in a row as part of a dynasty when he was coaching a group of all time great cowboys. Smith's coaching is honestly overrated IMHO, It just goes to show what Cael has done, and so quickly, is absolutely unheard of. -
He showed up at my sons kid wrestling practice in the spring and coached the whole session. He was much bigger than I thought he would be. Seemed like a nice enough kid, kinda shy

Coaching Carousel if John Smith retires
Cowboy08 replied to scorenomore's topic in College Wrestling
LOL @ thinking Pendleton or any coach wouldn't leave Oregon State in a heartbeat for OSU or any other big time job. Oregon State is a nice stepping stone for a new coach to cut his teeth, that's all Pendleton is doing right now until he makes the jump to a top program (whether OSU or elsewhere) -

Mark Perry (Not Chris) would be a great option. He's a local kid and even if Iowa is his dream job that won't be open for a lonnnnnnng time. I'd have to think Ok St would the next best thing for him (he grew up a Cowboy fan) -

Are you joking? Dake, Taylor & Burroughs will have their pick of whatever job they want if that's what they decide to do -

Jim Zalesky was fired at Iowa after winning 3 National Titles. We haven't won one in almost 20 years. I'm sorry but 5 National Titles in 33 years when 4 of them came in one stretch isn't that great for arguably the best program in wrestling history. Pat Pop, Pendleton, Coleman, Cormier..............or the dream which is David Taylor or Jordan Burroughs are all better option than Coach Smith in 2023. Might be hard to hear but it is the truth.
