Then if he wins, he'll have a True 3rd place match after the women's evening semi-finals at maybe 8pm local time (1pm ET). He got the crowd excited in his matches. In his last match, he was down by criteria with :38 to go and gained a body lock that he quickly slipped up the body until it was almost a headlock throw for 4 points. Big match coming up. The four seed is very tough, but I've seen Kamal beat him.

But he's got great credentials and was the 1-seed at Worlds just last year because of it. The Chinese was a monster yesterday, though, so it could just as easily be him. He only fell 1-1 in criteria to the Bulgarian that won the bracket and looked amazing otherwise.

He could have the Chinese, who teched the 1-seed that beat Kamal recently. Or it could be the 4-seed Hungarian that is also very, very tough. I made a mistake above..the Chinese didn't tech the favored 1-seed yesterday. That was the German, who the Chinese then beat.

maligned
As someone else said, Kamal owns a Ranking series win over the Hungarian Levai last year--but Levai is very, very tough. He was World silver as recently as 2022.

D3 for LU
While waiting for Lee's bout ... watching the women's repechage now. 50Kg bout between Brazil & Panama... Brazil was physically having her way w/ the Panamanina women (up 3-1 w/ min. left in the match) when the Panamanian women hit a wicked hip toss for 4pts richt to the Brazilian's back and pinned her w/ less than 30 secs left. Woah! D3

D3 for LU
While waiting for Zain's weight to start... the last 57Kg bout was a strange one. Bulgarian vs So Korean... noticeable size difference as the So. Korean is super short (dwarflike?) The Korean had a lot of medical timeouts (bonked in the head, don't really know for sure.) The Bulgarian was winning, w/ the So. Korean on the clock... AND THE LITTLEGUY GOT THE TD!!! The Bulgarian was besides himself... eventually he got the lead back late in the 2nd pd and HUNG ON with a 7-7 criteria win. Strange (AND wild bout, indeed!)
