After just seeing a PRK wrestler TF his opponent on Mat A... it's amazing how these No.Korean wrestlers suddenly appear and make noise on the Olympic scene and suddenly disappear from view.

Yes.  China getting incrementally better too.  INdia has been on the upswing for a bit.

So he is ranked based on points? Nothing to sneeze at, but wasn't Nate Jackson #1 in the world at some point using this metric?

Just putting it up there, for what it's worth.

(dat's all)

Two hours? lol

Yeah, it's comical that they have the traditional bronze matches scheduled for 4:45 local time (in less than 2 hours). They won't be wrestling the 65kg round of 16 till around then and quarters will go way beyond that unless they bring in some additional mats. 🙂

China's usually been dangerous at 57 and 65, but don't always get elite wins.

I strongly suspect that Erik Thiele of Germany may be the son of Sven Thiele whom Angle defeated in 95 Worlds.

Ref was biased?  Stopped the lace prematurely.  Didn't call passivity on red in 2nd period.  Spencer held center and attacked.  Red did nothing until the final 30s.

Spencer was worn down.  Wins by one.

I am not sure I have ever seen a match with a second period passivity after 16 first period pointd.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Listening to the commentators on Mat B... does ANYONE know of a Scottish international wrestler of note?!?

The one fellow has a very heavy Scottish burr! (Hootmon!)

D3

William Wallace was a scrapper.
