2024 Russian nationals results
KingOtoguro replied to Radik of themat.com forums's topic in International Wrestling
Shavaev got robbed, the last call was atrociously bad. I wonder when Sidakov/Naifonov will beat Zakuev/Kadiev to go to the Olympics. I don't see either wrestler taking their place. -
It's quite annoying how Salk and Kadi are better and have a much higher chance to win an Olympic medal than both Bayramov, Chamizo and anyone who was in their bracket, but were both placed in one bracket, separated from the rest.
-
Tsiutryn represents Belarus (originally from Yakutia). Russia was already qualified at 57kg, as Uguev won the 5th place/Olympic qualification match at last year's worlds.
-
I assume the A-team members yet to qualify will go to the OG Qualifier and the rest will just go to the Asian championships for seeding points. I don't know about Matt Ramos. If he represents an Asian country, then sure.
-
Sadulaev will no longer wrestle at this event and has been replaced by Alikhan Zhabrailov.

I am really interested to find out who you will send: Arijau or Lee. Arujau is the world no.1 at 61 and he'd probably do similarly well at 57, although the competition is tougher. I have seen many American fans say that Lee (like Steveson) has the potential to go all the way and become the world no.1. Regardless of who you send at 65, you would be pretty lucky to come out with a bronze imo. Yianni could get a bronze but I wouldn't favor anyone else to take it.

It's looking like Team USA will go without a rep at 65kg for two Olympic cycles in a row

Razambek Zhamalov to Uzbekistan
KingOtoguro replied to KingOtoguro's topic in International Wrestling
He is better than both Baev and Tsabolov, but he really lacks international experience. Baev stopped him before going to the worlds and Sidakov, the olympics. Salkazanov beat him in his last international tournament, and then Chamizo took away the bronze. Zhamalov is a threat, but I favor both Dake and Sidakov over him. Salkazanov could be no.3 in the world, too. -
Razambek Zhamalov to Uzbekistan
KingOtoguro replied to KingOtoguro's topic in International Wrestling
Zhamalov, for some reason, thought he had criteria and that a passivity + push-out was the same as a takedown... he couldn't score and went all 6 minutes against the most clutch wrestler on the planet -
Razambek Zhamalov to Uzbekistan
KingOtoguro replied to KingOtoguro's topic in International Wrestling
Zhamalov is one of the best in the world, but lacks international experience. He had a close match with Sidakov back in 2021. I don't favor him to beat Dake or Sidakov. -
Whose shoes are left on the mat in Paris?
KingOtoguro replied to Lleynor's topic in International Wrestling
Geno Petriashvili and maybe Bekzod Abdurakhmanov -
Tsabolov is also at 79kg; Musukaev at 70kg and so on. They just don't want to cut too much weight before the Olympics.

2x Russian national champion and Individual World Cup gold medallist at 74kg, Razambek Zhamalov has transferred to Uzbekistan from Russia/AIN. Assuming he beats Bekbulatov for the 74kg spot, the Olympics/Worlds at 74 has just become a little more stacked internationally. Some say that Zhamalov can easily become an Olympic/World champion, but he has been injured very often which has prevented him from ever competing at the world stage/Sidakov also beat him. I think he is a strong player for a medal at the Olympics. I think Dake would beat him and Sidakov again. Time will tell https://uww.org/athletes/zhamalov-razambek

2023 World Wrestling tournament...
KingOtoguro replied to D3 for LU's topic in International Wrestling
Is anyone confidently taking Dake over Sidakov? Dake is looking like he is 32 and not 22. -
Anybody not watching worlds this year?

Poll: Who will win gold at 74kg? [Updated 9-12-23]
KingOtoguro replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
I am still sticking with Sidakov. I think Salkazanov has a decent shot. He has been getting closer and closer to beating Dake.. still no cigar, but he is slowly figuring him out. I think Sidakov and Kadimagomedov are better than Salk, however. -
I got Uguev, Magomedov, Otoguro, I don't care/Retherford? Sidakov, Usmanov, Taylor, Iran, Sadulaev and Zare.
-
This will be the first time that the 74kg category has been fully stacked. I'm taking Sidakov.

Sidakov is a part of the show. He will be there in Belgrade, it was announced this morning. Edit: Valiev has never beaten Sidakov, the matches are 4-0 in Sidakov's favor. Bizhoev was the one who beat Sidakov.
