Brooks Interview on Basch.

Recommended Posts

I don't know about Nick,  but Zain works for some financial firm.

Zain has a job-in-waiting with a hedge fund.

Nick Lee might be following in his dad’s footsteps and going to law school.

Doesn't matter which ADHD drug he was taking or if he had a prescription for it:  if he didn't have a TUE for it, and it is on the prohibited list (which the above drug is), then he is in violation and is subject to penalties.

You should contact the USOC and see what you can do to help.   USOC cleared him to wrestle at the trials,  he said he expects clearance by next week internationally. I was just quoting the Vid.

biggest takeaway from the interview was dang this guy does not like david taylor

There seemed to be some animosity with DT's team except for Gilman.

Nice snark.  Just because someone was allowed to compete, doesn't mean that said person has been cleared.

Perhaps because Jesus was on Brook's team, and DT uses magic rather than relies on miracles and divine intervention, both of which Brook's references

Suggesting DT and his team's "hearts are hardened" and he hopes they find Jesus is just disrespectful af. He thinks the fact that he had a difficult path and got on the team is proof that God exists? C'mon dude.

And then the kicker (paraphrasing) "I hope he actually wants to take the job and isn't doing it just to get the news of him losing to me out of the media".

Brooks seems like a good kid, but he's a moron.

Some insightful things from brooks on what he thinks of DT... damn man, anyone that isn't doing bible study 5 days a week is persona non grata to him.

I totally get how faith can help alleviate a lot of the pressure stress and anxiety that come with competing, especially at that level.... but just maybe, he beat DT because he is the younger dude and David was getting older and Brooks was becoming a better wrestler and in his prime. If people always want to say it's god's will, that's their prerogative but to insinuate you basically "walked on water" to beat DT is a little nuts in my opinion...

Same takeaways I had from that portion as well. He just about insinuated that DT leaked the Adderall thing too. "it's funny how these things come out when someone loses, looking for excuses".

I was also interested to hear how he said DT and his guys "manipulated the room" and had secret training sessions to get an edge on Brooks.

He’s still 23 and will change as time goes on. Any older person who listens to a 23 year old talk will soon realize the gap in age and perspective. Overall AB seems like a good dude who is trustworthy and absurdly disciplined. Really can’t ask much more of a young man.

I thought AB’s description of what he had to go through at OTTs before the finals was insane. Cutting weight into the early morning hours, difficulty sleeping, early weigh ins, then competing by midday — against the reigning world champ. Hopefully USAWrestling gets this fixed.

And for everyone who thought DT might help AB prepare for Yazdani — I’m guessing it’s not happening.

Though Brooks did say that he expects to be cleared within the week. Combined with the fact that he was allowed to compete, and even discounting for potential bravado, I still have to take his analysis of the situation over yours.

His ram of the east video he posted has me thinking it's not as clear cut as he's making it out to be in the interview... Something seems to be weighing on his mind.

LinkedIn says he’s a part time sales associate.  If he goes full time that is a 150% full time job.  Hedge funds are fairly notorious for paying well….. and having no work life balance….. that’s a dog eat dog world

My only thoughts on the 150% is that if he goes into sales in this field.  He is done training and coaching unless he can exist on 0 hours sleep for the rest of his life.

I believe that’s his plan. Done with wrestling after this cycle.

It’s a shame to lose a guy as talented as him but maybe he’ll come back some day after he’s set for life.

True.  But you can’t compete forever.  And that industry…. If he’s successful he will make a ton of money.  Millions probably.

Just a thought but if AB is disqualified is it even fair to just send David? He was sitting out and never had to face anyone else. You'd be sending a guy that hasn't even won a match in a year.
