  1. I think given the life cycle of the sport that building a title threat at a non-power school would go beyond Wisconsin's capabilities. They don't have the tradition or the money, IMO, to build a full on title contender. To be clear, were it not for tradition, I don't know that Iowa would be able if they were a Wisconsin-level program right now. I would love to be wrong, truly, more teams winning is healthier for the sport IMO. It's one of the reasons I constantly talk about a dual tournament should determine the team title.
  2. I mean...we've been discussing Bono's tenure at Wisconsin....and that's the only job I would imagine he would want (although I would love to get him at Iowa, I think there's no shot). The only thing is, I think there's a cap at Wisconsin, I'm not sure they can realistically compete for a natty, but I don't think that's something Askren would agree with.
  3. I bought a Kindle for the very same reason, but mine is getting a workout!
  4. I'm with JB. I don't think it counts as reading. It's more....consuming. YMMV but to me there is a distinction.
  5. Braille is a written language, so I think that's different.
  6. I've met both of these guys, ain't nobody getting that high in air.
  7. You think if Carr loses to O'Toole twice he's going to want to be on O'Toole's side of the bracket?
  8. It matters to me as the fan, I want the best possible matches in the finals. I'm sure it matters somewhat to Carr, as wrestling a 5 in the quarters is typically going to be tougher than the 6 or 7, but I think there's clear separation between the top 3 and the next step down, which, in my opinion, is Ramirez and Olejnik. I think the Ramirez over Carr result is flukish (I know Cornell fans are going to be pissed about that, but it's just my opinion.)
  9. If my (fairly likely) scenario plays out, I think the seeding plays out pretty cleanly at the top: 1. O'Toole 2. Mesenbrink 3. Ramirez 4. Carr 5-8. Olenjnik/Caliendo/Hamiti/Hall (depending on head to heads at conferences
  10. It seems pretty clear to me we're unlikely to get O'Toole/Carr in the finals, even though those are (to my mind) the two best guys, with Mesenbrink just behind.
  11. This reminds me, I have my own announcement, I am joining FRL as lead hack/person willing to tell the truth.
  12. I'm watching the video right now, for a change. I've been figuring we'd see at least one surprise for FRL 1000.
  13. Are you saying war has been started by atheists in the name of atheism, or just that atheists themselves have started a war? I'm sure the second one may be true (although I don't know off the top of my head who they would be, undoubtedly there are historical atheists behind the start of a war; being an atheist doesn't immunize your from being a violent, psychopathic asshole.) Typically humans aren't going to respond passionately to negative identification, whereas positive identification typically is how one would inspire fanaticism, at least, passion.
  14. Anybody reading anything? I just finished Robin Hobb's "Realm of the Elderlings" 17 book series, it was excellent. Before that I read all if Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" books. What are you guys reading?
  15. "Did any one person get more airplay than Ms. Swift?" It would appear the answer to that is yes.
  16. He also only had 1 loss against a B1G schedule and was the rightful #1 ranked wrestler. You're picking and choosing which data points best serve you and dismissing without any real reason. Your basic argument is if you ignore all the evidence that shows how clearly Lugo improves, there is no evidence he improved, which....cool?
  17. And then what happened. You keep ignoring that.
  18. He had 9 losses that year. He lost to guys like Matthew Zovistoski, Sam Speno, and Laike Gardiner.
  19. Now do the next year. You're just arbitrarily dismissing facts you don't like. The next year, he went 2-1 against the guys who would be the finalists the following year.
