SocraTease
Yianni was clearly dazed and confused. I kind of doubt he will be back out there for a second match
SocraTease
Aside: for those of you haven't seen it, I recommend the "Vito" film on FLO. Yianni has a big role in it, too. Edited February 3 by SocraTease
SocraTease
My initial thought when Nick Lee scored the first points in the match was that he is clearly in Yianni's head. I now see that passing thought was both oddly prescient and now un-funny. (Yianni does, however, use his head a great deal in matches; for example, to post on it as defense or in a scramble.) Wrestleknownothing
Just rewatched the match Yianni pretty clearly drives his own forehead hard into the mat on his takedown from elevation. He immediately holds his forehead after and is very slow returning to his feet. That he got slower and more sluggish as the match went on points to concussion to me. Hopefully not, but that is what worries me. If he is even slightly concussed I hope his team realizes this is unimportant and does not risk further injury. Yes, it's not the Olympic Trials or the Olympics where one might be more inclined to take the risks associated with wrestling. Let Lee go forward and try to qualify the spot. Live for another day.
Wrestleknownothing
@Jon_Kozak Does "we won't see match 2 of Nick Lee Yianni Diakomihalis" mean that Yianni Diakomihalis forfeited? Or Does it mean we won't see it now, but will see it later? Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

Dark Energy
Bad - the situation. Head injuries are no good. But good that they know not to push it.

SocraTease
How does seeding go at trials ... at least at this point? 1. Lee 2. Alirez 3. Yianni? 4. Bartlett? 5. McKenna 6. Larkin 7. Valencia 8. Gross 9. DeSanto 10. Kolozdik Not sure where Meyer Shapiro and James Green fit in here or even Ladarion Lockett (each whom is qualified, along with Nashon Garrett). Shapiro seems too big for 65KG and Garrett too small. This is just a rough conjecture beyond #1 and #2. I'm assuming Retherford will go 74KG but that still seems to be an unknown. If he goes 65KG, he gets seeded automatically to the semis. Edited February 3 by SocraTease

Dark Energy
Yea, when I saw nhs67’s post I was confused. Clearly saw the concussion protocol tests being done. Thought it was something other than a head bang issue? Like what, a hurt wrist?

ILLINIWrestlingBlog
I started watching Lee-Yanni in the second period. Yianni looked gassed. Concussion makes more sense. That sucks. Lee's my favorite NLWC guy behind Jimmy Kennedy, so I'm glad he won, but hate any and all injuries. Now we get to see Amit Elor versus Nick Lee for the spot, right?

Psalm 1 guy
In the interview I have attached she says she feels as strong at 68kg as she did at 72kg and that she still lifts as much weight in her weight training sessions as she did previously. She did look fairly tired by the end of the match, but she did mention that wrestling at elevation is harder. If she looks this good on her first cut down to 68kg in quite some time, I think she will have no problems going forward as she prepares to qualify the weight for the United States. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMi5BbqgCT4ideo
