100 Wins?

The way coaches are conserving their wrestlers are we going to see any more 100 win careers again?

Arujau is 59-6, might get nearly 20 more wins this year, and he has next year to go.  Foca has 37 through 1.5 seasons (not clear if he will get one or two more years).

Yianni is 97-2.

RBY has 87 wins (across five years); Max Dean has 89 wins.  Glory has 80 wins; Monday has 81.

Jacob Warner has 85 wins.

All those could get to 100, health (and weight, for Glory) permitting.

But your point is well taken!

Some of the five year guys will definitely do it.  That’s of course an asterisk but for ones that wrestled in 2020 they missed out on matches and 2021 was a shortened season.

Perusing wrestlestat, Looks like Cam Caffey, Labriola, Lou Deprez, Mason Parris already have unless they don’t all count.  Caffey might have even ended last season with 100 (again unless some of the wrestlestat ones don’t count).

Ethan Smith could do it this year and he even has 40 losses not even counting his redshirt year.

Sasso looks like a safe bet if he wrestles next year.  Same with David Carr.   O’Toole a good chance.   Shane Griffith.  Keckeisen.  Maybe Trent Hidlay

As an aside, Gabe Dean had 101 *bonus* wins alone.  Arujau already has 52 bonus wins, with 1.5 seaons left.

It's a bit like Hank Aaron:  take away his 755 home runs, and he still had over 3,000 hits.

Guess I should have clarified better.  I meant after these next couple of years.  With added year and some guys that had a lot of matches gone.  Seems the new way of going about the season is limit number of matches and or banging of the body until end of year when it matters.  Appears to me that we are going to have a vast majority of wrestlers that might have between 15-20 matches going into NCAA’s.

By the way both Mauller and Jacques are going to go over 100.

Last night wasn't Mauller's 100th was it?

It looks like 4 of those are during his redshirt in 2022. And I do not know what they do with non-D1 wins, but he had 4 of those in 2019 and 2 in 2020. He also had a win over a teammate in 2019. So if you remove all of those he is at 89 wins.

Updates:

As noted, Yianni is over 100.

Arujau is at 64 D1 wins; he should get four more at EIWAs and at least four more at NCAAs.  That leaves him with 28 next year for 100.

RBY has 91, so he won't get it unless he inexplicably loses early in the B1G or NCAA tournament.

Max Dean is up to 93, so he should get it this year unless someone forfeits?

Neither Glory nor Monday will get 100:  Monday at 89 D1 wins, Glory at 86 D1 wins.

Warner actually has only 83 D1 wins.

RBY can hit 100 on the head if he wins out (Clarion dual, three B1G, five NCAA), but there is a good chance he skips the last dual against Clarion.

If we are counting D1 wins while wrestling D1, then Max Dean has only 93 (can't count when he wrestled for Spartan Combat nor against non-D1 opponents).

Vito needs about 28 wins next year to reach 100.

Lucas Davison can do it.  He has 70 wins and a year left.  He had 26 wins last season, so it's not impossible he will get a similar number next season.

Kerkvliet could do it too.  He had 44 with two years left.  He will probably finish this year over 50 with two years left. He is often injured, but won 22 matches last year.

Wyatt Hendrickson is at 64 with potentially two years left.

Zach Elam has 70 with a seasons remaining.  He won 25 as a freshman so it isn't too far off.

Cohlton Schultz is at 55 with two years remaining.  Should finish the year over 60 and 20/year isn't crazy.

Hilger is at 90 wins.  Probably isn't getting 10 Ws the rest of the year. 1 dual, big tens, and NCAAs left.

Bonaccorsi is at 88.  Probably not enough dates to get to 100 - 1 dual, conferences, and NCAAs

Ethan Laird is at 90.  Probably doesn't make it either, But Rider has more dates left than most 3 duals, conferences, and NCAAs.

Rocky Elam is at 48 with two years left.  It is possible.

Hidlay is at 71 with a year left.

Trey Munoz has 50 with two years left.

Finesilver is at 99.

Layne Malczewski is at 77 with a season left.

Plott is at 53 with two years left.

Starocci is at 52 with two years left, although I recall him saying he wasn't planning on using year 6.
