Looks good. I personally think 125 is seeded 1. Kaylor 2. Provo 3. Richie. Richie lost a head to head to Provo and Renteria of OSU, and Kaylor beat Provo. Either way, should be a fun last ride for PAC-12 wrestling!

Most of those look good - Agree on 125 and the order.  174 will also be interesting there with Kemp only being 1-0 in conference duals and Olguin being 3-1 in conference duals.

Pac 12 also does the 2nd place wrestle back if an NCAA allocation is on the line.

125 I debated about a lot. Kaylor lost to Reno so I am not sure how much that hurts him. 165 was the other weight I could be way off because the starters hardly wrestled each other in the regular season.

It's pretty sad to think the Pac 12 is going the way of the dodo. That conference has been around for over 100 years in some form or another. About 50 years ago pretty much all the Pac 8 (was Pac 8 at the time) had wrestling programs, including USC and UCLA. I remember Washington and WSU had decent programs at one time 😞

I would love to See the PAC 12 kind of join forces with the Mountain West and other non Power 5s of the Big 12 and make a conference could be interesting. That would have Oregon State, Air Force, Wyoming. Then maybe also take some other teams that aren't necessarily going to compete with the true Power 5s of the big 12 like Cal Baptist, North Dakota State, South Dakota State. Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, and Utah Valley. I am pretty sure wrestling though is not the main concern of conference realignment and I also don't think those coaches would want to give up their Big 12 associate affiliation.

That would still leave Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Arizona State in the Big 12.

I wouldn't want that, I'd rather just invite the Pac 10 to join the fun in the Big 12 for wrestling!  The Big 12 would only have 6 teams then, and I got enough of a tiny conference when the Big 12 was only 5 teams! Plus I like what the new teams have brought to the conference and think the Big 12 is in a pretty decent place, wrestling wise. If we can snag those unaffiliated Pac 12 teams that would be super 😄

The PAC 2 and the MWC do appear to be headed towards a merger however if that does happen it won't occur until two years down the road (2026-2027).   Don't rule out the possibility that Oregon State and WSU will join Cal and Stanford and go to the A.C.C.

Even if they did merge with the MWC and Wyoming and Air Force were to join Oregon State for wrestling they would still be only three wrestling programs.   Obviously they need a minimum of six to be a viable conference for NCAA Div. 1 wrestling. Speaking of which maybe I missed this but what will happen to the Cal Poly and Cal State Univ. @ Bakersfield wrestling programs after this season?

You answered your own question... if they form a MWC conference they will stay with those teams. Little Rock?

By the way @Thumper @NearFall  @bronco  Bakersfield still has a program despite your call for them to drop the program.

Have to wonder why Stanford is going with untested Thor Michaelson at 174 lbs rather than Tye Monteiro or Lorenzo Norman or even Darracott.

I've heard that all three you mention here are redshirting.  Not sure if Michaelson has any D1 matches under his belt?

Probably should have made some decisions about this weight a little sooner....

Darracott is a RS Senior.  He redshirted a long time ago.

Monteiro is definitely not redshirting.  He's participated in 6 dual matches this season.   He's also wrestled 14 matches this season (7-7 record).

Norman has been in 4 dual matches this season.  And he's wrestled in 16 matches this season (9-7 record).

Michaelson has not competed at all.  Yet he's the one Stanford has for 174 lbs on the 2024 PAC 12 bracket.

Coach Ayres must know something that we don't.  Doesn't really matter anyway as the Beavs are winning every weight class this weekend!  😄

Since most of us are blocked by Thumper NearFall Bronco, he won't see this, but...The redshirt status is based on dates not matches.... They get 5 attached dates and they cannot wrestle unattached first semester.

Rule from NCAA: "Men's Wrestling. In men's wrestling, a student-athlete representing a Division I institution may compete in up to five dates of competition during the student-athlete's initial year of collegiate enrollment without using a season of competition. "

Montiero has preserved his redshirt...he only has 5 dates even though he has a lot of matches .... 2 tournaments, one that was unattached, and three duals were on the same date. Lorenzo also has kept his redshirt - he only has 5 dates on his record total. He wrestled attached at the Scuffle and Montiero did not.    So Stanford fans have nothing to worry about, they are good.

That will come as news to Cohlton Schultz, Kyle Parco, Jacori Teemer, Nasir Bailey, Stephen Little, etc., etc.

Just noticed :  No Matthew Olguin for OSU @ 174 ?

Anyone know why? Looks like he wrestled in their final dual versus Stanford.
