Olympic Trials Info

Recommended Posts

Are the session times for the Olympic Trials April 19-20 posted anywhere?

I have tried searching with no luck and even emailed the Christina Hargrove chargrove@usawrestling.org the event contact at USA Wrestling but got no response.

I would like to go watch and knowing the times would make it a lot easier to plan travel.  Don't see the info other then the dates even when buying tickets.

Three related questions:

1. Is there a date by which qualified wrestlers have to declare which weight they are going?  I don't think we know which weight some guys (e.g., Zain Retherford) plan to head -- up or down.  Also, someone mentioned that you have declare your intention to wrestle (if qualified) by March 25th.  Is that the case

2.  Is there anyone with a good chance of winning NCAAs next week who would thereby automatically qualify for Trials and have a reasonable chance of making a run there?  The first name that comes to mind is Kerkviliet.  Hendrickson, I believe, is already qualified.   I'm not sure if Bastida is still a Cuban citizen or not.   The other name, of course, is Starocci, but it is very hard for me to imagine him making 74KG less than a month after NCAAs.  Hidlay Brooks, KOT, Mesenbrink, Fix, Arujau, Bartlett, and Shapiro are already qualified for trials.  Not sure about David Carr.

Aside: there are a few high school guys who are qualified: Mirosola, Lllledahl, and Blaze.  And several redshirts: Facundo, Trumble, and Alirez.

3.  Who might go to the Last Chance qualifier for Trials (April 6-7) I haven't seen any recent updates on this event, including who has registered for it.

3/25 is the deadline for wrestlers to declare that they will be competing at OTTs along with their weight class, but I believe they can redeclare their weight anytime before weigh-ins, even if they want to compete at a different weight than they qualified.

Everyone who qualifies for trials will have a reasonable chance of making a run, and it will also depend on their challenge tournament draw. There are a lot of guys who could win NCAAs and aren't yet qualified. Starocci, Kerk, Keck, Ramos (would he go Greco?), Woods, Haines, Lovett, Mendez, Croo(k)ham, Figs, and Beard come to mind.

I think we'll know more about the LCQ after NCAAs if non-champs want to give it a shot but I'm also curious to see who comes out of the woodwork for this like Ashnault, Deakin, Cenzo, IMar, MyMar, Lizak, Gadson, Lujan, and Kollln Moore. Idk if some of these guys are retired. Like Tomasello, any chance he gives it a go? Odds are slim though, I think only the champions of each weight advance to trials.

I've looked but haven't seen any information on how to watch (TV or stream) the Olympic Trials.

Anyone with reliable information?

FLO is having a "Watch Party" but that means watching them watch the trials not watching it yourself.

It's exactly one month out.  Hasn't someone picked up the streaming or TV service?

Gold U17/U20/U23 medalists (MM, Shapiro, Blaze, etc.) qualify for MFS trials.

I think it's different for WFS since Kennedy Blades, Audrey Jimenez, and some others are qualified.

NBC owns the rights to all things Olympic for 2024.  So some NBC variant or Peacock.  Good luck figuring out where!

thank you! they really need to change that criteria I think medaling at u20's/u23's is probably more notable than gold at u17's
