No one good there to see where he is at.

There are people to see how bad he is, though.

DeShazer and Cruz are both there, for example.  He loses to either of them and that tells us he isn't on the level we might have expected.

Looks like it's Deshazer & RBY in the gold match.

Bracket screen is a little wonky but it's showing that Deshazer teched Cruz 10-0 in 0:31 and Nasdeo 10-0 in 0:35!!

RBY teched Kale Lauridsen 14-4 (5:52) and Diamantino Iuna Fafe (Guinea Bissau) 5-0.

2-1 over Deshazer. RBY is not going to be a factor

DeShazer teched Cruz who has gone as far as quarters at worlds in '22. And it was RBYs first fair test down at 57. I wouldn't read too much one way or the other but it was an overall positive result. Micic has proven that an oversized *folkstyle 57 can be a hammer on the global scene if they can overcome the cut.

Also impressive results from Valencia, Hall (lost to a medal match gatekeeper), Mike Mach (showed why weight classes exist), and Hillger at his first international showing. Oh and nice to see Zillmer back and healthy!

For sure. I was being somewhat facetious. There was a lot of chatter online (perhaps not on this board, I don't recall) about how Lee would be a non-factor because he *only* beat Nico by 3/4 points. I was just playing off of that.

But I really don't expect much from RBY. If he isn't on the opposite side of Zane at the pan-am qualifier, I don't foresee him qualifying for the Olympics, depending on who goes to the global qualifier.

Nothing against him. He's just too heavy

Ahh gotcha I missed that and flew right over my head. I will say though, he is very dynamic and has that eastern bloc "lull you to sleep then electricity bursts" style that consistently brings homes medals.

So if RBY is all as good as everyone thought and if Deshazer gave him a real run for his money,  what is Deshazer's chances at OTTs?   Now maybe the reason RBY went somewhere else was a slam dunk getting to compete at the highest level.   So maybe RBYs chances of winning OTTs was not that great in the  USA.   But Deshazer made a statement I think, kudos to him.

I talked to him in Serbia and he said he had never wrestled freestyle before so was still learning. Doing that on the senior circuit can be tough.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

That's just some straight bullshit. He got thrashed by Vito in freestyle and lost 2 different freestyle tournaments to nobodies after his freshman year
