  1. Kamal Bey among the USA Greco wrestling tomorrow. Expecting big things from him. There are HUGE fields in the Olympic weight classes in Greco at this ranking series tournaments. Midland-tournament-sized fields.
  2. Your point is conceded. Still boring. And I like Sumo. This is slow motion Sumo.
  3. Nice match by Parris! Bronze for the good guy. On the edge with :30 seconds to go, a step out wouldn't have helped Medishevili, so he went for a suplex. Mason just kept back and landed on top of him.
  4. He's having trouble with the tall ones lately. Isaac Trumble is tall.
  5. Upset of the tournament? I think that "step out" wasn't a step out. It was one of those "the video didn't provide conclusive evidence" instances. From the other angles, which were admittedly not good ones, it looked like part of Kyle's foot was inbounds. Can you imagine the noise if Iranians were allowed their vozuvala (sp?) horns?
  6. Trumble is a beast. His problem is that Kyle Snyder is still only 15 years old. By the way, Vicky Vicky is not only a girl's name, but the same girl's name twice. I am happy that the organizers must have had a rule against those loud vozuvala (sp?) horns. Now, the Iranian fans are cheering for the Iranian in English. They don't know what to do! Isaac is your Bronze medalist 8-5.
  7. Nate Jackson with the pin! Was that an actual grunt of pain from the Georgian, or did he just want the ref to give him a restart off his back? Wow! Big win for Nate!
  8. Good match, but Schultz loses 7-8. Really hoped that Eric had worn him out earlier in the first period. Question for our rules/strategy folks: If you are an American and really suck at gut wrenches and leg laces, and you're chasing a lead, why not just stand up right away after a takedown? Get a quick restart. At least just sit there and look up at the ref immediately, no?
  9. That arm drag slide by with the foot tripping underneath looks like the new "it" international takedown. Saw a lot of it yesterday, and now in the finals at 79 kg. Brit announcer says Eric Schultz is from ILLINOIS but was originally from Nebraska. That was backwards. However, I think Schultz does keep his hometown in the state. Nate Jackson is also an ILLINOIS high school state champion.
  10. Wick went all folkstyle up in there and eventually gets the cradle and fall against Iran and a Bronze. Great match for him. Scored a ton of points. Iran has had a great second day. Good to see them lose for a change.
  11. Thanks to @nhs67 for the American play-by-play commentary. I watched Isaac Trumble beat Luuuke Luffman in the Midlands finals 2-1 less than two weeks ago, and he's wrestling for Bronze here. Pretty wild ride for him. As for Gable, he won Olympic Gold. We want to see him wrestle Freestyle again, but it'd be too big a risk. Did any American women wrestle today? I see 72 kg had a pool of two wrestlers? I didn't see any Americans in the women's results. Time for Finals.
  12. We'll see. Aman Aman is the real deal, though, and I don't see any other American beating him right now. Maybe, David Taylor. Zane is best when he goes back to ground and works out a plan with his team. Plus, he's now got a Croatia/Zagreb Open ranking series tournament Gold Medalist to work with in the room. He's really smart, and he'll come up with the best way to reach his goals.
  13. Matthew Finesilver lost a hard-fought third-place match, but he can hold his head high knowing that he wears the perfect RAF mustache. You can see him waltzing into the Officer's Club after shooting down a Junkers 88 over the English Channel, can't you?
  14. Here's how we get back at the Pan Am Games for giving us an Australian wrestling commentator and the UWW for providing an Englishman: We send over somebody from Tennessee to announce the 2024 Cricket World Cup. Another thing, how do Penn State fans feel about Jason Nolf (not my favorite wrestler) being number two in the United States at 74 kg behind Kyle Dake, who also wrestles for the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, but never wrestled for PSU?
  15. Bekhbayar Erdenebat, there on behalf of the ILLINOIS Regional Training Center and Mongolia, wins the Gold handily. Hopefully, he and Zane can continue training together.
  16. Aman Aman with a first period tech in the Finals. Zane made it to the second period, so there. Seriously, the world is going to have to scout his step over from the seatbelt position. You're not supposed to do that! But he scored with it all tournament. Also, his forward pressure. Might have to time that.
  17. Don't forget Bekhbayar Erdenebat of IRTC/Mongolia wrestling for the Championship at 61 kg, and also every person from a Stan with zany facial hair.
  18. Zane got pushed around. Out-muscled. All the challenges helped the Turkyie guy's gas tank, but need to work on defending the underhook and (from the previous match) handling the seatbelt position. Thought Zane had a shot at a couple of four pointers during the match, but it wasn't to be.
  19. The IRTC with one in the finals, and one in repechage. I'm going to predict that Zane wins Bronze. Tevanyan at 65 kg is a brutal force. He's beaten world medalist Rivera 9-1. Ouch. We get McKenna versus Rivera. Amine's mother gets credit for every child born in the state of Michigan.
  20. Bekhbayar Erdenebat, repping the IRTC and Mongolia, has Rzazade of Azerbaijan. Up 1-0 at the break on a shot clock. Rzazade was Euro Gold last year and beat Zane at the World Championships. Wow! Erdenebat threw the Azeri to his back and stuck him! Great for the ILLINOIS Regional Training Center, but that pushes Michael McGee out the tournament.
  21. Aman wins his semi at 57 kg over Georgia with a first-period tech. Zane has a great chance at Bronze, as he's been pulled back in, and he can beat these guys. This is why Aman was my dark horse pick for last year's World Championships.
