Is Truax the weak link in the Penn State lineup?

Seems crazy to say the #2 ranked 184 pounder going into last night is a weak link but he was the only Penn State wrestler to lose and he showed very little offense in the match.  From 157-HWT you have guys who have a very good shot of making the NCAA finals and Truax is bookended by two potential 4x champs in Starroci and Brooks, but watching him wrestle he doesn't look very much like the other Penn State studs.  Very limited offense from neutral, not much of a rider too.  I know he's been very consistent at NCAAs but just wondering what's going on with him.

Truax and Munoz have faced each other six times in college (after last night's match).  Truax won the first four of those six matches against Munoz.  The fifth time Munoz pinned Truax and last night (the 6th time) Truax lost by decision.  So I'd say - if anything - Truax showed improvement over his last match against Munoz.

I am very impressed that Fan of Purdue recognized it as chess!  Well done sir! I thought it was just signifying random noise with unrelated characters.  I wouldn’t have even had a second guess…the BANG! Learn something new everyday.

It was impressive.  Not diminishing it but if you play chess I don’t think it’s all that remarkable to have noticed…..:   Now to be able to understand who is winning why or what moves are good or bad.  Different story lol.  I sure can’t keep up with magnus brain or whatever super GM he is beating in that game.

If you played chess for just a little bit you would recognize that it’s Algebraic chess notation, which is a fancy way of saying “where the pieces move”

 

I play chess but by all metrics am below average for chess players.
