  1. I would imagine they will continue to vote for the candidate they think is the best candidate,Hakeem Jeffries. I actually see it as him trying to show he can make deals and compromise, undercutting the most major criticism of him right now, and then he'll have the votes in January. He might have even cut a deal with centrists for their votes...if Rs still have the house.
  2. Twitter is ablaze with people on conservative Twitter LOSING THEIR MINDS in hilarious fashion.
  3. Certainly possible, but very dangerous. According to the video at sentencing, she's already given a proffer of what her testimony will be. If she deviates from that, it would likely void her deal and she's back to facing the seven felonies or whatever it was she has. So, in theory, the prosecutors already know what she's going to say, and if she doesn't, she's f.u.c.k.e.d.
  4. And is expected to be a prosecution witness against Trump and other co-defendants. Who knew the real Kraken was the friends we made along the way?
  5. No, it isn't. See how that works? I just made a declarative statement without backing it up, too. I mean, there's more evidence on my side, but still!
  6. This is, of course, not a thing that can actually be found anywhere in Ben Franklin's work, writings, or speeches. Most commonly this is (without a source) attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville or Alexander Fraser Tytler.
  7. Yes, as history has told us, if you leave the rich and powerful unchecked, they will rain glory and riches on the poors and exploitable.
  8. For many, government grinding to a halt is a feature, not a bug. They claim government doesn't work, then they go and break it, and then point at the government and say "see, it doesn't work."
  9. I still think Jordan eventually gets it, but lets hope it goes even more poorly than this!
  10. A VOTE FOR JOHN BOEHNER! Oh man, even if/when Jordan finally gets this done, he'll never live this one down, lol.
  11. I agree, something I figured out many years ago. That's when I decided I preferred that the money be spent on social services and the like versus, like, criminalizing abortion or accusing the opposing party of being blood-drinking child predators.
  12. It's adorable when they pretend to care about the budget, especially after the Trump presidency.
  13. However, this is the kind of petty I can get behind. "I don't like this guy, so I want him to have this crappy job."
  14. Kevin McCarthy was interviewed afterward and blamed Democrats for the fact we are where we are. As if they owed him loyalty or their vote.
  15. *eight Republican SO FAR. We'll see how long their moral courage holds up, or if this is just for show in case this (likely) goes poorly under Jordan and they want the out.
  16. If only we had a system to determine if there was reasonable doubt. Maybe a system where, like, a group of a person's peers had to look at the case and make a determination under that very high standard in his favor. Maybe one day...
  17. Find somebody that loves you the way @TitleIX is ripe for reform loves convicted sex offenders.
  18. This generation of politicians, both parties. But very true. I very much wish this presidential election was between two 50-60 year old candidates.
  19. Yep. I don't begrudge him having faith or being Christian (even though I'm not), but I did not like those comments at all. But it's way below what AJ as done.
  20. We have no idea what AJ is like academically, and obviously Iowa isn't Stanford or Northwestern. Him getting admitted likely isn't an issue, if Iowa is seriously going to do this. I actually do think AJ is quite capable of beating Brooks (though I would pick Brooks) if he's retained his skills. He is an excellent wrestler. I just don't want him on my favorite team. The thing is, I don't like Brooks either! But he's obviously not as bad a guy as Ferrari. Blech.
  21. He just lost to a man who famously called himself "David Duke without the baggage" so things are going PRETTY well over in the House of Representatives.
