ACC Network Duals

Recommended Posts

Am I the only person that hates when their are good duels on the ACC Network. I really can't stand listening to Rock Harrison constantly yelling, grunting, and making just blatantly wrong comments. He was just describing a potential takedown for Feldman and said "that would be a takedown in high school, but not in college". Both guys had grips on each other's legs and nobody had control. Not even close to a takedown in any level of wrestling.

It actually was close.  Having a grip on someone's leg does not prevent you from being taken down or even pinned.

There is a picture in the high school rulebook (rule 5-25-1) that illustrates this.  Feldman had Catka's leg hooked.  He just needed to get his own right knee on the mat beyond reaction time from  what I remember.

While i understand wanting the announcers to be the best they can, if you told us 10-15 years ago how much college wrestling we would be able to watch now with things like ACCN and BIGTN we would have been thrilled and not that worried about the quality of the announcing

Just watched the sequence.  I would disagree with him that “that’s a takedown in high school,” and I’d argue there’s not much difference between high school and college takedowns (especially with the hand touch takedown now gone).  It was close though (in both high school and college).

But Rock was a former official, and normally his rules interpretations are correct.  And of course love his energy.
