RandolphTJones
I know with NIL and things the transfer portal is kind of like NFL free agency. Questions for those in the know: Are coaches already trying to poach guys? Are wrestlers who aren't happy in the current situation already looking at other schools? How soon until we start hearing about "X wrestler has entered the portal"?
Pinnacle
I bet Michigan throws some cash around this year, this time getting some guys with more than 1 year left. Edited March 25 by Pinnacle
poorwrestler
It’s way different than NFL free agency. In the NFL they sign contracts with terms that both player and team negotiate and have to honor, with certain guarantees. This is quite literally not regulated in any way and boosters, fans or companies can pay whoever they want, whatever they want. No ones supposed to be talking to anyone until they actually enter the portal, but if someone from Iowa (just using them as an example, don’t kill me) wants to get someone from let’s say Virginia. Some rich Iowa fan in the hallway outside NCAA’s can run in to that kids old high school coach or their parent or uncle and say “I have on pretty good authority if your kid enters the portal, we can find a way to get him $50k a year. And if we can’t, he can just pull his name out of the portal no harm done” and it works. Sometimes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I understand your rationale, I was curious if this is a topic worth discussing keep an eye on now or if the movement doesn't happen until the school year is over or something relative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It is such a small community that it is probably close to impossible to police this effectively. Plus, the teams with high level of success, NIL funs, and program assets are magnet programs. Does not necessarily take recruiting to get interest the wrestlers are interested in the opportunity. Also have examples of guys who graduate and are looking for a good graduate school opportunity - including Ivy guys (e.g. Cardenas and there have been others) who can no longer compete for their team as graduates. It will be interesting to see if there is much portal activity with AA level wrestlers this year - will not surprise me.

Yeah that’s fair. I wasn’t trying to clap back at you, just expressing my anger about the process outwards to the masses haha.
