OOF.

Missed that one (somehow).

I would think he believes he beats Surber is the reason he is dropping to 197lbs.

That being said, I believe Carroll starts at 197lbs when we see Carroll functional at 197lbs.  He was the leanest we have ever seen him at 97 KG, which is another ~16lbs more he needs to drop.

A very good team whether Alirez transfers there or not.

Also of note:  Alirez might be a different wrestler now than he was ~five years ago, but he tried the 149lb route.  He wasn't big enough.

I don’t have any data to go along with this theory but I have a strong feeling that Cael Hughes is going to find himself in the title conversation early.

A lot of people closer to the situation believe the same thing, including Daton Fix (who himself was right in the conversation every year he competed).

I could see Merill going 197 potentially for a year as well although I'd rather see him just take the year to grow.

Pretty sure he beat Nasir Bailey last year at U20 trials. Different style, yes and over a year ago. But Nasir is a title contender in 2025. Take that for what it's worth.

Doucet in a bad positon.....

Why so?  He's gonna learn a lot this year which can help him in transfer next and they need a backup, stuff happens.

Yea, I don't think he can transfer out right? The window has already close I believe.

Yep...... window closed. That's why I hate this timeline .... lots of guys get put in bad positions.

I am not sure when the portal opens again but it will be Fall/Winter. If I understand the new rules correctly, he could transfer anyway, enroll, then hit the portal when it opens to be immediately eligible to actually compete attached. NIL deal should be in place no matter what since it's not the school handing it out. He could also go in the portal Fall/Winter then officially transfer at the semester. He may have to compete unattached at opens in the beginning.

Since he already redshirted, I think he probably wants to start somewhere.

There is now only a single transfer window per year for wrestling starting seven days after NCAAs and extending for 45 days.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

The Oklahoma State gents have 45 days from the hire of DT or the retirement of John Smith?

I think you might be correct- the fall 15 day portal might only be for spring sports.

I think it's 30 days ... and I think it is over now.

Man...pretty tough for guys who stayed, then transfers come in and take their spot and they are stuck with no way to transfer or compete anywhere.
