Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight

Minnow currently running a hit campaign on Alvarez ,trying to be Goodales full time propagandist…saw on his twitter that allegedly Alvarez missed weight 10 plus times which doesn’t seem correct, also after 3 times thats probably on the coaches and apparently he “cost Rutgers valuable post season points” which idk what the hell that means ..like did Rutgers finish 9th in the big 10 instead of 8th? Or 27th at ncaas instead of 25th? Valuable postseason team points lmao I had to take a picture of the thread it’s so amusing

either way if you have an athlete miss weight 10x you are a s**t coach bc it’s obviously after 3/4 times that the athlete  shouldn’t even be attempting it …what do you even say as a coaching staff after the 7th time “ don’t worry Sammy you’ll make it this time , just another 2 hrs in the sauna and keep spiting”

Also, rumor is that Bono will sign his release so he can go to Nebraska at 133 for them.

Still no word on Burwikk, though.

I fear we will never solve the riddle in the Burwikk thread.

Didn't he go up in weight?  It doesn't seem like the coaches kept him down, he just kept missing even after going up.

He says he missed weight at NCAAs and I assume he means 2021 but he never even wrestled in conference that year so he didn’t qualify anyway.  They did miss tenth by 7.5 points so if he had a decent tournament then yes, it’s possible they could’ve finished in the top ten. But since he was declared out way before that, you can’t really put the blame on him. Now Mike Van Brill going nuts at Big Tens for third before going 0-2 at Nationals, that hurt.

Me thinks you are assuming he missed by fractions.

If he wasn't close why repeat the exercise 9 times?

My thinks you are assuming he missed 9 times.  When a wrestler has weight issues, what do coaches do?  They put him on the scale after every workout.  He made weight on Friday at Bloomsburg, then isn't even brought to Rider because he's over at the morning workout.  That's on the wrestler not the coaches. Obviously Goodale and the other coaches worked with him over 2 years.  No doubt he's got talent, so they gave him more than a few chances. Maybe they should have thrown their hands up last season. They didn't so that's where they are today.  It was an opportune time to separate allowing Alvarez a shot through the portal for the spring term.

I assumed that because antitroll said that, and when you challenged his assumption about the magnitude of the 10 misses you did not question his statement about the number of misses.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

This just in: We can say bitch.

Thank the Lord for men like Husker Du and Bob Dole - great Americans who still believe in free speech.  Sadly, such men are a dying breed in today's "woke" environment.  (In fact, Bob is clinically dead, but still manages to soldier on somehow.  I suspect its the Viagra.)

I'd like to see Lehigh roll the dice on him.

Otherwise, Lock Haven, Hofstra, Binghamton, Rider could all potentially work.

Lehigh would get a nice shot in the arm from him.

I admire that he took all responsibility. I hope he lands at a place where he can contribute to the program. He said that he was eating for taste and not fuel. At 40 he can eat and drink for taste lol

Note that Alvarez remains listed on the Rutgers roster.  The door is ajar for his return per Goodale and staff, though the constraints in doing so are unstated.  He still has a redshirt available though its torn for this season and whatever scholly money he had may not be available. Spring term begins 1/17 so we'll see.
