Jimmy Cinnabon
No AJ means no Angelo and no Anthony...might this result in Iowa not finishing in the top 3 in the team race the next few years? It's a dark day in Hawkeye nation.
Mr. PeanutButter
Perhaps. But the transfer portal has been very generous to Iowa
Wrestleknownothing
Many would say this is the brightest day in Iowa wrestling in the past month or so. 4 Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge
Le duke
In the nicest possible way, this might result in an uptick in recruiting for Iowa. Their recruiting has been pretty meh in recent years.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

de4856
If the Ferraris are not going to be Hawkeyes, I don’t think that will really impact Iowa all that much. Iowa will still attract the kids that want to be Hawkeyes.
WexfordWarrior
I think that some parents may be questioning the wisdom of the Iowa staff after this debacle. Reeks of desperation.

If the Iowa staff doesn’t actually let him on the team, then I don’t think they look too bad. They were trying to give him a chance and he blew it. But if this video is from when it was posted, I imagine the AD may not be happy that he is using campus facilities (thanks to the RTC) - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C12PTlQrHIW/
fishbane
2 hours ago, WexfordWarrior said: I think that some parents may be questioning the wisdom of the Iowa staff after this debacle. Reeks of desperation. Tom has been known to extend a lifeline to a wrestler with a troubled past - DeSanto, Downey, Ferrari, etc. Not all of them ultimately ended up on the roster. He's also given a second chance to some wrestlers on the team that have found themselves in trouble - Stoll, Lofthouse, Dzewia, Meyer, ect. I don't think he has ever given a second chance to someone who he ultimately had to boot off the team. Downey never ended up on the roster and I don't think any of the Ferraris have yet. That fact might show the strength of his process. The fact that Brands initially had an open door for Ferrari might have less to do with desperation and more that he could relate to his situation. There was once a time when Tom Brands was a brash young man with a checkered past that included sexual assault allegations looking for a college wrestling program along with his equally talented and less troubled brother. Maxwell Smart
Things started out great when he took over the program, but has been treading water the last 14 years. A lot of top recruits did well but didn't win individual national championships. How many Hawkeyes won a match over an opponent during the season only to lose to the same opponent in a rematch when it counted? It's happened too many times over the past 10 years. The separation from the top program is growing and other programs are gaining and pulling ahead. Iowa would have no problem getting top coaches to take over, everything's there for more success. KLCarnegieTech_1969
There Ferrari's are not the answer. There is no guarantee they can make a solid contribution to the team this or next season. Too much luggage. They are their own worst enemies. From a cost/benefit analysis, there is too much of a price to be paid. And, for what?
