Job Summary:
The Assistant Men's & Women’s Wrestling Coach is responsible for all aspects related to assisting the head coach with conducting practices and competitions, working on individual player development, supervising pre-season and conditioning programs, assisting with recruiting and contacting prospective student-athletes and promoting and maintaining positive public relations. This person is directly responsible for the total administration of their assigned building. This includes developing and implementing the IHCC residence hall programming model in their community. Residence Hall Supervisors are responsible for creating a community that allows students to grow collectively and individually. The primary goal of this position is to establish an environment that is conducive to the academic and non-academic development of students. The Residence Hall Supervisor maintains superior working relationships and communications within the department and with other college departments and personnel in order to carry out, with positive results, the mission of the college. During the week (Sunday-Wednesday), the Residence Hall Supervisor must be available 24 hours a day to respond to emergency situations in housing.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Relevant coursework/formal training required.
- Prior coaching experience, college level experience including recruiting and camps/clinics preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of and commitment to student athlete development and demonstrated knowledge of wrestling.
- Knowledge of computer information systems including social media platforms.
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Must have experience or related experience in supervision of young people.
- Possession of or willingness to acquire a CDL preferred.
Work Performed:
- Assist with strength and conditioning program.
- Assist the head coach on varsity competition days.
- Assist in maintenance and supervision of the Multi-Purpose building, weight room, and locker room as assigned by the head coach.
- Assist with annual wrestling camps and activities as assigned.
- Assist with fund-raising activities throughout the year. This includes week night and weekend activities.
- Assist in the recruitment of wrestlers for the team. Includes overnight, weekend, and out-of-state travel.
- Provide academic support and guidance to student athletes.
- Attend all meets and practices as directed by the head coach.
- Provide instruction to wrestling student-athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategies of wrestling as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of the sport.
- Scout opposing teams as assigned.
- Adhere to all policies and regulations of the Indian Hills Athletic Department, Indian Hills Community College, the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
- Supports, interprets, implements and enforces College and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides initial resident guidance, crisis/conflict management and mediation assistance for students. Refers residents to and consults with appropriate resource agencies within the college community in a timely fashion.
- Maintains a continual awareness of resident concerns through regular student contact. Promotes and ensures the Resident Assistants develop personal one-on-one relationships with residents through frequent individual meetings.
- Actively creates and implements an inclusive and supportive environment within residence hall that contributes to students’ personal and academic success. Promotes diverse and appropriate developmental activities to meet the needs of residents.
- Assists with the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of Resident Assistants. Works with the Director, Student Life in providing on-going training of Resident Assistants through planned departmental and in-house staff activities and through daily supervision.
- Attend and coordinate all move in, break closings/openings, and move outs in assigned areas. Greet students and family members of students and provide a warm, non-threatening introduction to Indian Hills Community College.Answer questions of the new students and family members of the students that arise during moving in and moving out.
- Reports to the Director of Student Life, maintaining a good working relationship and communication with the Director, supporting them in carrying out the department’s responsibilities and activities.
- Maintains ongoing written and verbal communication with college staff, students, and other relevant parties. Completes various reports in a timely manner. Responds to questions and concerns raised by parents of resident students.
- Functions as a team member within the department, as well as the division, in the delivery of quality services to students, administration, faculty, and others involved in the educational process within the scope of the department’s resources and capabilities.
- Provide leadership and supervision in the area of student life and activities for resident students.
- Serves as an advocate for quality management of residence hall facilities by reporting and following-up on maintenance issues with the appropriate facilities staff in a timely manner.
- Facilitates the opening and closing of residence halls. Manages occupancy information, key inventory control, check-in and check-out processes and custodial needs. Coordinates intra-community moves and transfers.
- Accountable for the residence hall(s) programming and continual engagement of campus culture.
- Responsible for tracking and submitting student fines and assessments.
- Coordinates activities for residents. Work in conjunction with other supervisors and resident assistants to plan and carry out community building activities.
- Dress, act, and represent Indian Hills Community College appropriately at all athletic events, practices, and activities.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
- Other duties as assigned.
