they really did tame desanto. his conduct basically got better the longer he was at Iowa. you could point at stuff he did at Iowa that was embarassing for sure, but he improved as a person.

When did he threaten to kill the staff member at NCAAs?  Was that his second year at Iowa?

he tried to rip a guys arm off before that.....seems like my claim that he trended in the right direction is correct.

There's a lot to criticize DeSanta for but this particular incident was overblown.

Society has gotten soft. Back in my day you could tell your boys, "I'll ducking k!ll you m0therf#c<3r" and everyone would just laugh and continue to roast each other. Now, everyone is looking to victimize themselves

Could you tell a woman that same thing, back in your day?

We used to use Napalm, for some reason we stopped.

I once told my 4th grade teacher (a woman) that I'd kill her. She laughed at me and said I was overreacting.

In all seriousness, threats like these should not be taken lightly. Austin was right to be reprimanded. From my understanding, he was feeling very overwhelmed after losing to RBY and wanted to quickly get away from anyone and everyone to vent. He didn't behave appropriately in that situation so I'm not saying he should get a pass, I just don't for a minute think he had actual violent intent at that moment.

18 yr old kid matured over 4 years to become slightly less of a temper tantrum throwing maniac? Yeah sorry he still tries to injure his opponents with blatantly illegal moves at the senior level. Low dang bar but ok.

example?

Lol I’m not playing the “convince me I’m wrong” game. But I have seen him warned by refs several times to stop doing illegal/dangerous moves since he left Iowa.

you're accusing him of trying to injure people and you can't think of a single example?

Not accusing to share what I saw. Maybe ADS is a better person, I don’t know. Do you want me look through his match footage to jog my memory?

A kid in my 3rd grade class got in trouble for something, and the teacher told him to go to the principals office. Just before he went he yelled "I wish you were dead!" at our teacher, who was an old lady. It was kind of shocking to hear but also kind of funny.

I candidly would not compare DeSanto to AJ Ferrari. Candidly it seems DeSanto for the most part had emotional control issues, not excusing it but there's something there. If you watched the Big Ten documentary, you can see how bad it got (he was threatening Marinelli even) But I candidly did not hear about any off the mat issues with him ever.

AJ Ferrari is a typical narcissistic who doesn't seem to think rules apply to him. He was starting fights with Masvidal at UFC events when he was still in trouble. The fact he got away with what he did and is being worshipped as a savior by Iowa already won't help him grow out of those thoughts either IMO.

Iowa fans really want to believe he gets it together this time and there is no implosion that happened at Allen, TX, at Blair, at Bergen at Stillwater .... I suppose I would also if I were them.
