side questions- is this a bigger win than Ramos beating Lee last year in the Semis?

No. Ramos stopping Lee from a potential 4th NCAA title beats pretty much anything that happens in the first weekend of the season. Impressive as it was for Blaze.

Well that is confusing.  Palmer that good?  Blaze wiped out after Ramos win?  Ramos actually kinda not feeling well?  Or weird stuff happens sometimes?

Palmer started his career at Clarion at 141 he was 133 the last 2 years and now down to 125. He's long and hard to finish on. His schedule is very favorable as well. The Scuffle has 1 weight where the guy who's supposed to win is inside the top 10. Scuffle is down this year big time

I would say that a combination of factors contributed to Blaze's loss. Brayden Palmer came into the season ranked #10 at 133 pounds, and he is now ranked #20 at 125 pounds (which could change after this weekend). Blaze is an amazing wrestler, but it is really hard to win two matches against high-ranked college wrestlers, especially when he had to beat Jax Forrest just to get to the finals. Palmer is a very good wrestler, and he is very difficult to score on, as well as being very good at controlling opponents on top. Palmer pinned Nagao last year at the Southern Scuffle, so overall I would say that Blaze's loss was not a case of "weird stuff happens."

Ramos was majored by DeAugustino at Big Tens last year and had a loss to Anothony Molton of Campbell.  Not to mention the three 1 point squeakers in a row at NCAAs, including the rabbit he pulled out of his hat in rideouts against Trombley.

Obviously not to say Ramos is bad, but for a #1 guy he was vulnerable.  125 will be fun this year...

I’m seeing posts that suggest (what I think are) incredible High Schooler wins in freestyle vs college studs.  That is awesome.

But curious about folkstyle wins by high schooler against the very best college kids.  Are some of those mentioned above folkstyle wins?

Countdown to Jimmy Pastry posting about how Blaze could beat Spencer.
