I agree. However I believe this team has a higher ceiling

Let's play that out.

Last year Nebraska beat their average seed by an average of 3.8 spots. Using the Intermat rankings (we owe Willie that much, right?) if they out perform their ranking by the same amount this year that gets them to something like 52 placement and advancement points which would have them battling for the last podium spot. Of course, if they keep improving their ranking/seed prior to the tournament then that best case scenario moves higher too.

Yes. I believe there is still alot of forward movement yet for this team before ncaas. Could see Bubba, allred, pinto, and however we decide at 133 all to move up. Also Liam

Bubba is a tough kid but this is probably the highest we see him ranked all year. He has losses to Fish from MSU, Munguia from Kent State, Olguin from OSU and Kharchla from tOSU. He did have a very nice win over Ogunsanya from Columbia at Cliff Keen which is the reason for his jump in ranking. Pinto’s win over Munoz was very impressive but he’s taken 5 losses including being pinned by Cade King and Layne Malczewski. Allred has a nice win over Gavin Hoffman but was beaten handily by Tanner Sloan and Trumble twice. 133 for Nebraska is not likely to score any points at NCAA’s with Dryden or Burwick. Both are more gatekeeper types at the weight. A healthy Cronin will be in the mix to AA with about 10-15 others. Outside of Spencer, Glory, Deaugustino and McKee the weight is pretty wide open. Nebraska has a solid squad but I would pump the breaks a bit.

Never count Bubba Wilson out,  kid had a blood cloot in his head over a year ago and continues to battle back. He also beat amine last year. Don't forget Allred beat batistda last year. About have the team is early young but talented. Rides off momentum as you seen this weekend.  With Robb and labbs leading the way anything can happen. Also hardy potential finalist

Movers and Shakers (based on Intermat).

Top 10 and Bottom 10 ranked by change in expected points from pre-season to now.

  • Iowa State is coming on strong. Seven of ten have moved up in the rankings, led by Paniro Johnson.
  • This is a bit unfair to Penn as the lion's share of their "lost" points are due to CJ Composto taking a gap year to recover from injury (only Intermat had him in their pre-season rankings)
  • Wyoming is hit hard by the Stephen Buchanan transfer decision.
  • Ohio State is the opposite of Iowa State with seven of their ten wrestlers dropping in the rankings.
